Nah, just looks like the sort of mess he likes to make of his cars! Hope whoever owns it is OK

Anyone seen dinkus recently?

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=64352 Already a thread on here dude :D ...

Yeah, depending on how you drive you can get more MPG from a VR6 easily
-
I've seen some houses selling for £3.67 million but that doesn't make my house worth the same... :) No-one here will be able to tell you how much your car is worth mate, especially when all we know about it is that its got a fsh and 4 new tyres. Valvers are currently selling from as little as a couple of hundred quid for ones needing alot of work, to £3000 for an absolute mint example.

Don't get sucked into the internet hype regarding certain companies, unless you want something very specialised done i'd try to find somewhere that isn't a million miles away from you - using companies that are at the other end of the country can be a ball ache for many reasons. I would have thought you will be able to find someone in your area, there are loads of places that will be able to carry out the work. Those that have been mentioned above seem to have good reputations, as do RKE (in my sig) but it's a long way to travel!

With the limited info given, i'd say that £1k is probebly a fair amount. As for swapping a 16v for a VR6 - I doubt you'd regret it tbh

Try putting 'sprinter' into the search mate, I got 30 pages of results Here's a few to get you started: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26220&p=729524&hilit=sprinter#p729524 viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61387&hilit=sprinter viewtopic.php?f=11&t=56137&hilit=sprinter viewtopic.php?f=1&t=53079&hilit=sprinter viewtopic.php?f=1&t=48743&p=574602&hilit=sprinter#p574602 viewtopic.php?f=1&t=48304&hilit=sprinter viewtopic.php?f=17&t=48088&hilit=sprinter etc etc

Same here, i've lost count of the amount of rados i've had and between me and my wife we've covered tens of thousands of miles in them including across the UK and Europe, we had our G60 as our wedding car and went on honeymoon in it (there's confidence! ) and we've very rarely been let down. I've got full confidence in mine and we consider it to be our reliable car out of our fleet :) Peoples experiences of rados vary massively which is down to the individual car's story rather than Corrados as a whole. I think alot of it is to do with being carefull and fussy with the car you buy to begin with, there are alot of rados out there that are unfortunately going to allways cause problems because they've not been maintained as they should and have been driven hard and modded badly etc etc - once a cars been neglected for a long while it costs alot of money to get back to being a reliable car again, whereas if you start with a nice straight car that's been looked after with decent quality parts all it's life they can be very reliable. I think you need to be prepared to risk travelling to get the right car most of the time as it's unlikely that the best car will be the one for sale closest to you - a good 7 out of 10 rados are going to be money pits (or never drive/feel as they should) nowadays. Also, the trick is to try to stay one step ahead of the game, being in tune with the car and replacing parts before they let you down and servicing regularly is important, which was something I had to be very wary of as a taxi driver, you have to keep the car on the road as much as possible :) Another thing i'd say is that alot of the time, spending £500 more on the car initially to secure a good one can save alot more in the long run - there's a big difference between a cheap car and a bargain. If you can find a genuine bargain great, but usually it'll be a case of the more you spend to begin with the less you'll have to spend out replacing everything further down the road. Shame you've had a bad experience with yours anyway Skinny, hopefully you'll be back anyway!

£1200ish? If you're lucky Depressing as it is, the reality is that you can pick up late valvers in really good nick/saught after colours for £1500-£2000

Getting the underseal off is the worst problem
-
http://the-corrado.net/wiki/index.php/I ... eplacement Allways try the search feature mate - most things have been covered before, especially common faults.
-
Hiya mate, glad you bought it :) All Corrados came with remote central locking, so yours should work - it'll also have total closure ( total closure will work off the key aswell as the alarm, just keep the key in the turned postition and it will auto close the windows/sunroof.) The vacume hose may have popped off behind the drivers side doorcard?, or the drivers handle could have been swapped at some point and not plugged in? It would be best to whip the doorcard off and have a look. If the car's got the deeper spoiler, someone's changed it at some point. If you'd rather the smaller one i'd be up for a swap :) - mine's in mint condition. Like I said to you before, if you do have any problems with the car (fairly likely at some point!) then I can fully recommend R.K Engineering in St Agnes as they know the cars inside out and also have a few spares lying around from rado's they've broken that can come in handy :) Enjoy the car anyway mate, we have some perfect roads for Corrados down this way! Allthough the weather's not helping today :(

Green bulbs might work?

Mine's silent now, it had a really annoying tinny type ressinance when I bought it but I managed to stop the bugger by taking the dash apart and reving the car untill I found where it was coming from.

Hmmm, gotta admit to being a tad jealous  I'm assuming she had a tuned valver if the TDI is running 50hp less? I wonder how much cheaper the install is than a PD? Mave - what did she get banned for? :? - shame she's not signed up here.

Good idea tbh mate, the 9a is cack!

JIMMI'S CORRADO WITH 06 GOLF GTI TFSI RUNNING GEAR
Walesy replied to JIMMI's topic in Members Gallery
I see what you're saying mate, it's a great build thread tbh. But i'm not sure it bothers him as he doesn't come on here any more, it'd be great if he did though so that people like Stan could try to get to the bottom of what's going on, after all he has been waiting for eight months :) If Jimmi's not happy about these posts in his thread i'd be more than willing to move them somewhere else if he wants, he's welcome to post in here or PM me or any other mod and we'll split the thread for him :) -
Good point Jim, and I agree - insurance in this country is a complete piss take. I got myself a quote the other day from HIC and it was literaly laughable  - they padded out the policy with extras that I neither asked for or wanted and then told me they wanted over a grand for me and my wife to be insured on a poxy 16v

Weren't these Blue Joes?

JIMMI'S CORRADO WITH 06 GOLF GTI TFSI RUNNING GEAR
Walesy replied to JIMMI's topic in Members Gallery
I'm staying impartial on this, it's a strange one tbh, because there's allways been those that stand up for the dude wholeheartedly, slating those that are owed money/parts for speaking out against Jimmi. From an outside point of view, all I can think is that there's no smoke without fire - If Jimmi was 100% to deal with then why are there SO many people that reckon he's wronged them? Maybe he's loaded and is a great guy etc, no-one has disputed that. But there's also no doubting that there are quite a few members of the forum that have been let down by him. Very strange. -
Automatic spoiler, ambient temp guage, passenger sunvisor mirror light - yes Petrol light, lights on buzzer - nope.

£2k isn't too bad, Corrados seem to be pretty cheap at the moment. All i'd say to you is not to buy it just because it's local, make sure you buy it for it's own merit. It's worth travelling up country to get yourself the right car if this one isn't for you. Good luck with it anyway :)
