  1. Assuming you mean using brand new bits, taking into account other things that would need bringing up to standard so it was more than a shoestring effort (ie. making it reliable), then i would imagine you'd be in the nearly £3k or nearly £5k bracket respectively..
  2. you've still got 5 years till your deadline! :D
  3. I can't... I think she's a Prius driver. Tom Cruise though.. isn't he a Brabus customer? :) ok, so Cruise beat her but she still beat the crap out of everyone else!
  4. wouldnt it be better if they swapped about a bit? like May (or even Clarkson?) driving the toerag (instead of it resembling when hammond drove a 4x4 against that thing that looked like a snowmobile that went across the water not so long ago) and hammond driving the bugatti and comparing it to the dragster for example :) (instead of it resembling when may drove the veyron last time as you say)..?
  5. Really don't see the point of the constructors championship when none of the drivers-championship-contending teams give 2 sh!ts about it. It's just a way of dividing up the dregs of the money for the bottom teams...
  6. Yeah, there must be a trick to it, mine was a pig to get out too so I know what you mean.. (wonder if I'm meant to know stuff like this now )
  7. Just to be clear though, those are the convex spoke style, like Corozin's, not the flat 5 spoke MOs we're taking about getting.
  8. had this in my favourites, i think it will give you what you're after: http://igorweb.org/equidec/
  9. when the noise from your BMC starts making the interior trim resonate ;) :D
  10. Thanks fella, where abouts in london are u based?? I'm near Oval in the centre of town. Dont mind a bit of a drive to a meet though!
  11. we like a happy new VR owner :D
  12. dont we need an "other" category for different engines? or are we just going on what they were?
  13. is this the pic you meant Kev? (you need to be signed in to view) http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... try2671881 they go together so well! this is the AP diagram if anyone wants it for reference: AP 330mm clearance diagram.pdf[/attachment:3vb52lfl]
  14. 1. Suspension needs replacing - low, poorly protected (possibly cheap?) coilovers are often an issue and generally you get what you pay for. Once you sort this out you wont have any other problems. 2. Engine is lumpy - cant help there but get as much advice as you can on here and you'll get there in the end, perhaps with help from well chosen garages. 3. The exhaust - again, like the suspension, you'll get there, but using 2nd-hand non-original parts will always throw up a few more issues. 4. Under-chassis - is the rust on the bodywork or the subframes? you say the exterior is mint. If its only the subframes then as you say these can be cleaned and painted, none will be in good nick after 15 years! 5. Brakes - poor fitting is easily sorted. ABS can be an issue but can also be got rid of if it comes to it, its not that good anyway! 6. Squealing from the engine - I'm sure you'll sort this along the way of looking into the running. I dont think you've bought a lemon, but it does sound like its been worked on by some monkeys and only maintained cosmetically and not mechanically. Its going to take a while to sort out, and more money than you'd intended when you bought it, but seeing as you're able to do stuff yourself it wont be nearly as bad as if you couldnt!
  15. think this is the grey finish they normally do (this is a 15" wheel btw - borrowed from VR6OC) 6484b2a8.jpg[/attachment:2n9q39th]
  16. are you checking out brake clearance on them Gareth? I cant really afford them but if they were safe for some future brakes I could go on as number 10 on the list.
  17. yes, i think so! might need a cushion to reach the pedals though ;)
  18. apparently Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are stars in the car on this Sundays show. Has she been on it before? Maybe its the tall skinny blonde comparison to Jodie Kidd but I can see her being pretty quick!

did you notice him do it at the time? even if not there'll be paint on the post surely? doesnt sound like something he can get out of easily..?
  20. 50mm isn't normally so bad but obviously softer springs equals more compression for the same forces so they might cause a bit of rubbing depending on the spec of your wheels. depending on your budget you could still tweak the height to address this though. depends what you're prepared to change and spend on changing it.
  21. spring rate is the main point of the threads, but damping is obviously important too - the threads are here fla's - viewtopic.php?f=23&t=72447&hilit=fla+koni#p841751 herisites discussions - viewtopic.php?f=23&t=39334&p=1095573&hilit=gaz#p1095573 viewtopic.php?f=11&t=46228&p=1095512&hilit=crashy#p1095512
  22. would help if we knew what supension it was on at the moment? and your wheels are 17s i guess but just checking they're not 18s as they look pretty big in the pictures! there've been quite a few threads talking about how to deal with crashy/hard suspension recently too (eg. fla, herisites, with comments from kevhaywire etc), what did you think about the issues discussed in those?

no, i agree. as long as you use enough water (boiling is even better) and then keep only wiping the stuff itself, not any paint around it, by the time you get to the bottom of the sh!te itself then more water will just wash the last of it off, no harm done.
  24. i'd like to go again but have been looking at half-days/evenings as I cant really afford to do full days. if it doesnt sell out though, maybe i'll ring them nearer the time and see if they'll do a part day.
