  1. Yeah. Unhook the throttle cable and see if it settles back onto the switch, also see if the throttle butterflies open and close smoothly.
  2. I thought the GSF ones weren't a good fit?
  3. I had a stroke this morning, and I didn't smell toast. I was sniffing your old pants though Steve. :luvlove: Check the pcv valve/rocker cover breather pipe for damage and oil dripping onto the exhaust heat shield. You will probably see some discolouration on it if there has been anything dripping.
  4. I've not seen it repeated since replacing the rear wheel bearings, it has to be said, although they were't technically knackered.
  5. Check the throttle cable isn't over adjusted. or sticking.
  6. I don't quite know what to say.... Half want to tell you that I'm going to cock slap some sense in to you, half want to comiserate. Where is the fuel coming from?
  7. It's a ballast resistor for something, it clips onto the ABS pump with a little bit of fiddling.
  8. No, they're 12 point spline drive bolts. Can't remember what size, maybe 6mm?
  9. Actually reading your reply properly.... The transponder ring is around the ignition barrel, just take the steering wheel cowling off, and the box is below the instrument panel, remove the under dash card.
  10. The transponder ring can fail, I replaced mine before I found the blown fuse, cost about £30. Otherwise bad contacts between the cable from the transponder to the little black box under the dash can play up.
  11. Don't worry about it. There is nothing that can be wrong with it that's worse than what you've already encountered...
  12. I watched the testers going over my own car for it's first MOT since it's rebuild. It was painful. All worked out nicely though. :)
  13. If it was just the spoiler or sunroof that caused the fuse to blow, then you need to sort them. Otherwise, as long as the fuse doesn't blow, the car should start with no issues. You can't remove the immobiliser, it's built into the ECU, the only way to get rid of it is to have the ECU doctored. I had this issue and it turned out to be a short in the glovebox light.
  14. Looks like it is the oil cooler. Noticed mine is weeping from there today. I will take the front off to do mine. Will make it a lot easier. The cracked PCV valve will definitely not help with the running. You can get a new one from Ford cheaper than VW, search on here for PCV valve. The thermostat housings are a well known weak point. There's at least one excellent guide on here talking about how to change it.
  15. For ages I just thought you were a mental, so ignored you, but I suddenly realised what you meant. And I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment.
  16. Dark blue, N plate VR on Albert road just down from the Wedgewood rroms on Thursday night (went to see Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip). And saw _Andy_ driving down the road just after I parked up.
  17. I used silage clamp sheet, probably the same thing. Was going to make up some sets of membranes and flog them, but I'm way too lazy.
  18. Was a present from Dinkus. :luvlove:
  19. We've got some good metal racking and pigeon holes back at home on the farm, I was hoping to pick some more up but it's all bent and knackered. Probably ought to wait until the garage is sorted, and I move the 3 pallet loads of spares from the farm to the house.
  20. Just take the heatshield off.I can't imagine it's actually that good at sheilding anything from the heat. If you run into problems get it welded back on properly. Or even have a mild steel one made up that fits better?
  21. Yeah, I've filled it already. Going to keep an eye out for something larger when I've got a bit more money saved. Trouble is, as soon as I've got more space I'll buy more tools. Managed to buy some cheap shelves down the tip on Friday to put more parts on, so it's a bit tidier.
  22. None sadly, although I do have some funny bites now.
