Thanks for the write up, sounds like a good diff. Will keep it in mind when my gearbox needs a rebuild :)
-
My car background is jap, and there is a lovely Mazda 323 GTR on newera's web site. very tempted......shame the corrado is such a great car :D
-
I think there should be a large earth cable from the gearbox to the battery that you would have to remove to change it. If this isn't connected then the ecu gets spiked and the car throws a wobbly. Could have come loose after a bit of driving. would be my first port of call

Just re-registered, looking great. A big :notworthy: to all involved!!

Thank you to DANG60 for the boost return pipe, delivered unbelievebly quickly, packaged well (though I will get you back one for the missing guitar one day!!) Thanks again Dan :D

G60 whistle during rev build up and ecu removal
MattWilde replied to corrado_sunderland's topic in Engine Bay
does the whistle disappear when on WOT? if so it's probably the air passing by the return butterfly in the throttle body, if not then maybe a leak somewhere -
yeah, it changed a while ago. really annoying as i used to enjoy messing about with it :(
-
this is probably wrong but it might help. Have you tested the screw in sensor on the fuel rail that makes the fan run on after the ignition is swtiched off? or any relays/wires and associated stuff with that sensor.
-
Prob your best bet, they have loads of knock sensors listed on the site but they all seem to be for golfs and passats, i'm sure they can't be any different though. 310440050 is the blue ended one (the one for my GTi) and that is listed at £34.06, but i don't think I've ever paid full price from them for anything
-
Eurocar parts sold me one for my MK2 GTi so I guess they can get G60 ones, was about £30 I think but I can't remember exactly. ECP are always good for a haggle anyway :)

Toad, I completely understand what you are saying, and agree mostly but I live on the border of two counties (bucks and oxon) and they both do different things. Bucks re-surface with new tarmac, they close off half the road to do one side, then repeat for the other. In the 27 years i've been alive I only remember this being done once, and the roads that have been done are still lovely and smooth. In Oxon they use this glue and stones stuff, similar delays with driving at 10mph but with the added annoyance of stone chips and possible windscreen cracks. Then at junctions, where the new surface has been torn by people turning their wheels, it gets shut for a day and gets repaired. This can happen a few times over the course of a year. Then it happens all again a few years later, the bypass I have to use everyday has been done 4-5 times in my memory. I just can't see it being a good long term fix, short term saving but long term loss and bloody annoying for the users of the road. They are currently doing the road I use to get to work, and after one day of trucks flying past at 50mph I now use another road to cut out as much of the resurfacing as poss.

A few photos, if I have figured this out What a car
-
will the car run with it removed? i know it can be bypassed whilst it is fitted but the OP needs to drive it as a daily. If you can afford it, having a spare fresh built charger wouldn't be a bad thing though

I think the staging part of a rebuild differs from builder to builder, there is no written guide to how much porting produces what stage. if I rebuilt chargers I could do as much porting as a G-werks stage 4 but call it a stage 6, sounds better but does no more than the G-werks. The best bet with chargers is to send it to G-werks, they deal the chips, and have the best rep for rebuilds. I'm sorry if that is explained badly but I hope it helps

it was the pearl white EVO car with the yellow interior, all info is on http://www.6thgearexperience.com, it did cost a bit but included a demo lap (it was based on Prodrives airfield test track near warwick) in a BMW to show you the track, then 4 laps in the supercar you booked, then a lap as a passenger in an M3 CSL with one of the insrtuctors giving it some beans. The lap isn't massive but has 2 good straights, and with 8K rpm gear changes i managed to get into 4th but was concentrating too much to see the speed, and some good twisty bits. I was petrified of stacking a £225K car but it inspired so much confidence when driving it that i couldn't help flooring it, the sound was pretty awesome too :D The whole place, the staff and instructors that sit in the car with you are really nice and relaxed and it calms you down, my instructor was saying how much more dangerous it is with nervous, twitchy drivers so they want you as relaxed as you can be. I'll hopefully get some pics up later today (never done it before so it might be late) but all I can say is that as much as it didn't feel long enough, i'm not sure if a whole day in that car would be enough and with only 17 in the country it was worth every penny for the experiance, I want to work for EVO!!!

No taxes included in tha price, I just took a rough guess at the £ price from the $895 that is on the website. I would think that getting in touch with TSR would be better, £550 sounds like a great price, but i did contact autotech through the e-mail address on their site

 Just got back from one of those track experiences that my great parents got for me. Had a choice of cars but opted for the Lamborghini LP640, only 17 in the country I think, and WOW! what a completely mental car. I have no idea what top speed i got but it felt liike i was being pulled along by the love child of superman and a rhino and it felt great in the corners, loads of grip and felt very balanced. Thankfully it was a manual 'box as i have never driven with flappy paddles and would have been worried that the natural instinct to go for a clutch and lever if it went a bit pear shaped would have taken over. The car I drove is the one EVO has as a long term test car so you can see pics of it on their web site until I get some pics on here, shame it has made normal life seem a little slow :( Highly recommended

my interpretation of the web site description was that the wavetrac diffs are built with the arp bolts, and the kit is for the quaifes  might be me reading what i want to see though
-
Sent an email to the company after reading about it and got a very quick response. When my engine is in and all mapped up the next thing on my list was a 'box build with a peloquin, but autotech are happy to ship to the U.K so I'll probably give it a go. $895, so about £450 isn't bad if it's an improvement over the quaife/peloquin diffs. I'll keep you lot updated if I go for it

I'm on there now too, oxford is the place 8)

That's the boost return pipe location that would go from under the throttle body back to the charger (search for it on here) people take them off and block the charger end to stop the hot air being recirculated. So i guess that oil and smoke from there is coming from your charger, you can check it's boost levels using the 'hidden' MFA section, again a quick search will bring up how and what to look for for a healthy charger. Sorry if it's bad news HTH

I had the height only adjustable Weitec coilovers fitted last year by voodoo motorsport, but I had all my bushes and mounts done too so I can't be too precise on their actual feel but as a package with all I had done I'm really really pleased. Sticks like glue and I wouldn't consider them uncomfortable at all, but as said, a bad road is a bad road regardless of suspension

isn't water vapour the biggest greenhouse gas? this'll be worse than petrol/co2 emitions for the environment for more reasons than stated above if it is :cuckoo:

B4009 between Chinnor and Newbury, Fantastic mix of really tight twisty corners with buildings right next to the road and long sweeping open corners and straights, much better way of getting from Oxford to Newbury than the A34

soon as my house mate has finished and i'm back from the off license i'll be on for some racing
