The weight of 7.5x17" MOs is 10.1Kg/22.9lbs apparently, which is light!
-
OZ Turbos were only available as 7x15" 4x100 - though I do believe that Justmatz made a custom one-off set of 16s... One thing I would say is that whatever you go for, make sure they're light! Everyone moans about the ride quality on 17s, but I has rather light RS301s on mine prior to (temporarily) putting the Speedlines back on, and the difference in ride quality was negligible due to the light weight of the BBS. The reason I picked the OZs was because I knew they'd be light (which they are!), and hence why my recommendation is the Compomotives. Having said that, I believe you can get OZ Futuras in 5x100 if you search hard enough, and they'd be lush...

Get the MO's, get them now! Light, strong, and very similar to Speedies... :) Just use a 10mm spacer to get them sitting right... ;)

Sounds like you may have a boost leak somewhere...?
-
A new set of wheels has been sourced, and they're not TT Comps...

oops yeah, i meant Caddy!

Yeah, get some pics of the Cabby up mate! ;)

Valve stem seals can be done with the head on - the garage will pressurise the cylinder with air to hold the valves up, but the guides will need to be checked for wear as if they're worn, the new stem seals will last no time at all. To check whether stem seals is the most likely cause, stick the car in whatever gear gives you about 4-5000rpm at the top of a long hill and go down it with your foot off the throttle pedal. At the bottom, stamp on the gas and see if that's when you get the cloud of blue smoke. If so, you're most likely looking at stem seals iirc.

[Mod edit - this will now be the coverall thread for people asking about wheel fitment/sizing. A few online resources are listed below and the thread will be added to and kept relevant as people post various questions & info.] For those of you who are wanting to know what size tyres you should be running to keep rolling radius the same, and what effect changing the width or offset of your wheels will have, here are some useful sites: Tyre/wheel size calculator Another tyre size calculator Wheel offset calculator Standard wheel/tyre/offsets: 4-stud Corrados - 6.5x15", ET35, 195/50-15 or 185/55-15 5-stud Corrados - 6.5x15", ET43, 205/50-15 Wheel Fitment, Tyre Stretch and Speedo Error Calculator (thanks to stereoflaver) Insert your existing wheel and tyre specs, and the desired size, and the outcome is shown on the diagram. Bear in mind most tyre manufacturers vary slighty from the specs, and that it could be dangerous to run tyres on wheels they aren't designed to fit. The strut shown in the diagram is for show only - Don't worry if the wheel looks like it fouls!

I'm not the biggest fan of S*it and Polish... ;) http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk did Jay's 'vette wheels and a damn fine job they did too!

"Is that a Corrado with a Wolfsburg badge over there...?!" "Burn him!"

How many miles is of less relevance compared to what type of miles - as the vast majority of engine wear happens in the first five minutes, I'd rather have a 100K motorway miler than an 80K short journey'd one... Mines on over 130K and runs like a dream thanks to a head rebuild and chains/tensioners - but there's nothing to say that it actually needed it...
-
Jay, you seem to be hinting about selling up rather a lot at the mo! I have these thoughts on an almost hourly basis but they never amount to anything!

Part number 191 819 166, order it from the stealers, takes about half an hour to replace and does the job perfectly. :)

Well, iirc from browsing ETKA the other day, you can get additional seals for dusty climates - maybe this is one of those seals?

2E is the alternate 2.0 8V - it's what's in my Passat, and was also in the MK3 Golf GTi 8V, along with the ADY.

AFAIK they're not FM aerials, they're for GPS... Standard radio reception is only bad if the amplifier in the base of the aerial's knackered... Have a search, it's been discussed a bit... :)

What's the rarest car you've ever seen?
gradeAfailure replied to StormVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Yup, Laura and I saw a Mercedes McLaren SLR on Friday whilst collecting our runabout, and also saw a Noble M12 as well... 8) -
So Wakefield > Southampton = 226 miles And yeah, private plates don't exactly count as location identifiers! I reckon davecash's would be hard to beat - he has scarlett's old valver, which on SU comes from Glasgow and is now around Portsmouth - a shade over 440 miles!
