  1. Currently 95 octane with wurth octane booster. Seem to have had better fuel economy since trying it.
  2. I'd be up for watching and would like a run if it helps numbers. Had a modification that I'd like to see the result of. :)
  3. Can be done. I looked into it and decided that for the hassle of finding someone to do it, I could get one trade price with a 2 year warranty for not much more.
  4. I bought these new from VW, they're all black coarse threaded screws now. Think 4.8 is the diameter of the thread, and 16 the length. Personally I'd go to VW again, the new screws should last a while, they were cheap and personally, shiny stainless screws and nuts in the black arch liner would look a bit odd.

    oil temp on VAGCOM?

VAG COM doesn't show oil temp, it can only display sensors that connect to the ecu, the oil temp isn't one of these. There usually is a discrepancy between the gauge and what the ECU says, might be worth getting a new temp sensor for the ECU though, just to placate yourself.
  7. You want to be a bit careful with the water pipe to the throttle body, it's got a one way valve in it, and can affect coolant flow to an extent. ORLY??? Yeah, some people have jumped to the wrong conclusions, but they weren't given all the facts at the beginning, and to be fair for someone who's been around here a long time, and a lot of people will have expected to have done lots of homework before buying a VR, you could be percieved as being a little naive at times.
  8. Sounds like a case of it not going back together right. Methodically work through everything you did and make sure everything is connected or done up properly, including the HT leads being on right.
  9. I think it's doable, just more awkward as you can't see it properly.
  10. Have you tried twisting or wiggling it a bit with the one side tipped up a bit? Wonder if there's a foreign body stopping it turning properly. Want to make comments about you being up to your elbow, twisting and tugging hard.
  11. Do both CVs move properly? The gearbox end one shout allow some in and out movement. I'm just wondering if this is sticky, then it could be encouraging the bolts to come loose.
  12. Wonder if it was self amalgamating tape?
  13. Any idea how many more Scirrocos were built than Corrados? There's now 3 generations of them. The originals were built from 1974 to 1992. They were sold along side the corrado? Either way, still an old school car for the older folk imo. If they had badged the new rocco as a corrado wouldnt that make it 2 all? lol Yup, there was a J plater at BVF for sale. Looked tidy. What about the fact that the Corrado was supposed to be the Mk3 Scirroco, or the fact it made a loss and didn't sell that well? The Corrado was a low end Porsche equivalent back in the day, I can't see the new Scirroco, or an A5 based coupe taking on the Boxter or Cayman. The new Scirroco isn't a Scirroco either TBH, if it had been called a Corrado we'd all be calling it an abomination to the name because it doesn't break all the time, the door handles work and it doesn't have a spoiler that moves up and down.
  14. You need to hold the bias valve open on the rear beam. Admittedly, some fluid should come through, just slowly.
  15. Any idea how many more Scirrocos were built than Corrados? There's now 3 generations of them. The originals were built from 1974 to 1992.
  16. Just some 4Gb cards that were cheap in Tesco, think they're class 4. SD and SDHC are essentially the same. SD was only designed to take up to 2Gb or something, SDHC (High Capacity) is the name given to any cards with larger capacity than 2Gb.
  17. Get hold of the engine, probably by the inlet and give it a good shake, if you can move it, the gearbox mount is probably at fault. You can normally see a thick oily goop all over it if it's gone. Sounds like it'll be ok, let it cool right down tonight and recheck it tomorrow just to make sure.
  18. Is your gearbox mount knackered? They can accelerate wear on these pipes. Doesn't sound abnormal with the coolant. It had probably gotten to boiling point hence coming out the header tank (boiling point is increased with pressure) Top it back up and moniter. If the heater stops, or any of the pipes run cold then you might have an airlock.
  19. that may have been toad, think he lives down that way[/quote:1kcu4aa9] He used to be around Winchester, he livin' in Bristol now? Haven't seen his face pop up in a while...[/quote:1kcu4aa9] Coooooooeeeeeeeeeeee. Been snowed under recently, so made very few appearances. Wasn't me I'm afraid. Still in Winchester. :)
  20. I would never ever contemplate driving a car if the oil light came on. Switch it straight off and find out what is up with it. Even if I suspected a sensor, it's just not worth the risk!
  21. Wow. Didn't think you'd sell. To be honest I think you're being way too picky on the faults. It's a stunning car.
