Just bought the Mrs a Seat Toledo (this evening). Gonna get a few mods for that one ;)
-
This one's just hilarious!

That one of "Phil's" looks a good on to me, if it's an injection one might be worth the £900. Having had (at last count) 11 of the buggers, the best engine is by far the DX 1.8i and seeing as you're spoilt for choice at anything below £1000 I don't see much point in going any higher unless for something exceptional (anybody got a Scirocco Cabrio hidden away anywhere ;) )tell him to keep looking. Here's a similar one at a trader in Nottingham... bit more "reasonable" price... Or there's this Storm on ebay, all the badges are wrong, but looks as though it might tidy up pretty well...

You'd be lucky to find PAS on a Scirocco unless it's aftermarket. Some people used the late Mk1 Golf Cabrio for parts I think...

Not far out... But... GT - 1500 originally, then 1600 carb GTi - 1600 inj GL - 1600 carb GTL - 1600, latterly 1800 carb GTS - 1800 carb Storm - 1800 inj GTX - 1800 inj Scala - 1800 carb, then 1800 inj GTII - 1800 carb Best one to go for is Storm (obviously), as they tend to be the best "looked after" ones. GTX's can be quite good too. GL's are a comfy version, and can be quite economical with their 4+E gearbox. TBH whether a 1990 GTII (which that one sounds like) is worth £1000 depends on it's mileage and general condition. There isn't really a lot to go wrong on them, so if it's clean and the interior is good then it might be worth it. One thing to bear in mind though is that only buy it if he intends to keep it for a while, as they're worth diddly squat on the second hand market unless you've got a real mint one. Finally, if it's a second car then insurance can be quite cheap on these. My insurance on the Storm for example is £128 this year. FC with agreed value of £4000. :)

Use to have A60 VW and C6 OVW which did a passable inpersonation of G60 VW for quite some time until the local plod caught up.
-
Best not to have a green polo too 80

Were you inside the fence then? If so, I know where you went. Just goes to show how good the ol' Fuji is really. I have an S7000 as my "travel/holiday" camera. Had it just over a year now and it takes great macro (close up) shots too.
-
Which camera did you get in the end anyway?

Retro Cars Mag: Scirocco Storm Cover Car
Campaign replied to bristolbaron's topic in General Car Chat
Hmm, don't know how I missed that one, will have a look at Asda tomorrow. -
How did you get onto the inside of redgate on that last one?
-
Oh, how I wish people could... ;) Just a point of interest, G60JET - ALL issues of The Sprinter that were sent out by myself had a return address on them. That is possibly not true of other correspondence from CCGB. RW1 Are you on the CCGB committee, and if so are your comments coming from an official standpoint, or a personal standpoint? As others have said, would people PLEASE bear in mind that all positions on the CCGB committee are voluntary, and unpaid. CCGB Committee Positions are "elected" at AGMs, but it would appear that the committee structure is at the will of the committee, posts can be deleted at the whim of the committee WITHOUT membership consultation.

For Andi's sake, I think it might be a good idea... (he IS liable for slanderous comments after all...)
-
My Scirocco has leccy windows, but a keep-fit sunroof ;)
-
Still prefer the old style 911s though, just something timeless about the looks.
-
Simply the sexiest car on the track - and that included a Beetle RSi, Ferrari 360, several EVOs, Nobles, a couple of racing Porsches and the second favourite (M3 CSL). No Corrados present, and (strangely) no TVRs either.
-
Do you mean it's F&*$ing sexy as... It was parked next to a (99?) 911 GT3 - and, god knows, I know which one I'd pick anyday!
-
The Campaign.... ? Shurely shum mishtake... (Anyway, it's off the road until at least next week... no tax)
-
As I had bugger all to do this morning I decided to pop along to the local track and take a few piccies, also a good excuse to try out my new picture box... a few examples to get your appetites whetted, you can view the rest at Autoposter.co.uk

I'm not into club bashing either Jim, but the club DOES have a serious communications problem.
-
I think you'll find that your sums are a little off there Andi, the club has (had) about 600 members last year at last count, so about £9,000 in subs.
-
It's a fairly straight swap between the two, so could've just been changed without too much disturbance on the bolts. AFAIK they stopped producing indented bonnets years ago, and VW have no stock of them at all.

I had a chat with the Carole Nash people at the Classic show the other week and found that (at the time) they DIDN'T consider the Corrado to be a classic, although about 6 months before I HAD had a quote from them on a classic policy. When asked why they had changed their minds, the only thing the guy could come up with was that the underwriters kept changing their minds on what was and wasn't classics... JrB - who insures his Scirocco Storm for £120 a year... ;) Agreed value of £4k and all mods included...
-
Rustbuckets ;)

Storm81, we'll get you over to "the darker side...." ;)
