  1. Yeah i found all mine at work too. The black goo tape is great for this job.
  2. I have a spare somewhere, am in essex though, near to stansted airport
  3. Had a guy come round to do a bit of welding yesterday, this is great as i can now get on and start painting things and fitting everything back on. Think i'll end up painting the whole rear vallance in a black rubber type paint. The worst bit Been plated over, it won't be seen and covered in schutz type Remade the door liner, i just used a vapour barrier we use in building houses, works quite well Still got loads to do, but i hope i can get it done within the next 2 months.
  4. Not heard of it before but i don't read every thread so might of been mentioned. I just had my 220,000 original bracket soda blasted and it doesn't look it has any weakness in it. There are alloy but hadn't corroded much. From memory one of the three bolts onto gearbox is hard to get to. So awkward i left one bolt out in the end and was fine. (replaced it now though)
  5. Am sure i looked into motors a couple of years ago and recall seeing motors from other vw cars that looked the same and cheaper. Might be worth having a look. I think i had to buy a whole mechanism in the end as i was in a rush.
  6. Still got mine after 9yrs. Not driven for a year now though and have been in a more modern car. But really miss the corrado. The thing that keeps me is knowing if i got something else i know it'll end up costing more money rather than saving money. I've made the decision anyway now and halfway through a massive rebuild of it so the money is spent now. I will finally come to a meet up when its back on the road. You can't sell up
  7. No. I did fit new vw ones though along with outer cv joints. I think i heard the price wrong and ordered both sides. Was a bit shocked when I got the invoice. Not sure on any quality difference between the brands. Its just a hunk of metal. Can't see them cracking or breaking. I find vw are becoming vastly overpriced for parts. Almost worth fitting bits that apparently don't last as long and replacing them twice. I've yet to have any part majorly fail. I also notice the vw replacement parts never seem to last as the parts fitted from new.
  8. How come? I was questioning snow foam while stripping my car down, i was worried it might cause problems and its doesn't drain off like water does and could be getting into places water doesn't normally make it.
  9. I agree, i use that Optimum no rinse as well, not that often though and not on a really dirty car. Its good for giving the car a quick clean if its stuck in the garage.
  10. About 2yrs back i had an urge to make a model. bought about 7 model kits and didn't make any of them. Started 4 of them but finished none. Some of them are nice models. Got a large scale Ferrari f1 car but it looks like it needs proper effort. Looks a fancy kit and don't want to ruin it. One day i will make it.
  11. Sometimes the levers/mechanism in the lock part can all gum up and the levers don't spring back into place. You can just about get to them if you wind window door and use the small little gap along top of door. Could try lifting them up with something or spraying some WD40 in there with the straw.
  12. Worst bit on mine, i took a chisel to the under seal to scrape bits off and on the back end i broke the seal and all this old brown water came out and the underside of car was rusting away underneath. Its worth poking any bulging bits of under seal as its so tough the rust won't break through until its quite bad.
  13. The whole show is fake as far as I'm aware the sellers are actors, the buyers are actors. Think it was the beetle they did, a guy on a beetle forum that sold them the car admits it all. Even so, i still enjoy it and gets me in the mood to go and work on the corrado.
  14. A rolled up condom with the end cut off with be quite strong, the spermicide might make it a bit slippy though.
  15. Noticed it on mine before, think it finds its way in from the front end somehow. Am going to spray some penetrating wax in all these sort of voids soon.
  16. Not sure how much they cost but i had a new one fitted.
  17. Might be worth pulling it out and having a look. There is a little copper bearing in the gearbox housing might be worth a clean. Could just be sticky
  18. I was wondering if there are any nice 2 or 4 pot calipers that fit standard wheels. I had a vague memory of someone doing it
  19. Might be the Ashtray light.
  20. How much is a BMW E46 330ci these days?
  21. Don't buy a corrado and expect it to make you any money, i learnt that long ago
  22. Teh Ctek one i posted charges batteries, but can also revive old batteries and it does say you can leave it connected to keep battery topped up, but i must admit i don't like that idea, i've just been connecting up my battery every month (as car has been off the road for about 1yr now) and battery is sitting on a shelf.
  23. I got this charger, a bit more expensive but it has a lot of features and can recondition batteries. http://mccormicktools.co.uk/ctek-mxs-50-smart-battery-charger-conditioner-12v-5a-8-stage-charge.html?gclid=CP6ljNTItMQCFYLItAodHl8ARA
