Definatly one of the cheapest and easiest mod to put an IAT sensor from the 1.8T (I think) into the airbox below the MAF, I look at the MFA temp reading as more of an engine block temp. Maybe this would give accurate readings but would be hard to change the thermocouples voltage output to a resistive value the MFA needs http://www.aim-sportline.com/download/doc/eng/sensors/Datasheet_H2O_M10_eng_101.pdf

I've looked into this issue quite a bit, my obsrvation consist of sump plug sensor, standard Sensor in 24v oil filter housing, Long sensor in 24v oil filter housing, Thermocouple down the dipstick tube, I too was reading high 140+ last year, I've come to the conclusion that the cause for the high reading is heatsoak from the engine block, I plotted MFA reading vs thermocouple reading and when MFA read 110, thermocouple was 98, I then put the longer sensor in (longer because the 24v doesnt have an oil temp sensor and you use the deaper threaded oil pressure port) so to get the sensor in the oil flow, MFA read 104, thermocouple 98 senders are NTC (negative temp. coefficient) meaning the higher the temp, the lower the resistance (higher resistance = lower temp), it's a bit puzzling why a bad (high resistance) connection would give higher temp. readings, I have thought of putting a resistor (prob 15 ohms) in series to callibrate the sender/MFA to the readings of the thermocouple, but prob wont as all I do is look at the MFA temp and minus 5 or 6 degrees, in the summer if I get high readings I'll look into it further. Also all sensors were checked for correct values in saucepan of boiling water check link for good info http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?228287-THE-VW-Temperature-sender-values-range-and-colours-mix-and-match-guide

Hi Can you pm me with your details Cheers Steve

It's easy, It connects to the wiring for the ashtray light, you can either solder into the cars wiring or I've included some connectors which clamp around the wiring making the connection, I'll do a write up very soon, Steve

I've finally got the kits ready, As it stands I have 15 standard coloured kits and 3 spare for special colour orders (Currently there are 2 special colour orders) Price is £25.95 inc P&P, I would prefer bank transfer But will accept PayPal if buyer pays fee or money sent "to friend" To place an order Please PM me with your details, So far I have recieved PM's confirming orders from GlosterOx seanl82 Goldie bigchagg Roger Chatfield jscVR6 I will be doing a photo install write up which I will post on this thread, Each unit is tested before being packaged, Below is an example of what you can expect, Please be aware that these are made by me using only basic tools, Each one is unique and individually made to fit the facia plate, some imperfections may be evident but these do not effect the operation of the unit, so if you are expecting a perfect laser cut item, then it's probably best if you don't buy one. Cheers Steve

Went to fit the adjustable intermittent wiper relay which I got of Davidwort, only to find out there's already one there, Well you learn a new thing every day, #feelinglikeanewbie
-
MPG info 314 miles 57 litres = 25mpg mfa (pin 81 connected to the dials) showed 31mpg over the same miles
-
programmable intermittent wash wipe relay, no.99 - SOLD

Hi, I'm interested, does £0 P&P mean free postage or pickup only? Cheers Steve -
I don't suppose any of them are vr6 boxes?
-
Thanks for the offer, £30 is a very good price but I actually like the standard ratios, they are well suited to the 24valves low down torque, I'm sure someone will snap it up at that price.
-
After spitting the diff through the bellhousing on my V5 3.9FDR box, I reinstalled the original CHN VR6 box, I'm a bit concerned about the condition of it because when I engage the clutch in 1 st gear by quickly raisng pedal to biting point I get a knocking noise, I think it's play in the output, because when I jack the wheel up and turn them by hand there seems to be some play, Any ideas, normal? serious? etc
-
Yeah I saw a thread with that spacer featured and someone mentioned phenolic washers, they arrived today, not great quality but I'll fettle them, I'm running a 24 valve and there is less slack on the leads
-
No worries Science, yeah mines the ****ty Beru one, interesting that it's "Operating temperature range at outer core -20 to 120°C" gets quite hot in a vr6 engine bay and being bolted to the engine, I've ordered some phenolic washers to stand it off the engine by 7mm http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141263556397?var=440371780463&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I might think about slimming down the heat sink as the ignition leads are tight (short) even without the spacers

Could have something to do with my heavey right foot, My trims are within %2
-
Also, cheapest place to buy these (except the ebay seller who accepted my "offer" of £50, then sent me the wrong one, then couldn't find the proper one and refunded my money!!!)is http://www.vauxhallworldparts.com/vauxhall.php?partnumber=0221503002 Can't comment on performance yet as I cleaned my MAF a bit too much and cleaned it to brokeness
-
I think this is wrong, I've just fitted one to my 24V engine and followed this diagram, although my connector is at the top, I wired it up with the 12v to the pin furthest away from the blue sticker, the 3 remaining contacts are just controlling the corresponding pair of coils, 1&6, 3&4, 2&5. anyway started her up and splutered and popped, did some checking with the meter and found that the connector NEAREST the blue label is 12V supply, I ended up moving the all 1 place along, fired up no problem. So to sumerise, when you fit one with the connector on top, Just connect them to the corresponding terminals, far left ICU to far left coilpack middle left ICU to middle left coilpack middle right ICU to middle right coilpack far right ICU to far right coilpack IGNORE THE NEW COILPACK CYLINDER NUMBERS

Speedo Binnacle Covers - Group Buy Feeler - P12 - Prototypes fitted, all OK!
J.C replied to Jim's topic in Group Buy Feelers
They look great, Count me in for a pair -
Best quote I've heard to describe Corrado ownership
-
MFA MPG for 100 miles was 33.5MPG Real MPG For 255 miles, calculated by fuel usage was 25.75MPG so it's roughly 30% out So for real MPG multiply MFA MPG by 0.77 or divide by 1.3 I might contact Stealth and ask if they've got a solution
-
Sorry for everyone who's been waiting, I've had an issue with the the inverters, they arrived but they wern't up to scratch so I returned them and sourced some new ones. I'm not doing this to make heaps of money, but saying that, I want people to be satisfied with them so I won't release them until I know they're good, I'll be updating the thread as soon as they're ready Steve
-
sounds feasible, I'm averageing 32 MPG since connecting pin 81, that's at least 5mpg more than my petrol pump records show, I wonder whether the 24v injectors supply 20% more flow than the 12v vr6 ones, It's all good, a few more fill ups will give me a correction factor to apply to the readout
-
Don't do that just yet, I'm getting an average MPG of 35, I WISH!!!
-
Yeah I know, I'm quite impressed with the 25-27mpg (mainly town driving) my old Mk3 golf vr6 and the 2.9 Corrado struggled to out of the low 20's, Could be the low down tourque, not needing to wring it's neck to get power!!!
