Is your Corrado the most unreliable car you've ever owned?
carpoid replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
No way, mine has hardly missed a beat, and i've driven it on long distances over here. The only real 'problem' i've had is a hall sender giving up, then the coil. -
Steve do you have part numbers for those ?
-
Yep, they're very old photos, it has 18" LM's on now
-
Couple here for you ... I'm a lover of the RS on a Corrado, but i can't stand them poking out of the arches like Mr Rossys myself, each to their own i guess. I much prefer the 17's too, i had 16's for years but always thought they were a little too small, so i had a set sent here from Ireland and converted my G60 to 5x100, mine are 8" rear and 7.5" front

Never knew about that one Jim, is it 4wd like the Golf limited too ??

Hi mate ! The DOVW was Sunday (16th) down at Cranbourne racecourse. I live in Glen Waverley. Join www.vwwatercooled.org.au and maybe come to one our monthly meets if you like. The Melbourne lot are a friendly bunch .. Matt

Yeah i agree with Jim on this one, loads of people seem to be using him and his work looks to be amazing, have a look on E38 at some of the cars he's done. That Mk2 Golf G60 ('Shaggy' on here i think, plate G60 OE) was awesome!

Thats a shame mate, sorry to hear that. I had to jump through alot of hoops to get mine here, but yours sounds pretty much impossible... Can't you store it somewhere ? Do you really think you will stay in China forever ? Matt

I've found Windex to work very well, i had finger marks all over my sunroof panel until i squirted some of that on there, don't need much, just a mist of it then a rub with a clean rag, then dry it, came out perfect
-
Cheers Dan, i actually miss driving down those little country roads sometimes !! Well happy with the RS 301's !!
-
Getting parts takes a bit longer, but seriously mine has been so reliable, just have to try and stay on top of it and replace things before they break !
-
Only 6 as far as i know, 3 are owned by one guy in Brisbane, then mine, a friend in Sydney and a Storm in Adelaide. Constantly get asked what my car is, and most people are suprised how old it is !

Get it steam cleaned if you can, much better than spraying chemicals over the top of the stink thats already in there...

Yeah thats true, everyone notices what the salt has done to mine straight away when i lift the bonnet up. We don't have the rust issues that the UK has but the sun can be a real car killer though, cracked dashboards and over cooked paint etc.. (Day of the Volkswagen) Thought you might like to see some pics. Bugger all watercooled cars, just standard Mk3/4 and 5 mainly, few Mk1s and 2s, no other Corrados of course !! Thanks for the help guys, i sorted it thanks to you !! Good point about the early/late wing, i might go and cheack that in a minute....

Yeah everything seems tight, but the camber is out by a mile, the top of the left rim is nearly flush with the arch, but the right (driver side) is tucked in by about 10 mm. How can i adjust it ??
-
O i'll have a look, but the movement was at the top when i jacked it up with the bonnet up, i could see the strut top moving.. Cheers

After working till late last night getting my new outer cv's, hubs, discs etc on, i've driven it up down the road, feels OK, but look at the difference in offset here in the pics. I've also noticed the morning whilst jacking the car up the top mounts are loose, i can grab the wheel and move it in and out, should it be like that ? I got a socket onto the strut top and it kept turning when i tried, should i be holding something whilst tightening it ?? Pics, its alwayslooked a bit different from left to right, now with 17's it seems to make it more noticeable 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfImported Photos 00059.JPG[/attachment:7qx17npb] Imported Photos 00060.JPG[/attachment:7qx17npb]

Hi mate Just wondering, did you use the VR6 ABS sensor rings when you put the 5 stud hubs in ? I've noticed the G60 sensor rings are about 10mm thicker than VR6 ones, i'm not sure if i can use the G60 ones by redrlling the wheel bolt clearance holes or not yet ? Your car is going to be awesome when finished !! Matt

No i was goig to take it off to have a go at that, but i wondered if i was missing something trying to close it. I want to be able to just close it for now. When i had the panel off i could see what part was broken, didn't get a pic then though. I could see something had snapped, and when pressing the switch as if i was to to slide the roof open, the part stayed in the closed position when the rest of it slid back, was a clean break - like the side that is still OK.

ABS rings are a different thickness .... Imported Photos 00054.JPG[/attachment:wzv64a9p]

Eh up. I have searched and can't find anyone else with this problemo. My Sunroof has broken, bit of a coinsidence that it happened after a respray but i won't go into that. The mechanism has broken on one side, being the left as i sit in the car. It will tilt up and down if i press the switch and pull towards the back of the car on this bit .. 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfImported Photos 00057.JPG[/attachment:ixje176k] BUT, the problem is i can see light through it in the 'closed' position, mainly along the back and a little at the front left corner. Also the seal is new from GPC (original VAG part) and i can't get it to fit nicely, looks terrible actually.. Imported Photos 00058.JPG[/attachment:ixje176k] So does anyone have any tricks for me to just get it closed, so i can drive in the rain/mgive it a wash ? And any tricks on fitting the seal ? Cheers Matt
