  1. lennylogknob, Thinking about it, I hardly used that much, it was only to top up from Min to max and then I repeated this process again but it was half way to max so I should'nt have cause that much damage. The belt isnt slack, I am thinking maybe its too tight. Someone told me that they self adjust to the correct tension????? It doesnt squeel any other way except on left hand turns at very slow speeds. Its quite a high pitch noise and sounds like a power steering problem. I want to get it sorted as its bugs me, I hate little noises like that!
  2. bigbroony, Ha,ha,ha!! Yeah, you should have told me before!!
  3. G60Jet, mate, she alarm packed up and she informed GAP after the AA came out and said it was the alarm / immobilizer so she had to have it disconnected and then her car was nicked. Obviously after gap took 3 days to get to her because they were aparantley too busy! Then her car was nicked - bloody bad timing. I think paticulary Gap are bad fitters and cliffords are not as reliable as they should be. This case turned out to be a nicked MK2 Golf GTi that my girlfriend at the time loved. She would spend hours cleaning her wheels and cleaning the car which was great when I wanted to do bits to mine and it was found on its discs.
  4. lennylogknob, I use the red stuff, thats what the prick at halfords to me.... Could that have anything to do with the squeel I get when turning left slowly? A car mechanic came out with me one nite and said that the noise sounded like the power steering. Its a new pump from G and S so maybe I should return it and try another one as it could be faulty. My steering does feel very heavy but I wasnt sure if that was the 17'teens or the 320 mm steering wheel?
  5. I like the look of the C without th estrips, the car looks cleaner and sharper. Maybe some colours make the look not all that apealing but mine looks good and since it had the full re spray you cant tell they were ever there.
  6. dubster82, , sorry, all the credit goes to Joe M. He was the one who saved my patients and door. Miss read the post, thanks again mate. If you are going to the CCGB day there will be a cold pint of coke as we are all driving!
  7. I would say take out £10,000 as you only live once!! Buy a c and make it faster! Joke, all good things come to those who wait! Its not my motto, but never the less! im too impatient!
  8. I love the dials but I dont like the car mats with the red edging. I like the look of the mats to blend in with the carpet colour. I may just be too fussy. Those dials are expensive aren't they? If I was to do that mod, they would definitely be the ones I would want. Steering wheel is cool too. Goes with the dials.
  9. stormseeker, mate, I already tried a wrench with torque bits / extensions but luckily I saw the hadle move towards the door and thought that it was just to tight and my hands were hurting so I left in in a huff, SWEARING AT THE CAR, AND THE HANDLE THEN TO MY MISSES AS SHE SAID, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? Have you wrecked it!! I could have slaped her. Thanks guys, why did they make that threat reverse thread? Just out of intrest. Oh yeah, this will make you laugh even more, I am know for breaking things by over tightening them. All my friends are engineers that I hand around with after work, well most of them and when im doing something to my car under their supervision they always say, carefull you dont over tighten that then all you hear is a snap! I asked him to give me a job the other day, he installs air con and fridges / freezers into vans and he said no way! I know what your like at tightening things up. I can promise you im getting better. Its just my way of thinking that its safe and wont fly off but thats why they invented torque wrenches. Even the large torque wrench for the wheels, I always have to click it 3 or more time untill my mate comes over and grabs the wrench out of my hand and hits me with it. Ok, I will shut up now!
