  1. Last photo is the ambient temp sensor. Previous pair, wiring sleeve looks newer than the rest of the wiring although that does look like a 'proper' VW crimp on the end on the first photo - just missing a plug! As for what its for, not too sure, it might be the remains of an upgraded headlight loom.
  2. Its not on ETKA 7, never has been and I don't know why. You could just fit a speed nut instead but I think they are there is support the plastic lug and prevent the screw wearing through the plastic due to vibration etc. The part may be identified on an older version of ETKA if anyone has one still. ---------- Post added at 6:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:44 PM ---------- Humn, doing some further digging it would seem that a suitably sized speed nut would be N 902 767 01 at 4.8mm x 14.25mm. The 'tab' fitted to the headlights is around 15mm in length (just checked a spare new headlight assembly) to check so this speed nut would work ok, its normally found holding the diagnostic plug connector inside the car.
  3. Clip, 535 853 832 A 03C x 10 required, still available from the main dealer, around 70p each inc VAT. Insert sleeve to sit in the windscreen lower framework, 535 853 837, classic part as of 01 Feb 12.
  4. VW do still sell these new, not too expensive IIRC...
  5. Windscreen issue, that just looks like the seal that runs around the outside has popped out to me, just poke it back in. As for the slighlty mouldy sunroof seal, a pressure washer will shift that green stuff off..
  6. I wonder why I bother sometime and just for clarification I am not in the best of moods but if I post up something I don't just make it up I check the facts first. If you have an up to date copy of ETKA with the appropriate updates it will show you that the RHD instrument cluster is a classic part, cross checking that on the VW classic parts website (google it, I can't be bothered to post a link frankly) shows that they have stock (as shown by the green box). So RHD later style VDO centre console gauge cluster, part number 536 919 527, is available from VW classic parts at a price of 200.98 Euros + shipping etc. So don't spend a fortune on ARZ shop with the very big windows and a man with a gun and a mask at the door to mug you on the way in as well as the way out. That is all.
  7. Finally... And just to pee on everyones fireworks, these are a classic part even in RHD form. I know they were showing as green last time I looked but can't get on the classic parts price checker as the site is down right now.
  8. The real difference is the weight distribution, as the VR sits forward in the engine bay there is a lot of weight in front of the front axle, this has a bigger impact on handling than anything else. As for the overall weight difference, air con adds a fair chunk of weight so a 1.8 16v with aircon will weigh more than a G60 without. However, when you consider that 100kg is the difference between a car with an empty fuel tank and just a driver and a car with a full tank and a passenger then its not a huge amount.
  9. Chaved up a bit, originally rally spec windows too looking at the cover bung on the door card.
  10. Jim, There are some issues with VR CV splines, later models use a tapered spline for more positive engagement and the torque loading is much higher. VAG always used a 12 point nut as it makes it easy to carry out the correct torque loading procedure, you are correct when you say a 6 point is the sure sign of an aftermarket CV joint. So as you have a shinny new hub you should get a shinny new genuine CV joint to go in it as the new hub will be the tapered spline version...
  11. And never been run so how does it he know its going to make 350bhp???
  12. Must have had a personal plate at some point as I think anything under 30 at G reg was reserved for that use. Nice to see an early valver getting some attention, not many left now.
  13. Got my pair today, very nice model and panels seem metal not plastic, one for the desk the other to keep for spares!
  14. About 5 in Corrado form and they were never available for sale to the general public. You can get a G60 to put out stock VR power figures via a chip, pulley and smaller drive belt but the charger needs to have some history and be in good condition - that will set you back under £500.00. As for what's best, owned both at the same time and to a similar condition in terms of age of suspension bits, 4 cylinder stuff is much much better through tight twisty stuff but the VR feels more planted, it's all about what you want from your drive really. As for Corrados being quick, they just about keep pace with modern stuff as they are a tiny bit lighter and put out similar power.
  15. Genius.. ..do you think they see the irony or not?
  16. If you use standard G60 shocks or similar with the G60 H&R springs then the ride should be ok, but if you fit Koni TAs or sporty dampers then the G60 H&R springs are no good as they are not designed to be used with those damping rates.
  17. Joey, I have Koni sport top adjustable dampers and the H&R VR6 springs fitted to my 16vG60, don't get the G60/16v springs with sports dampers as they are a horrible miss match and ride badly. My gap between the top of the tyre and wheel arch is around 5-6cm.
  18. Carbon canister should purge all fuel vapour with the engine running. When the engine is not running it is suppost to store fuel vapour. As you have been changing a fuel line in that area I would check those first and anything else you way have caught or moved during this as it is more likely that this is the source of the petrol smell.
  19. Good kit, I still have one of these laying around that was fitted to my G60, you can also fit a gearshift balance weight to a G60 with this kit fitted which improves the shift feel massively.
  20. Halfords industrial ones (black) are worth the investment as it should do you for years - I find the cheaper stuff irritating as the drawers stick or the chests wobble around. The pre-formed drawer liners with the tools in are also a good investment, they fit nicely, have a good range of stuff, the tools are pretty good and if you break one you can just take it back again.
  21. IIRC the charger 'halves' are matched to one another at build, you can replace the inner scroll with a new one as there is tolerance for that.
  22. Ok folks I am locking this up for the following reasons: 1. This is a discussion to be held on the Corrado club website and forum as right now frankly it has nothing to do with the Corrado forum. As a mod on this forum and a Committee member in the club I am very aware of the need to balance the two. 2. I think it has about run its course and we seem to be starting to go round in circles. 3. It is confusing some folks who think the club and the forum are one and the same by having it here. 4. Merry Christmas (Or whatever you may celebrate).
  23. Vaughan, a 1/3rd drop in the current climate and given the number of Corrados that have been scrapped in the same period that is quite a good figure. The last shows I attended over the last couple of years have all seen reduced visitor numbers, with the exception of the classic car show, BVF have even called it a day and closed. The Sprinter is not out as often as we would like, mostly due to a lack of content, that is a vicious circle, no mag and folks won't produce content, etc. This would need a higher operating level to achieve this. James, completely agree on the Gazebo front, the Classic car show at the NEC really highlighted the presence that a logo Gazebo would bring, the advantage something like that would bring from my perspective is a professional presence, the top end ones are designed for rally teams to use so are weather and wind proof to a very good degree. I will be submitting a costing at the age for this to be voted on given the high cost.
  24. Yes we have 6k in the club bank at the moment. However I will be raising the issue of getting a larger gazebo complete with club logo at the agm, a proper one of those of a decent size that will last is around the 1500 pound Mark, the flags etc only last around 3 years before they start to fray and are quite expensive to replace. So you can see where big expenditure kicks in, the normal running costs of the club should be covered by the membership fees, so sprinter, mailing, insurance, website costs should be run at cost neutral not at a loss. As for 15 quid being expensive, yes it is when money is tight for everyone but another fiver might get you 4 litres of petrol...
