Passenger side footwell is slowly disappearing under a tide of water thanks to the rain last night... Even the shelf under the glovebox has signs that water was dripping into it! I know it's coming from a poorly sealed windscreen, but I thought I'd sorted it with some silicone sealant. Might 'crack' the windscreen and then get autoglass to put in a new one properly. Anyone else suddenly got a wet car after the weekends rain?

alpine vs other head units - want to match corrado interior
.A.N.T. replied to dukest's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I've just bought the same one. Bonus of it (which I haven't tested yet though) is that the LEDs are all white so just by whipping the front apart and covering each LED in there with a filter you can have any colour you want as the illumination (though I think the LCD display will always be white) At the mo, I'm looking for some filters for it, but once it's done I'll post some pics... Also goes well with my gearknob and steering wheel. 3 RCA outs are handy, but I found the previous one I had you could 'tweak' the sound a little more (but I can't remember the pioneer number of the previous one) -
Someone's done it. Maybe from the Netherlands... Can't see anything on google, but I'm at work so can't spend too much time looking.

That's the trouble with modern cars, they're all starting to look the same. While this car looks quite futuristic it's still got lots of parts on it that look just like other cars. Don't think there's another car out there that even slightly resembles either the original sky-rockets or the C. Old, in my opinion, is definately better!!

I think you can clean out the ISV which might help... Do a search here, and on the club gti website (http://www.clubgti.com)

Would be interested to know how much a new thermostat changes things as mine runs about 33mpg, though on one motorway trip once I got over 40, but I was so lightfooted it did actually hurt me!! Averages about 33-34 though...

That's not a major list of things to do by any reconning... Sounds like a usual weekends work on mine... What's up with the tyres? how wide are the rims and what profile tyres are you running on them? Have a look on the clubgti.com message board for blowers/windscreen wipers as I'm sure I've heard of this before. Loads of stuff is the same between mk2 GTis and C's. CV joint is a pain, I'm doing it at the moment, but it's not the end of the world, fiddly rather than technically hard...

Really???? Bridges? I phoned them last weekend and they said they had nothing.

There's quite a few breakers that specialise in VW bits, and most have some Corrados in there. Phone round, but sometimes it's hard to explain just exactly which bit you need. I phone up the breakers round here every fortnight or so to see if they have any C's in but at the moment there's none... Do a search for breakers here on the forum and it should bring up some results...

what's up with it?

That is a good idea. Stealth, but still acessable from the interior... Only issue is with 3 in the back the middle seat would be a little uncomfy...

Cool.... I'll try some of that, with the suspension set on hard sometimes I think my teeth will actually rattle out.... :D

Bump.... I'm up for a GB if there's one going... Sounds like there's enough here to arrange one... Would volunteer to organise, but I have no home internet at the moment (and I might spend all your money on drink and cheap women...) If not, then I'll contact myself...

Yesterday, whilst adjusting the height of the coilovers on my car (FK Konigsports) I realised why my car has rattled over ever bump in the road. There's a plastic 'washer' about 1-2mm thick that sits on top of the lower strut. As it's unsprung, every bump and pot hole causes it to rattle about. It had a split in it, so it was more of an elongated C shape than the proper O of a washer, so I pulled them off each corner, but I'm wondering what they're for? They're in the instrutions for the coilies, so they're supposed to be there. They sit between the bump stop and the metal of the lower bit (and goes round the shiny central bit that goes up and down) Any ideas on what it's there for? I can only think of it being something for the bump stops to rest on?? Can't see it being a seal, or really serving any useful purpose? Maybe something to do with them bottoming out?? Any ideas???! (still, I'm loving the quietness of the car now, have fitted the new exhaust with new mounting rubbers and it doesn't knock at all but now I can hear the interior rattles, so I'll move onto those next!) Edit: Reading a few other posts here, it's mentioned that the bump stops can 'suck' the oil out of the suspension...??! Is this what those little plastic discs are for then?? If so I might put them back, but stick them to the bottom of the bump stops instead of letting them sit on the top of the strut... Ideas?? Click here for the picture It's a pretty poor pic, but I don't have internet access at home. On the right hand strut, between the rubber bump stop and the metal of the strut is a blue washer. That's what I've taken off... Is it needed???

