  1. Did you properly degrease the pressure plate? And made sure the flywheel was clean before refitting? All the pressure plate to clywheel bolts were torqued up? How about the release arm? was that straight and fitted correctly?
  2. Saw a dark, maybe DBP VR6 at West Whittering beach last weekend. And a blue Storm on the A34 southbound near Oxford this morning. I was in the passenger seat of a discovery, looking out the window like a mong, you looked back, I still looked mongy.
  3. Cheers dude, some good knowledge there. How do I 'fix' the brake bias valve? Take it to someone to adjust? There's a 13mm nut and bolt that needs slackening off and tightening so that the spring is just under tension when the wheels are on the ground.
  4. Test bed for the 6R4 engine. :luvlove:
  5. If anyone is local to me, they're welcome to have a look at mine/compare them. I did have a look at mine this evening and the light is nice and white from the headlights, instead of the somewhat yellow affair they were previously.
  6. I'd avoid removing the arch liner. The wings don't have brilliant paint on the inside, and rot out in the bottom easily enough anyway.
  7. That is probably the best thing about this thread. Edit. Probably the best thing about the internet.
  8. Ooof. Broken achilles makes me feel quite ill. If you need any help, give me a shout.
  9. It does make a difference to the VR, they see it as some sort of air leak if removed.
  10. Have you tried bridging the contacts? It might be that unplugging the sensor makes the light flash.

    Unplugged switch

I think you're supposed to have a pick up ring on one of the HT leads, which might plug into that plug. It's to help the ECU know which cylinder is firing, like a Cam position sensor. The ISV looks like one from an early golf or something. Edit. Actually the ISV does look like one off another 2l 16v. I was sure they all looked roughly the same....
  12. Just trial fitted one of these looms to my VR this evening, really, really surprised how much better the lights are with it. Looks to b e a very nice bit of kit. Will be completing the install this week. Cheers Guys!
  13. Yay! I made it into your gallery! What sort of rev limit do you have on that engine? What's the Saab coilpack like? Comparable pricewise to standard? Would the standard ECU drive it?
  14. Your best bet is to buy a proper gearbox drain plug socket. Think it's either 17mm or 19mm. Make sure the filler plug can be removed before dropping the drain plug out. Your gearbox has MT90 in it already.
  15. It really varies, sometimes you can spend hundreds, sometimes you spend nothing. It will cost you more than you budget, no matter what.
  16. Can you stick to your existing thread about central locking?
  17. If it's started cracking, then it'll only be a matter of time until it goes completely. I'd bit the bullet and get a new radiator. I can't see you removing the bolt now the insert has started spinning.
  18. No, I mean the wheel well in the boot, where the spare lives. And don't call me Shirley.
  19. I prefer the feel of the early stalks, I don't think the early units would look too bad in a late car.
  20. I think I'd just take a socket along to remove the adapters, rather than spend £45 on a space saver that might not fit in the rear wheel well. :cuckoo:
  21. Yan has also stripped his down. Kev, where's your sense of adventure? I must admit, I'm a little bit frightened by fishing around in gearboxes, too many things to check and adjust, and get wrong. I would inspect and replace these selector nubbins as necessary, I got the impression mine were knackered from operator error/abuse.
