  1. Far one, not suggesting I had a good understanding of the law in this case unlike mic_VR who seems to have done some digging..
  2. That they under steer massively on roundabouts
  3. Except for criminal damage to the handbrake mechanism?
  4. Well that's just mental, fecking ballifs! Surely they should check to see who owns stuff before they take it rather than just be in a position to take what they want..
  5. Geta mk 2 Golf one they fit ok with a bit of trimming for the bonnet washer tube and wiring and some heat. You can also then fit a B3 Passat wiper motor cover and it looks more fsctory than the SWG item.
  6. It's in Cornwall but I suspect Jezza will stick it on a pallet for you. Annoyingly I am moving house next week or I would have had this for future use.
  7. The rev counter pick up is from the coil on early 1.8 16v cars and not from the ECU as per the G60 hence no revs. The single direction indicator is because once again the early clocks just have an indicator on bulb whereas later ones are directional - without looking at the wiring diagrams that may well mean a lot of loom work to fix. MFA, what part does not work? If there is no rev counter feed it won't register information and without a speedo drive it won't either. Having had to work most of this out when fitting my 16vG60 into a early 1.8 16v it is much easier to just run a pick up from the ignition coil to the rev counter feed and connect up the gearbox using the manual cable - it should all work then.
  8. The boot sticker comes from the factory. It may be the an error as the lower power units used distributor and coils instead of a coil pack and they didn't have the dyno numbers for the 2.9?
  9. 2 gaskets on an ABF is fine for a turbo and I think gives about 9.5:1 which is high but will be good for the overall engine performance. Obviously a turbo runs higher boost so no danger of bending the rods etc. John Mitchell runs S2 rods and pistons IIRC on a G60 bottom end with a decked head to increase the CR a touch.
  10. Best bet is to use a ABF and a stacked head gasket, proven to be reliable in club GTi
  11. Should be attached to the rear brace bar for the metal oil feed line. Not sure about the return given the short length of hose.
  12. S2 rods to go with the pistons give about 8.5 to 1 comp ratio on a KR block.
  13. The rear badge chrome piece is common between the Corrado and the Mk 2 Golf of the era etc. The Corrado specific part is the black backing piece.
  14. Sadly this looks like another case of someone buying a car sat in a garage on the cheap and then sticking it on eBay for small fortune, its obviously not currently garages so can't have been sat outside long. Sorry for getting back on topic!!
  15. Now sold, hopefully the new owner will keep us up to date with the progress as he goes, enjoy it.
  16. If it still won't budge after the advice above then I have cut them off with a dremmel before, just be very careful and you don't need to go full thickness of the nut just weaken it in a few spots. Also worth considering wheel alignment after as it won't be quite the same even counting turns etc. no guarantee it was correct to start with.
  17. I did, early ones have 5 pins sticking out the back. Late ones have a 'proper' multipin plug connection as per the photo on the first page of the thread. Its not a clear cut case of early and late as the 88 and 89 model year cars have lots of differences compared to the 90+ cars due to production changes, side trims are of a different plastic, the outer window scrapper seals are shorter and the window surround seal is different etc etc. Easiest way is to get him to pull his spoiler control unit and send you a picture.
  18. No I haven't. After nearly 8 years of doing a 9 hour plus road trip at around 580 miles south each way to visit family I know exactly how long it takes me to drive from the middleish of Scotland down to Bath area along most of the M6 and a good section of the M5. As I said previously its nearly all motorway driving aside from the bit at the start (well that bit still takes 2/3 hours to hit a 2 lane carriageway) and the bit at the end, my average speed on a run is usually around 65mph for the whole trip. The main problem with the UK road network is if you want to do a North/South run down the East coast, it takes a lot longer, same applies for any East/West trips aside from the M4, most of your runs involve some form of east to west action from Newcastle, hence the extra time. A Stealth racing run for me (and others up in this part of the UK of which there are quite a few in Aberdeen) is a 1000 mile round trip at about 8 hours each way depending on traffic - not really a day trip option so again I fully understand the desire for folks to make a weekend of it to justify the expense of travelling down. There is no easy solution to the problem, it would be great if we all only had an hours drive to get to any show but unless we all move to a smaller island its not happening. I was simply pointing out that there is a lot more North left in the UK than people who label themselves as Northern usually acknowledge and most shows are a day trip (albeit a long one) for the majority of folks in the CCGB; at least it is a day trip unlike those of us that live in the outlying ends of the UK.
  19. Should have been all the black capped ones, the cap design was changed as the pressure relief valve in the black caps were prone to failure resulting in coolant loss or a lack of pressure build up. Cap is the same on all Corrados despite the difference in tank design. If you have a 1H0 121 321 C part number or higher fitted you should be fine, its the letter code on the end that will change to reflect a newer one as they have already swapped out the initial 3 digits for the 1H0 prefix. Should cost about £11 inc VAT from the dealers for a new one.
  20. Sorry but all this discussion about North and South is piffle, you are all Southeners from where I am sitting.. Just to add a touch of perspective, it takes me 3 hours on a good run to get to Edinburgh/Glasgow area and 4 hours to get to the border, so even the lake district would be around a 5 hour road trip most of it on motorways. The only folks down south who have a similar problem is the guys on the end of Cornwall when it comes to travelling. No matter where it gets held some folks will have to drive further than others, although it is great when its on your doorstep, having to drive a mere 50 miles to join up with the CCGB Scottish road trip came past was a great change.
  21. Tidy enough but not had the coolant header tank recall done as its still black..
  22. The plug connections vary between early and late too, early ones have 5 pins sticking out the back. If there is no suffix letter after the part number you have a German one at 72mph - this was the original design speed for spoiler deployment.
  23. Mincy, I am moving on the 5th of Jan to start at Marham, Sadie is coming down in March when we move house. Despite a busy work schedule (I am away mid May until mid Sep) I do expect to make a few shows next year as at least I can do the one day shows from there unlike my current location.
  24. Due to work move I needed to get an MOT on the car prior to the New Year, although the car does not need to move until early March, I was pleased with the cost of insurance for it down on previous years by a good amount. It's not moved in over 15 months but a solid brake pipe replacement (the one that runs from the compensator to the O/S/R flexi), a spot of brake bleeding and a rinse with a hose to shift the dust off now sees me with a new MOT for the car. Downside it is running far too rich (might have to recal the wideband) but it should be ok to get me down the road and I did go for a bit of full throttle action in 3rd up to 7k on the run back to see how it went - not bad despite the black cloud out the back! Brakes are still a bit rubbish but another bleed and some more driving will help no end and I seem to have not connected the speedo drive cable properly, thankfully the sat nav has a speed display! No advisories either, bit of a result really. Top of the list for next year is a remap of the ECU and then I finally get to find out what I have made..
