I've never had radio in the corrado. It didn't come with a headunit and I've had 2 or 3 in there and radio hasn't worked or been really weak signal. I did check all the wiring so assumed it must be something to do with the base or the aerial and gave up.

My original engine with 194,000miles on it didn't tap, but had bottom end noise. The replacement was 3rd hand, but had some work done on it in the past, unsure of mileage but that tapped, i replaced the lifers for INA ones and the tapping went away but came back about 1000miles later. The newer engine i built was mainly new parts and a head from vege, that sounded much quieter but still a very slight hint of the noise but nothing concerning, i imagine all those bits of metal and chains spinning around are going to make some noise. Would be good to know what causes it as I've had it with that 2nd engine and heard it in videos people post up.

Yeah 2006 audi a3, Is the bkd 16v engine. Should find out tomorrow if it's damaged the internals.

My runaround also died on Thursday, had the timing belt done as a precaution about a month ago, the tensioner stud pulled out the head and timing has slipped, so got two quite badly broken cars now.....Only just fitted a new turbo, wishbones, ball joints to it as well :( Pinched an astra van from work for the time being.

Nope, Stealth have had it about 7 or 8 weeks now, last time i rang they hadn't looked at it yet. I did say i was in no rush (as i want to seal up all the bodywork before using it again). Not really sure what the outcome of that will be. Keeping an eye out for a 2.8 block with crank as a backup incase they advise not to rebuild that new block i bought (either way i'll be taking that back and getting it all checked out by an engineering firm near me. I can't really believe its warped. Am considering just putting the engine i took out back in and thrashing that about and maybe get a new engine built up (not sure if i'll use stealth for that yet)

Making slow progress with the bodywork, is either too hot or too windy to do much. Did a sill over the weekend

I bought a flaremaster kit, can only seem to find links to a flaremaster2 online now. I was told them cheap ones aren't very good. Could you wrap some old inner tube around the pipe to help it grip and protect the pipe? http://www.ap-tech.co.uk/products/details/513.html I paid about £100, a mate said he would go halves up but he has never used it nor paid up, so its all mine  I love it, having never done a flare before, i've never made a duff one with it, and can use it with pipes on the car as well. Re-piped my whole car with it now. Something i wish i'd done is coated/painted the pipes afterwards.

To see it or to check it's working?

Got any pics of the hanger that came with it? I seem to remember on ny magnex the hanger could be mountef upside down which would lower the exhaust massively.
-
Not sure, mine rattles a lot and i have the same rollers I've been meaning to fit for years... Can you shake it by hand with doorcard off to see what's moving?
-
The wires don't look original to me, The only thing i can think of that looks a bit like that is the connector to the electric mirrors.
-
This is the dream, its what i have in my head to do one day, probably won't happen though, not with my luck. Hats off to you, can't wait to see it progress
-
Sorry, i've not got round to finding the ones i bought, the timing belt slipped on my 2nd car and am now without a car, i have two cars with broken engines  Been a hectic couple of days.
-
Tigerseal would stick them on forever, its like a mastic gun sealant. I plan to use bodyshop trim tape when i get round to sticking mine on. Not tried it yet but seems very sticky.
-
I tried it once but was too tight with the water and it came out with loads of bubbles
-
I think that's the ones i bought, seemed quite common when i bought some, think they are osram.
-
Its when stuff like this happens i sympathise with the mechanics getting grief off customers as to why their car isn't done yet. It would be easy if everything undid like the book says. You'll get there in the end.

Am sure i bought a box full from some electrical shop, used one or two of them, will dig them out

I was looking at his valves/guides and the springs/Lifters, me wanty :D

Before I drop the sump , for the wishbone bolt .....
Jim Bowen replied to robrado974's topic in Engine Bay
I usually take the sump off (gives a chance to clean it) -
Probably the valve seals

I actually increased the value of mine on insurance today, was £3k and now £4.5k. Not sure what difference it makes, still got the agreed value stuff to do.

I think the kind of people that buy a £15k corrado aren't really going to drive it and a lot of their reason for buying it will be the chance of making a profit. If you buy a £15k Audi RS/BMW M, you are going to be driving it most days. How much is a nice E30 M3 nowadays?
-
£140k and modified though, There will be better examples of a RS4 about. It maybe faster but i don't think its as special as a low mileage original corrado vr6 is right now. Bet that audi will cost a fair few quid if you drive it for a few years, you know something big and expensive will go wrong.
