Well, they arrived yesterday and I'm pretty damn chuffed! They're actually three-piece, not two-piece like the seller thought, and they are gen-ewe-wine OZ as well... got some T1S on order as I know they look good with a stretch, just waiting on some new centre caps and need to get some new wheel bolts too... Just out of interest, I weighed one of them without tyre and it came up at 11.9Kg - is this light or heavy for an 8.5x17"?
-
Neither, both have already been done! Now, Borbet E on a rado, that's not been done afaik...

What Engine to replace the VR6 ???????
gradeAfailure replied to swindon-corrado's topic in Engine Bay
IIRC from the torque plots of Jay Renshaw's 24V at the last Stealth RR day, the 24V makes more torque than the 12V, and at lower revs too... -
My council garage got broken into... again.

mate, sorry to hear that - and just as i was considering putting the 'rat in a garage for a month or so whilst i sort stuff out... maybe not then... i think that you should legally be allowed to beat the living crap out of someone stealing your stuff, or electrocute them, or pretty much anything you like really. pikeys like that need burying alive, killing them first is more than they deserve... grrrrr.... -
Tell you what, I'll drop a VR into my Passat, put new suspension on it, refurb the wheels and you can have it for £3k - there you go, VR power, leather and aircon... ;)

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

Replaced bonnet cable (not taking any chances after the grief I had getting Phil's open!) and broken clip, changed gearbox oil for Silkolene Silktran Syn 5 (mmmm, smoothness), changed engine oil and oil filter. Took engine cover off to allow easier access for throttle body replacement, then discovered I need a 6mm allen key bit to remove the TB, and that happens to be the one I lost. Arse. Decided to colour-code engine cover instead... -
Take the standard cover off, measure it up, buy a sheet of stainless steel or ally, make a replacement. Polish it to within an inch of its life and feel very smug. :)
-
ah, yes it was the USB cable... darn!
-
Yeah, get yerself a nice 2.0 16V - reliable as they come (apart from the 8V!)
-
Damnit! ah well, with both cars needing an oil change, couldn't really afford £70 on oil when £45 got me 15 litres of Synta Silver... Next time though, mark my words... Also annoying that it comes in 5L bottles and the VR takes 6L... ;)

http://www.camskill.co.uk/brands/federal_tyres_uk.php still reckon you should slam it on the 14s... ;)
-
Try it on the front mate - if they'll fit over the brakes I reckon it'd look pretty damn cool!

So, no comments on the Konigsports yet - odd actually, I'd have thought that there were quite a few people running them!

What Engine to replace the VR6 ???????

I suspect the general consensus will be to go 2.8 24V, unless you're feeling flush and can afford an R32 lump! -
Are they off a BMW or are they actual 301s? Yeah, cleaning them can be a bitch!
-
Have a look in Suppliers Forum, under a thread I started titled "The Phirm"!
-
Could well be the ignition switch... It's what the Passat was doing when the switch went... Get a 2 foot length of thick wire with a female spade crimp on the end (I can make you one if you like!), plug it onto the starter motor solenoid, get someone to turn the ignition on, then touch the other end of the wire to the +ve terminal of the battery - if the car starts, it's your ignition switch.
-
Yeah, I wouldn't have thought that any 205 tyre would have a protector big enough to cover the lip on a 9" wheel!
-
Seriously, if you're not far from Sandhurst, it'd be worth your while to drive the extra 25mins and go to The Phirm - you won't find anyone better round here... :)
-
i think it's part of the main front panel unfortunately mate...
-
We have 2 Corrados... ;)

Just ordered 4 litres of Silkolene Silktran Syn 5 as it's a bit cheaper than the MT90 - hopefully doing the 'box oil this weekend... Might have to get some of the Slick50 too though if it'll help as well... :)
