  1. Well, I was having all sorts of cooling issues - there's a big thread on it somewhere - but with a GSF stat and my old heat exchanger I was getting 95deg coolant and 138deg  oil temps at motorway speeds... Several coolant flushes, a Neuspeed stat, a new heat exchanger, and I'm now seeing 80 coolant and 112 oil on motorways, 85-90 coolant and 108 oil around town - and that's with the weather like it is at the mo!
  2. Nope, oil and coolant comes up to temp just the same as normal, cos the stat only opens at 80deg, so up til then it's exactly the same as with a standard stat... Have to say though, was pleased to see coolant at 80 and oil at only 114 after a quick stint at 120mph (roads were empty officer, and I'm not showing off, not after seeing the pics on that SEAT forum...) But the standard stat's fine anyway, I wasn't getting at ya! :D
  3. But that's like saying you shouldn't modify any area of the engine as VW know best...! If yr running more boost, etc, then it's better to keep the temps a bit lower, would you not think? Hence why people fit Mocal oil coolers and such - do the cgti boys thinkyou shouldn't do that either?!
  4. Hmmm, I got a temp sender from GSF and it turned out to be totally wrong for my car! Though this could be cos mine's a bit of an oddity (2.0 8V with aircon)... I would seriously recommend the lower temp stat though, unreservedly; but with a standard temp fan switch... This way the temp is lower, but the fans aren't cutting in all the time...! What are they saying on cgti then?
  5. Wow, I got something right! Steve, from what I've heard, the Koni/H&R setup is the best compromise for making the Corrado handle like it should whilst retaining the comfort and giving you a small ride height drop so the car doesn't look as much like a 4x4! Edit: I'm assuming RHA = Ride Height Adjustable
  6. TBH, I'd say spend the extra and get a Neuspeed stat - if you're intending to anyway, and just need a working stat til you get it, then do test the GSF one before installing it!
  7. Technically, all suspension on Corrados is "coilover" as the spring coil is over the shock... However, what people mean when they talk about coilover suspension is suspension with adjustable ride height - the lower platform that the spring sits on is not fixed, but consists of two rings that can be moved up and down the shock to raise or lower the ride height... And if I'm being nitpicky, calling the shocks "shocks" is wrong, as it's actually the springs that absorb the shock - the other part is the damper, as it damps and controls the rebound rate of the spring - hence why you're getting a bad ride as the springs and dampers aren't matched... hope this makes sense!
  8. http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/vw%20golfmk2/engine.html I know the link says it's for the MK2 Golf, but scroll to the bottom and you'll see the Neuspeed stuff, and it'll fit all 4-cyl VWs witht a 3-pole fan switch... Got the stat on mine, and 80deg coolant temp at motorway speeds is very nice indeed!

    ET ?

ET stands for EinpressTiefe, and literally means "insertion depth" (I think - Tempest, feel free to correct me!) The lower the number, the closer the mounting face of the wheel is t the centreline, and so the further out the wheels will stick. The higher the number, the more the wheels will be tucked into the arches. I think the factory offsets are ET35 for the 4-pots and ET43 for the VR boys...
  10. Dark, poss black, G60 parked on lower half of Guildford High St last night - J***OPJ
  11. Flog the Golf?! Does this mean you have a 'rado now...?!
  12. I'm liking this! Although, I do still need to do your headlight switch and leccy window switches, then we'll talk about those beers... ;)
  13. You can still get them from Scorpion - they do still exist, kinda! Try emailing Tony Heys (Scorpion/ElectroSystems' tech guy) at: tony-at-electrosystems-dot-co-dot-uk A replacement remote will be about £35 or so... HTH!
  14. Nothing done on Sen tonight, but fitted red switches to JMC's very tasty black G60 and sent him away a very happy chappy! Cheers for the beers buddy! :D :drinking:
  15. You've ruined Christmas...
  16. Kev, you're quite welcome to take a ride in the barge sometime - the VR will seem like a rocketship after that!
  17. I've been running German plates (with "D" symbol) for a few months now and not been pulled for them despite being followed by police cars on numerous occasions... Though it's probably because I'm still running standard spacing, no hyphenation, and a yellow plate on the back... I'm sure it'll change once I go for the full-on German style with plaketten and a hyphen!
  18. You had much magazine interest in the car Jay? Obviously that's not why it was built, but I think the world deserves to see it!
  19. Car looks sweet mate, welcome to the forum!
  20. I would rather have the exact same shade tbh, as the inside of the sunroof has the same material on it and a mismatch would just bug me...! However, if you should see a Passat with a sunroof with a squidgy light grey fabric headlining then by all means do let me know! :D
