  1. I will be pleased when it done as starting to get a bit fed up working on it all the time and the planning what bits to do when and what parts i need. I think i can fit engine now and leave some of the under body waxing and some more cavity wax until most of car is finished. Getting lots of urges to be out driving it. Might try and get a couple of weeks off work to get it up and running and fit the interior.
  2. Screeching could be the aux water pump. Mine made a weird noise but I've not been present during a dolphin bashing for a long time so can't compare.
  3. Almost done the underside now, can see the crossover point here, i had to do the rear end and then the front as axle stands were in the way. Got to order a sill repair section as some of it really needs cutting out rather than me trying to get it patched. Gave up with that for now as waiting for a repair section. Got car back on ground and gave the engine bay a steam clean (i had cleaned it already, but was so long ago it got dusty again, also i didn't have a steam cleaner back then) Wings temporarily put back on, the whole front end is just placed on really, still need to get bits painted, but all the rust is now gone. Looking more like a car now Might be fitting engine this week..
  4. I bought one of those cheap rivet guns with the rivets and used that, was about 8yrs ago and not had an issue
  5. Worth checking the wiring behind/under the battery. Is an earth point there and the wiring can also corrode there.
  6. Let me know if you need any help. Am fairly local and fitted my vr6 three times now. Also got a 2.9 vr engine i don't really need.
  7. What brand were the tappets from euro? I've used INA ones but not gotten to test them yet. Although that's what i had in previous engine with the tappy noise.
  8. That is looking pretty swish indeed!
  9. Not sure what you are after but Bresco sell alot of bits. http://www.bresco.com/ quite a site to navigate though, so much choice. Failing that i had to get certain parts from VW
  10. I've never really understood the bleeding of that bolt, is it the same with the later type of bolt and tensioner? I stuck mine in back in sept/october time but not started engine since, so wonder if i need to remove the bolt to do anything before i start engine up.
  11. I've found this thread a great help when doing mine. Mainly the photos showing what goes where etc. http://www.eastcoastdubs.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/5518-the-black-knight-corrado-vr6-restoration/
  12. I think some people just advertise at a silly high price in case some rich saudi Prince decides he wants it.
  13. I'm still using them poly inserts the chap on here did. Was it jay?
  14. Just noticed in the original link in thread, the car is photoshopped onto the background, its the same background pic and the car changes but not the photo. (if that makes sense)
  15. Worth checking exhaust manifold. I had the same thing and replaced lifters. Had heard the manifold can make a similar noise if it has a slight leak. I dismissed it but did find signs of a small blow when i dismantled engine.
  16. I use a place called maldon powder coating. Not sure what it is i get done but they do offer quite a lot. You may have already looked.
  17. Think its all meant to be solid at that point. There do seem to be drainage points along the lip on the sill though.
  18. I'll have to had a look at what i've got, i remember having to buy all the bits as sold all the old mounts and plates with the weitec suspension kit i had, i then went to to the KW V1's, then got the Koni/HR so had to buy everything again. Am sure i have early top mounts for the front, but not sure if i have the spring plates.
  19. I had some H&R springs on standard shocks and didn't seem too bad, but only ran them for a few hundred miles so maybe not a good comparison. Quite pleased with the H&R springs and Koni shocks, seemed to sit just right and also fitted the correct late type top mounts etc. I was never keen on the early mounts, they just don't seem a very tidy arrangement. Probably got some boge early top mounts if you need them.
  20. Looks like a magnex part number. Reminds me of the ones I've seen on my cat back system.
  21. Jim Bowen

    Air con

    I've removed a system.
  22. I went to dealer, it wasn't too expensive from memory about £22. I noticed the ignition switch being a recall and a revised part on the corrado, not sure what i was reading or where.
  23. Going to double check mine now as not sure what i did and was suffering from battery drain but assumed it was my dashcam. What about the cig lighter do you have switched live power there?