Worst thing some has said about ur Corrado
.A.N.T. replied to CorradoDriver's topic in General Car Chat
"when are you going to get a proper car" is a common one... An old chap who walks by each morning to get his paper has asked me if there is anything left on it that I've not taken off... Whenever I ring up mirroredone literally the first thing I say is 'what have you broken now/what's gone wrong this week?' that though is just born of experience!! -
I'd drop another, known working, battery in there and give it a go through that one. If the battery has been standing for a year it's more than likely completely broken and will just absorb the energy from the other car. Mine was when I came back from travelling (and with a battery out of my mums 1.3 astra it fired up first time...) Have you freed up the brakes yet? Does it now move?? Mine was going to fail on the read handbrake not releasing, but I replaced the handbrake cable and now it's fine. Might be worth a try unclipping the handbrake cable and seeing if it is actually the caliper that has seized.

According to the journo's of the time, when the Corrado came out it was the best front wheel drive car of the day.... 8) I think the mk2 golf is a little quicker due to it having less weight on the 0-60, but above that the aerodynamics of the C allow it to pull away (or this is what I've found, the golf is shaped very much like a brick) Fantastic car, but even the valvers can be expensive as although they share mechanical parts with other VWs the bodywork, handles, lights etc are all expensive to buy...
-
that's if you get there first... *I would appeal, but it's up in Cambridge and the 180 mile round trip to get it seen in a court doesn't really seem worth it tbh. It's just the point of it really... Although, it is up towards Peterborough, so I could fit it in with picking up the doors...

Got a fixed penalty notice at the weekend for parking on a country lane without sidelights on (kicking myself I didn't leave one on) Didn't know it was an offence to park without your lights on? Is it?? Surely if you're battery's almost flat you can't and it's what reflectors are for? (although I was parked facing the opposite way on the road - this I think is naughty, but it's not what the ticket was for...) I was also parked well onto the verge. only the width of a tyre was on the road itself. I know the police were being overly harsh as they were quite p*ssed off as I was at a rave that they couldn't really shut down. it'd jsut be nice to have £30 instead of PC plod... Can get photos up tomorrow if need be...

Do you mean bump start, as in someone pushes you and you let the clutch up in 2nd when you're at a decent enough speed, or a jump start using leads from another cars battery? As to the problem, I've no ideas sorry. It's the valver in your sig I take it? (mine does the window/door lock trick too, thankfully only when I've been in the car. Seems to do it if you switch off and leave the key one notch away from 'on' then it does it)

I have a torque wrench you could use next time your round... In return you can help me fit my zorst.... :)

I think it's the one on the far left. or the far right. either way, it's at the far end!! Look on the cover for the fusebox, it should be etched on there...

This isn't good right! He's been driving the 303 about the legal speed limit (or just over) when the red light started flashing. Pulling over the buzzer started as well. The water temp is 110 which is way high. Oil temp is nearer normal. There's a bulge in one of the water pipes (apparently) and an oily film on the back of the car. Sounds like it's been leaking oil onto the sump and the recent rain and puddles have washed it off and blown it to the back of the car. Question is, what is wrong..? Will he be ok to drive it the 8 miles remaining to his camp if he fills it with oil again? he hasn't checked the oil level yet as the engine is still warm (hot) Any ideas? He's a member of the AA and knows most of the drivers by name he's had them out so many times so he can call them... EDIT: It's a 1.8 16v. Edit 2: Oil level is full and temp is about 100 deg now after about a half hour of standing...... on a lighter note I'm in a connundrum over a blackberry VR6 and whether to buy it or not...

What's showing as 102? The oil temp (on the MFA) or the water temp?? Not sure if my fans are on when the oil is at 102. is it a VR? Have you checked/replaced the temp sender from the bottom of the radiator?

Love it, looks really good! Prefer the red in the middle for sure, but that's jsut me and my red light fixation... (working in Kings X at the moment...) 8)
