1. I bet the windows don't close either if you try that.. To get the Corrado to do 'full closure' (pre 92 not including sunroof) it needs a 12v locking pulse sent from the microswitch on the drivers or passengers door handle. This pulse fires the central locking pump to the lock condition and if you hold the key in place it will also close both windows. The problem that most alarm sytems full closure option only gives an output to ground, to get around this you need to use a relay to get the locking pulse to stay on (simple relay with a 12v live into both relay activation and relay switch with an output onto the 12v locking pulse wire and the ground for the relay activation comes from the alarm.) So basically I would suspect that your relay has died..
2. The grey foam is the original stuff and does go to the 3 relays as jok mentioned, they will slide off with a good wiggle. The alarm fitters (ahem) bodge is the other two wires that are not in the foam wrapping, they may well stop you for removing the heater box. Personally after just having replaced the heater matrix I would spend the extra hour or so that it takes to get the dash out, its only held in by 4 bolts and 1 nut (2 bolts live under the scuttle), and makes the heater box removal a lot easier. Make sure you clean out all the gunk and debris from the bottom of the matrix housing as that is what makes them go pop along with skanky coolant, well worth cleaning up the lever and sticking some fresh foam on the flaps as they will be well past there best too. I also replaced every seal in the heater system, about £20 all in from VAG and it means I am not losing what little airflow there is through gaps in the system.
3. Just get a chargecooler. Easier to fit, more stable temps and by the time you hack the car apart trying to fit a larger FMIC style intercooler you will have spent around the same money.
4. Fuel pump relay or the ECU relay as that provides the switching signal to the fuel pump relay IIRC (its late and I am tired and my head is full of VR stuff)
5. Don't bother the mk2 Golf seat base is a single piece of foam for the centre and the bolsters. No go from Newton Commercial, the mk 1 item is no good and they don't want to produce a Corrado item. So I will try KipVRs contact and see what happens. I think it would be easy enough to get 100 or so produced as a limited run but then we would need 100 folk on the group buy and the time it takes to send out 100 bolsters is something I don't have until October :)

Steam Cleaner

Saw one in homebase for cheapo the other week, I did think about getting it but didn't bother in the end. Would have been handy given the interior on the VR mind! I find headlinings tend to come up nicely with a damp microfibre and some autogleam interior shampoo misted onto the cloth.
7. Got to be some photochops in there as well. Crazy what some people think is safe to drive though.

Jetex or as Diesel Junior said use some kitchen hood filter material. The Jetex one is for a mk 2 and is a tight fit, you will also loose some of the force of the air flow as the motor has to work a lot harder to pull air through the filter; I would go for the cooker option as its cheaper and is a bit thinner too.
9. The one in my 16vg60 is still in the shrink wrapping..
10. Which would be no good on the early car that Carrots owns..
11. This company will do them: link Probably around £100 for the pair of reflectors now (was quoted £80 in Feb 09) but as you can't even buy early headlamps and late ones are £200 a go then its half the cost of a pair of one new headlamp. Another option is ARZ in Germany sell the reflectors on their own, although its 130 Euros a side.. http://ARZ Tuning

Is it an earthy smell? If so that will be all the decomposing leaf gunk that falls into the heater system and is one of the main causes of matrix failure (the bottom of the heater box where the matrix sits collects all this gunk which rots and in turn rots your matrix). It will fade with time and use but it is always worth getting all of the gunk out and fitting a filter over the scuttle seal intake to prevent bits of leaf getting into the system.
13. Like this in fact (part numbers are for Corrado)
14. No hump on the non VR6 post facelift models, I am not sure that the warning triangle is still integrated into the centre armrest area on the non-hump models either. According to the late instruction manual the first aid kit and warning triangle would be secured to the O/S/R of the boot with a rubber strap near the boot light area.
15. Quality, loving the illustrations.
16. Order one new from VW Herritage, they are available from VW classic parts.
17. Christ, perfect demonstration of what happens when stuff is left in the road. Looks like a bit of 2x4 to me..
18. Yarp but I tend to horde brand new stuff only. Several sets of indicators, fogs and headlight lenses, a 4ft high set of organiser drawer thingies with Corrado specific trim clips, screws, washers, etc, brand new early bumper, complete dash, enough spares to do another 16vg60 conversion, pistons etc etc. Just picked up a full set of leather (early) so that's going in the nugget - will need to get rid of the old interior though as I am running out of room!
19. Just bought one about 2 weeks aho for the VR as the cable clip snapped. Just consider that if you go over the UK duty rate, £38 IIRC, the Post office are going to violate your wallet for £12 just for fecking handling it, then add the duty on top of that and group buying this stuff is not always the best idea.
20. 037 133 432, get you dealer to order that number - it should be around a tenner. It is not obvious on the parts catalogue the dealer uses as it is not illustrated in the throttle body drawing.
21. Ah good old dealer demo cars, best way to get a fully loaded car with all the toys - only downside being it will have been thraped for a year! My valvers in the same boat, should really have keep fit windows, no sunroof and a grey interior but thanks to the dealer all the toys and electric recaros to boot :)
22. Quality random updateyness. Which is nice given I have spent the morning staring at the wiring diagrams working out how to plumb in my new alarm and get all the bits to work! Although it will be an easy install given the lack of carpet, underlay, interior trim, dashboard etc that is currently in the car.... Just trying to work out how to get the full closure to work and then hopefully get the sidelight to stay on for a while after locking like all the new cars do. Badges are good, liking the colour matching - you will need to get the same red on the car now! :)
23. It does look more like Nugget on the minichamps site though, must just be the lighting and image quality on the UK distributors site. Pre-ordered as I really need a nugget..
