Thanks mate, it’s about time I started fitting parts instead of just buying them :)
-
I finally found some time to clear out my garage and the red VR6 at last came down off its axle stands and made it into the dry(and warm):) As I’m going to be doing the OBD2 swap, I’ll be removing the engine, which will allow me to get the wavetrac diff fitted into the gearbox. Plus I might as well do the chains/tensioners and any other associated bits while it’s out, including the 268 cams and the Schrick

Yes mate, PM inbound:)

Super cool VW Christmas must have from Classic parts

Will the parking signs be back in stock before Christmas Anna? :) -
Agree with the guys above. Mechanicals can be fixed relatively easily. Rust is the big issue, check the rear arches, especially the drivers side, and pay close attention to the fuel cap area, dirt/moisture can accumulate up there causing rust all the way down to the arch and possibly up to the suspension turret. Also check the rear panel where the badges sit, the small blue grommets can break/fall out allowing moisture in.

I bought this the other day, so I’ll definitely be doing the OBD2 swap then :)

Welcome along, magic car you have there 8)

For that money I’d want them to do away with coolant:lol:

I can’t work out how to link you to it, but if you look at page 38 on my members thread, you’ll see them there, with the part number. I bought them not that long ago. There is also a comparison picture with an original

I love this car, in fact, when I tell someone I have a few Corrado’s, and they ask what it looks like. I show them a picture of yours, then say I’ve got a red one too that may one day look half as good as this!
-
How much were they mate? Is it €139 for the pair? Is that including delivery? Sorry for the questions but I’m on my phone and my German is non existent:lol:
-
I’d like it but too far to collect. If I was to bid would you remove it from the frame and just send it to me mounted? I’d be reframing it anyway
-
Ha ha, I forgot about those bits, and yes, it could live with me for a while
-
I’d put it back together, fire it up and give it a light water misting, in the dark you’ll soon see if it’s shorting, probably will hear it as well

I had 2 misfires I can remember. First was when I went through a big puddle, the coil pack was sparking like a firework, no drama up to that point but as soon as it got wet it was comedy. 2nd one was intermittent, turned out the rear centre lead wasn’t seated correctly on the plug

I guess I should put a wee update on. Having had zero time in the last months for Corrado tinkering, an opportunity came up for me to get involved with Goldie’s latest purchase. He knows I’m a sucker for these cars and with the goodies this one had I couldn’t refuse :) It was bought as a breaker as it had had an internal fire which was behind the dashboard. After it arrived I hated the thought of killing it as it looked so good, plus I already have a parts car with the dashboard and loom intact. Sadly that thought died when we got to the rear end as it’s rotten, massive rust issues which you can literally put your hand through. So unless I have a mad turn it’ll never see the road again. The list of parts I acquired was definitely worth it. I doubt I’ll sell any but you never know.......one day maybe:lol: Full front lights Updated shrick 268 cams Wavetrec LSD in the gearbox Full stainless exhaust with tubular manifold and decat Samco silicone hoses Magnecor ht leads Lightened crank pulley Full set of badges Lupo GTi wipers Working sunroof Plus I still have the car, so seats, wings, bumpers, windows and much more. All stuff I’d have probably tried to buy.

I bought 3 sets last year. 1st was a second hand set I got for £170, which included the sender. Second set was brand new in the box with the new sender , cost was(including a couple of bartered items) £420-£450, strong money but it was local and I just couldn’t say no  3rd set was rough, all the graphics had curled up and broken away, they cost me £20, which was a total steal as I was able to swap the internals of a lhd set I had bought years ago. And no, none are for sale :)
