Relay 32

Thanks, but I'm going to try and hold out for the correct one. Don't want to bring any other issues in the mix apart from the ones I already have.
3. How much fuel you got in the tank, might be running on the dregs. Try filling up with some fresh fuel

Relay 32

Anyone got a spare relay No.32 on top. Part number 357 906 381 I want try and replace mine, as this relay gets quite warm in my car and I'm wondering if this causing my dashboard gauge issue. Where all the dash is going off when I'm driving the car sometimes.
6. Just to update, this leak was from the pump, most likely the pulley seal. Must have dried out, with the lack of use of the car.
7. I looked for the earlier type one but couldn't find one, some say the fit on the original one wasn't brilliant. So I made my own in plastic and covered in vinyl. It's a push fit, so completely reversible
8. So got the new pump back on with a new thermostat and housing. Also decided to replace the spring clamps with some shiny new jubilee clips I had in the garage. Which was my first mistake. I then placed a bowl with some kitchen towels underneath the pump before filling, to spot any leads. I then filled the system from the top hose, with some neat coolant and the same amount of distilled water through the expansion tank. Fitted everything back in, feeling pleased with my work. Mistake number 2 Filled the rest of the system with 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water. Also replaced the expansion tank, just to tidy the engine bay up a little. Started the car to bleed the system no leaks which is a good start., fans kicked. Switched off and had a tidy up. Went for a quick drive round the block and noticed the temp gauge was going past the normal 90 mark. Going to almost 100, which got me worried thinking there is air lock in the system. Parked back in the garage to let it cool down, and after it while it's dripping from the new jubilee clamp tried doing them up more, which stopped it for awhile. Tried bleeding the system again, with expansion cap off. Fans come on and there is no difference in the coolant level. Put some kitchen towel near the thermostat housing and called it day. This morning the kitchen towel is wet [emoji35], also had a think about why the temp gauge was going past the 90 mark, and could only think thermostat is stuck. So took the housing off and replaced the fin jubilee clamps for the old spring clamps. Also checked the both the old new thermostats in a saucepan over the cooker. And to my surprise, the new stat takes longer to open, and doesn't not open as wide as the old thermostat. So refitted the old one back in the car. Will take the new one back to the dealers. Refilled the coolant system again, but ran short of new coolant. Had to make a begging phone call to Wayne, who gave me his part bottle of new coolant. Thanks man for that [emoji106]🏼 Bit of pain fitting the thermostat from underneath, but did mange to get all back on. Temps have returned to 90, and so far no leaks. Will check again tonight once it's all cooled down. Left the bowl to spot any leaks. So a couple of tips. 1 Don't fit jubilee clips unless you are fitting new houses. Even then spring clamps are probably better. As the old rubber hoses have moulded with the clamps. 2. Check your thermostats, before fitting. Will save you a lot of hassle, and will give you peace that it's working.
9. Lovely work, hope you don't get the urge to sell it once it's all done. Like many builds go after so much work has gone into them.
10. Having my clutch changed on Saturday before, so if all goes well I will be there.
11. Another vote for Megs [emoji106]🏼 Best applying with a sponge, and wiping off with some kitchen towels before driving the car.
12. Isn't it always the case [emoji36] Bit of a tidy up, not as good as other members on here. But not confident enough to pull the whole engine out.
13. Have good trip and hope your ready for the following weekend [emoji6]
14. Anyone got any hints and tips on fitting the new pump, will be greatly appreciated
15. One job off the To-Do-List, and another 2 added.[emoji38][emoji38] But I do still love it, hell yeah!!! So had a small puddle on the garage floor red in colour., in front of the engine on the drivers side. Instinct went straight Into denial, thinking it was maybe just detailing spray. Even tough It smelt and tasted like coolant. [emoji38][emoji38] So cleaned the floor, and couldn't see any thing dripping, so thought maybe it was just one off. Took the car out for a little drive, trying to stay localish just incase anything it would start leaking all together. Which it didn't, but when I parked the car back in the garage and looked underneath. There it was little drips, running down the power steering pump. [emoji35][emoji35] So did some reading on the forum, and some research. And started hoping it was just the thermostat housing. Took the bracket off that's covering the power steering pump, and everything was dry. Feeling a bit fed up, locked up the garage and went back inside. Had a little think about it, and thought I'm going have to go all in, change the water pump. So this where I am at now.
16. I think the leak I think is coming from the pulley end, which I've read on here can happen if the car has not been used for awhile. Causing the seals to harden up which in turn starts to leak when you start using the car again. I've stripped it all down, and will get a new pump ordered this week to to replace it with and new thermostat at the same time. Is there anything I can do prevent the seals going, in the future. When the car is usually off the road during the winter months. Maybe a different coolant mix or something?
17. Well according to the dealers it's the 044 121 113. But VW heritage reckon it 056 121 113D. I've gone with what the dealers have said for now. The problem is now after taking the bits of to access the housing, I'm not convinced the leak is coming from there. As it's only dripping, when the engine is hot. And i can't see dried coolant on the housing or around the pump. Might have to wait for it to get more serious, or strip it down again when it's hot.
18. Got any details on the car lift your using, looks interesting.
19. I've got a very slight coolant leak, coming from near the PAS pump. I'm guessing and hopping its just the thermostat housing that's leaking as the pump itself looks quite new. So I'm getting my shopping list together but I'm not sure which is the correct thermostat for my car. According to the Parts Base catalogue I've got a choice of 2. 044121113 coolant regulator; 87C-102C 056121113D coolant regulator; 87C-102C According to VW Heritage 044121113 Is 87C 056121113D Is 71C So which one should I be ordering, as I just want the correct part that would have been fitted from the factory. Unless there is any benefit from fitting something else.
20. What about looking for some worn cloth seats, and swapping the bits from your leathers over.
21. Have a look through here. http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/Junior_Power_Timer_Connectors.html
22. Bit of an update, finally got my seat bolster repaired. Was sick of old foam crumbs on the carpet every time I was getting in and out. Before Placed masking tape down before removing the seat, so not to get grease on the carpet. Repaired seat fitted The base of the seat was very soft, looked cracked from underneath. So had that cut out and new foam added. Seat feels a lot more firmer now, like new.
23. The door seal ones look quite good, according to this forum. I need to do mine at some point, but not sure if I should go OE as they are available from VW heritage or sealsdirect and save half the cost.
24. What about trying that place that does the seals. http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk
25. I've got some screws for the seat handle, if you need them.