  10. Todd alarms are good, I havent heard of problems with them yet. Ok, I will put you off cliffords now. My friends escort cozzie, magazine featured the works, his alram unit caught fire and melted all his electrics!! Nice alarm. Ok, that is an exception, but my x girlfriend had her alarm fitted by GAP Security, concept 300 with lights on feature and she asked for it to be wired up to her central locking as she wanted them to fit the central locking system to covert it from a non central locking to remote central locking. The charged her for the bits and came and fitted her alarm and it was fine but never fitted the central locking pumps. Then she called them as said the alarm was playing up, her alarm would go off for no reason at 3 in the morning and wake her neighbours up - she lived in a posh area - then her car wouldnt start and the AA came out to her 3 times all to say to her was it was the alarm immobilizer playing up and she was stuck and had to leave her car in the car park as gap would come down till the next day. Her car was stolen that night and found not far without her rims that I bought her for her birthday that were a few days old and the silly women left the locking wheel nutkey in the car after I told her to keep it in her handbag or somewhere safe. So Clifford dont do it for me. Gap was a waist of time and we had the alarm taken out, claimed the insurance and was scared ever since. Her car was found on its discs and trying to jack it up was task in itself. The car would just swing round and trying to not damage anything further was just a nighmare. I bought her a nother set of second hand wheels the same as her old ones and she never put them back on incase her car was broken into again. It was a mk2 Golf, nice, silver, I lowered it for her 40 mm and she loved it as I had a golf too at the time. Sorry about the long e mail on this subject but I would recommend having a look around and investigating just what is on the market. Last point, if you add intelly start to your alarm it doesnt become cat 1, so adding these options gives you fancy options but why do you think they reduce the catagory with these on? Reliability is the answer!
  11. I rarely leave my C in a car park, otherwise I would send them a bill from a body shop for sorting the dent out if the give you a parking ticket for being in 2 spaces. I like the sound of the car park you use Andi, it should hopefully filter doen this way!
  12. Ok, I am goint to deal with this one first¬ This is something I do know about!! Its not advisable to go for a spring lower than30 /40mm, on standard shocks. Reason being is that you use more of the spring rather than the shock, so the ride becomes very hard and wont give when taking corners at speed when roads in this country are so crap it would just bounce and skip and reck your shocks. It is better that you go for a lowered shock and lowered sring to balance the suspension as balance is all about having a good ride and being able to take corners at speeds and challenge our driving skills. So if you dont want to spend loads of money on coilovers then buy a sports kit. I.e. lowered shock and spring around 40 /60 mm plus. The fact that these are only a few hundred less mean having an adjustable kit to give you more control with the set up. you can buy a sports kit that is just dampening adjustable still for a lot less than a good coilover kit, but you are on this forum as your a keen driver and lover of the Cso you may aswell justify the extra money and slamm your C or have it to a perfect looking ride heigh. That IMO is the arch gap looking non exsistant but not to low that its breaks your oil sump so when you have the image of the lowered car it looks drivable and more apealing to an enthuasiast. When ever you go to these shows, most of the times the cars are wound down for the look. The only problem is that if you regulary change the height then you need the allignement done. I am just about to fit my coil overs next week and im going to have a nice low ride but drivable as having to crawl over bumps at .2 mph is no fun and you can look a bit silly when you have a mother in her volvo up your ass untill your over the bump that is!
  13. Supercharged, You have just saved my door, my patients and my screwdrivers. I owe you guys a thankyou. I forgot when I took it off before that it was a reverse thread! Wicked.
  14. The beeps after arming your car is tolet you know something isnt shut, could just be the sensor needs screwing up a few threads to make the contact engage. I would say that clifford alarms are like Yoko tyres, over rated. They are good, like yoko tyres but there are better products on the market in my opinion. I have loads of mates that have had nothing but problesm, reliability is a problem with cliffords from past experiences. I friend had a evo 6 with the clifford concept 600 or something with intelly start, turbo timer and it only started up on the button command 6 times out of 10.
  15. Just park inbetween 2 spaces and annoy everyone but it saves your doors from being chipped / dented .
  16. corozin, Hi, yeah, strange we havent seen each other. More importantly, do you want to convoy up with us to the CCGB day? So far I know of 3 cars that are going and I posted something on people from Bournemouth to get intouch for events like this as well as a night on the town. How old are you? If my car is lowered by wed, then I will come. I hate seeing it that high. Its in the body shop till monday now! Mine is burgandy with polished 17" Kahns rims with the reiger de badged grill. There are 2 c's in town, one that used to look like my Corrado before I changed it, then someone else has the exact same grill, colour, everytjhing except the wheels.
