I enjoyed the charger on my engine previously - was very smooth and plenty fun to drive - but the design of the Vortech setup wasnt great. The filter beneath the wing, the black plastic piping that rubs the turret/inner wing, the tension required for driving via the belt, plus the possibility of the belt jumping off and tearing through - that lot was enough for me to remove it. While I miss the extra power, I do honestly think the car is nippier low-mid range and I'm happier for it. You should get the best of both with the R32 engine. Just depends if you want to retain the original engine.

I'm trying out the Potenza RE050A's at the moment - probably one of the most expensive tyres I've bought - but are well recommended - could be one to try next...

i'm giving this some more thought now too. remember theres always the gearbox brakes and suspension you can do first. pete loving this thread - keep the pics coming! -
I think thats the case yeah. So you need to order an element too? I would like the glass changed on both sides of mine - if its cheap will do elements too
-
Is the heating element held on the back of the glass by adhesive? Was it the element or glass you replaced Goldie? Or both! I'm sure I read ages ago the DDI mirrors can't be used with the heating element?

I'll be tempted in a few years! Carpoid did your car get over safely when you transported it? Those wheels are gorgeous!

chargers gone. taking some time to put get loads of things done before its going back on the road. today tried black on the manifold - just out of curiosity - only used a cheap halfords black spray so the finish of course is not good. undecided on it over silver... its getting powdercoated soon along with lots of other parts - either matt black or silver. opinions? :) -
that logic is crazy. the money for an exhaust is more than the cost to get a specialist to look at the car plus the fuel to get there. its just wasting money

Nah...The possible labour charges scare the hell out of me tbh mate, if i take it anywhere they are gonna need the car for a long time going through everything. And i really can't stress how much ive tried with it. Only thing that hasn't been replaced is the knock sensor...and im told that it wouldn't cause the problem. And if im honest, i don't have a lot of faith... Neil. :) The other side of that thinking is they may save you a fortune. You probably didn't need to replace everything you have - and could have had the issue solved by now for less than half the money. Consider saving and taking it in - then enjoy the car as you hoped for when it was bought. The current approach will rarely equal a quick fix. And besides if it is major so to speak - then wouldnt you prefer to know - rather to continue to throw money at it?
-
did you ever take it to a specialist?

I've often fancied selling up for a DC2. Awesome cars. I think I'd opt for a decent DC2 over a DC5 personally. -
Hi Dom - I've got an Odyssey PC1200 for sale at present. Its what cheesewire (Kev) recommended and uses. A true fit and forget item. Granted its a little bit more - but you get what you pay for!

Was considering that yeah - although i'm sure my gf won't like 150mph ;) the ring is a possibility though - she can go shopping! no more ideas anyone?

I'm finally going to be driving the Grand Alpine Route (or La Routes des Alpes) in 3 weeks - which takes you from Thonons Les Bains near Geneva to Menton near Monaco. http://www.route-grandes-alpes.com/pages/home/index.php Trouble is - I'm still unsure of what route to take back. I don't want an epic on the way home - but the thought of motorway for 20+ hours is nasty. I'll have to see Monaco - and wondering whether to do some of the south coast (in either direction - France or Italy) or whether to come back through Italy and Switzerland - or maybe Germany. It might be nice to see some of the coast, then Italy's countryside. But not sure of what I could miss out on doing that. I'll also be stopping in Brugge on the way home. In between - can anyone please offer some ideas and advice from past experience? Thanks a lot. Pics will of course be brought back :)

whats the easiest way to do this? been caught out before and want to prevent it happening again!

Get the variant 3's - adjusting the suspension isn't as difficult as you think. Some understanding of what you're doing and then trialling your changes will give you a good idea. IMO best way to get the most out of the setup is to sign up for a track day - and spend the day adjusting till it works just right. You can soften the ride when getting back on the road - note what you've done down on paper and you can go from there.

cheers fella :) -
No - thankfully Kev recognised the symptoms and told me what the culprit was - he's had the same thing. Very lucky escape (financially!)
