  4. lol - I agree with Sam though - Infinity reference series are a great buy on a budget
  5. lol my local garage tried for 3 days to get the ABS light off, they just gave up and passed it in the end!
  6. bit of repair paste will get the car through MOT if you want to prioritise spending
  7. get the MOT done in a welsh village. mine passed without a CAT lol Seriously though, I'm sure someone on here has the offending parts for less than VAG and I wouldnt be surprised if an exceptional saving could be made through GSF or GPC. Stay calm and start ringing around a few garages for labour prices
  8. LMAO - nearly spat my tea all over my keyboard then, quality! Roger 1 - Garage 0
  9. lol - too many bad memories!!
  10. try quinn-direct i'm 25 with full NCD (8 yrs) no points and they offered £220 something TPFT
  11. Mate - I did one over a weekend on my valver no worries - some pics in my gallery (didnt do a how-to - sorry!!) link in the sig. Just remember - the bolts holding the dash in are under the scuttle panel in the engine bay, you wont get it out without finding them . And you may aswell get the old sticky felt out and dampen everything when ur putting it back on :D
  12. Sounds good to me boss :D I figured that it should be ok. Thanks again for all your help. I'll be buying the beers at e38 '06!!
  13. Got the car up on the axle stands yesterday and on Gavin's advice, took the crank pulley and sprocket off - (had to pull em off together as some berk had rounded off all the allen bolts on the pulley). As expected, the key has sheared on the sprocket, only problem being the crank is not looking too hot either (see pics). I'm thinking that with a new sprocket, bolt and washer it should still be a pretty snug fit and nowt to worry about - what do you guys think? I'm assuming that if the end of the crank is too damaged, I''m looking at replacing that (ouch) EDIT - some good news though, thought this would be a good time to take the TB off and knife edge it while the C is off the road. Took the feed off it and voila it had already been done - the power of positive thinking eh?
  14. hi mate - i'm running standard height on 17's and there's plenty of room for a 40mm drop (see my sig link). The only thing i;ve seen with 18's is the arches being a bit of a squeeze apparently
  15. Looks sweet from the back, and I like those "back to the future" alloys! Not sure I'm so keen on the front shot though
  16. New Info: Took the wheel off, arch linings out etc and looking straight at the bottom pulley when the motor is running the bottom pulley seems to be wiggling a bit (I'm going to take a video tomorrow) - now i dont think that is a very good sign. TDC on number one cylinder puts the rotor arm in line with the notch on the dizzy only if its rotated all the way clockwise (the dizzy). The timing mark on the cam pulley is nowhere near aligned (about 30 degrees before the mark on the cam casing) when #1 is at TDC I know most of you are at e38 but I;d appreciate any prognoses you may have when you get back
  17. whereabouts in S.Wales are you mate?
  18. Thats actually a very good point Yet still, you don't see many people above 40 (EDIT - years old) in kill your speed ads do you? They're the feckers who cant read a speed sign but coz they've got 23 years no claims they can drive around with 9 points grr
  19. Mate, gutted - least the fool stopped so you're not out of pocket, similar happened to my mum and the fecker just drove on  swap the charger for a bu66ered one quick and say yours blew form the impact!!! :norty:
  20. Quinn-direct for me - but use the search, there are loads of threads on this