  17. Bluxie, Mate, that is exactly my problem, the passat handles dont fit the Passat mechs, the only combination I havent tried is passat handles with Corrado mechs but I was assured that in order to do this mod without having to modfy the stricking pin etc would go straight on - no problem. Now, I have a broken passat handle which is on the passenger side of my car, the C one was already broken and I cant take out the screw on the drivers door as its too bloody tight. I have tried bruit force, so I need a power drill to unscrew it. My mate has a snap on one that does wheel nuts up, it does silly torque so that should shock it off in a second. I will try the last combination, but I bet it doesnt work. At the moment, I have one delocked passenger handle that doesnt work and a c handle on the drivers door that works but I cant take the bleeding thing off! I hope that doesnt bust up on me otherwise I will have to get into my C via the boot!! Classy move rams!

Actually, the Avo coilovers use different springs on the VR6 than they do on the GT1 ETC. As I bought my old Golf Mk2 back, it has Avo coilovers and I called Chassis dynamics and said can I fit the shocks straigh on? They said they are the exact same part number, the rears go on but the fronts need different springs to compensate for the heavier engine. Ordered them up for £55. They are going on once they come back from being checked / reconned.
  19. dubster82, Thats what I meant, get it converted to K star.
  20. Like a fine wine, these babies get better with age...... well after all the mods and things we have replaced anywayby that time. Im sure every part will get replaced by the time im finished with her. Mines on 98 and enjoyed every mile of it! Except the mileage back to the body shop when it was on the back of a GRS low loader
  21. If you want to get real power out of your C then I wouldnt recommend starting with a 16V engine. If you are looking for subtle increases then stuff like cold air feed to your induction kit or air box is a start. Then I would look at getting the head ported and flowed and perhaps bigger injectors and a boost valve. You can get it chipped It all depend how far you want to go. Its all well doing certain mods but you need to balance the mods with what its connect to or with so then having to uprate the next part is an on going thing. You need reliability and sensible fule econmy so just think, if you spend all that money you wont get it back when you sell her so keep that in mind and within what you want the car to be like and perform. I am at the stage just so it gives you an example, I could get the VR supercharged or get a nice turbo but it will cost nearly as much as buying a G60 or another vr. It can get very addictive to moding your car, dont forget, things are know yto go wrong with C's so you need spare cash so your not imobile. I would say, drive your car around a bit longer, yeah, get the exhaust done and make sure its all in perfect working order and learn as much as possible from the forum so the mods you do are good mods from peoples errors and recommendations. i would get the car lowered first so you can throw the car around and enjoy the snug feeling with the road. Tyres and suspension are so important, get your base set first then build on it! Anyone else agree with my short essay?
  22. morpheus20170, Mate, this is very simple to do. Open the door and you will see the lock mech on the door and what that clips into when you shut the door. The part of the body of the car that has the small plastic part around to make the door less noisey is the bit that you need to move. Undo the nut on the end of this part till it becomes loose. There is a fair bit of movement and with in time the nuts loosens and pushes forward so all you have to do is move the position of this part closer inand tighten it back up. It may take you a few attempts to get it spot on but you will do it. Then when the door shuts it will have to travel further in and then once the lock has grabed it you wont notice the door sticking out. Once you are in the car and look at your side mirrors you will see that its straight. If you do that and you find you really need to slam the door then you have gone a bit to far so try and get it right. If that doesnt make the lines perfect then you need to adjust the door from the hinges. It will take you 5 secs to do and you will be surprized the difference it makes when it all looks smooth. They do polished versions of these pins with new plastic bits as I bet the ones on your car look like they have seen better days. They cost £20, they are in the PVW mag. I need to order a set!
  23. kevhaywire, What is wrong with slick 50? I have never used it in the C but used it in other cars?
  24. yeah, that would look sweet, a nice small sticky badge to put on your calipers.mmmm, I will do some investigating.
  25. The C looks best when its clean so does anyone know if there are places to wash the beast for when we park up at the CCGB? Any petrol stations near by with a jet wash? If the weather is good then a good clean before I leave in the morning may suffice!
