Welcome to the forum. Believe what they say about them getting under your skin, I've had a C 12 years and it still makes me smile.......................................normally

You mean yu're going to pull it to bits already??? No!!!! I saw an alfa 3.0 litre V6 (same as mine but not bored as much) for 150 quid!!! :) And in theory i've still got most of a corrado shell. Been thinking about doing welding evening classes too :)[/quote:d142a] Of course if you want to stay purist there's Passats and Audis use a transaxle front end too, how about a V6 tdi diesel dog torque monster, not quite a howling petrol engine but might work? Don't know why I'm pursuing this, there'd be nowhere to keep the kids!

That sounds like an interesting project to me, my next contract looks like it could be a little more sensible than this one and I'd probably be spending two weeks in four at home so was fancying transplanting a complete R32 into a Corrado in my spare time, maybe a mid engined one would be a more unique challenge??? There's a few Renaults would be obvious donors as they have the transaxle already for you and if you can get a 3 litre V6 in the back of Clio I'm sure it'd squeeze into a Rado. Even some Ferraris might be on the shopping list  Spring and damper rates would take some figuring out, and probably some a bit of trial and error but the donor car setup is always a good place to start, car companies have the right size development budget to do your research for you after all :)

Have I missed some New Rules on Motorway Driving?

They're too busy reloading film in speed cameras and watching tv screens of cctv cameras to do any real policing? -
Have I missed some New Rules on Motorway Driving?
tonedef replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
Before this job in Saudi I did 6 months commuting from Chesterfield to Kent each week in the S3. I have no time whatsoever for people who believe they receive a permit to sit in whatever lane they choose along with the keys to their company BMW, Vectra, Laguna etc. If they don't move out of my way I will pass in whichever lane I choose also. There may be a law says I cannot pass on the inside, but the law also says you move left after overtaking, there was even a news story a few months ago that UK police were to start enforcing that law although I have seen little evidence to back it up. Too many people think of the outside lane as the "fast" lane, sorry they're all "fast" lanes, they all have the same limit but some are there for overtaking the others. Rant over, I'm in Saudi, you can pass anywhere here, even use the wide sand lane off the hard shoulder if you fancy a bit of real excitement  -
I cheated and put mine on the flat patch when I used to work for Ralliart, did the corner weights at the same time so I know the coilovers are all set right too. Bit over the top for a road car but if there's a motorsport place near you they'll do the best alignment you'll ever have.

So how old do you have to be to look a 'little silly'....
tonedef replied to Leonard's topic in General Car Chat
Well I certainly have no plans to get a sensible grown up car, ever, and I'm now 43. Had Corrados since 95 so why stop now? It's our family car since we sold the S3 and I can't imagine that either of my kids can remember ever not having one (and my oldest is learning to drive herself now, wanted a valver until she realised how much the insurance would cost!). Never understood the need to buy a four door bland mobile (or even worse one of those disgusting mini buses called MPVs) just because you're no longer in your twenties or have a kid on the way? -
Where can I get a t-piece to fit vacuum hoses?
tonedef replied to diggerbucket's topic in Suppliers Forum
You'll get them in Halfrauds if nowhere else, they have them with screen washer fittings in the Chesterfield one. And of course they're open tomorrow if you need it in a hurry  -
Thought you said in your first post that the steering was dodgy, don't see that being just down to a split boot. I'd have a good look at it to be sure.
-
The steering rack separates from the column to allow removal. I didn't fit my last one as I was out of the country at the time but I believe that maybe the sub frame has to be lowered. Sure someone else will be able to confirm this.

Loving then way you're using your words! Welcome to the forum an keep up the good work, it will all be worth it in the end. 8)

Looks more like a steering rack gaiter to me. You might be lucky but if it's taken grit in there with it then most likely the racks going to be goosed. Had the same on mine a few years ago and put a new rack in, it's leaking again now so guess I'm ready for another, joy of joys!

Oooo errrr

Ghetto mod to streamline airflow to intercooler on my C.
tonedef replied to corradog60stage4's topic in Engine Bay
Mitsi Evos have something that looks almost exactly the same at that for venting the oil cooler, sits on the other side of the car though. IF you could get hold of an arch liner you might be able to rig something up but IIRC the Evo one is made of a lot thinner material so plastic welding might be tricky. -
If he's got no interest in cars why would he want to be buying himself a C? You never know you might just be starting off a new enthusiast there. What you planning to buy if you sell it?

18 months ago I bought a stunning looking S3 to replace my Corrado with. The Corrado was parked up for about 6 months looking all sad for itself until I got the urge to do a few jobs on it, probably around the time I found the forum I guess. Since then I've spent a small fortune on it and got myself the bug again pretty much like I did in 1995 when I bought my first Corrado 16V. And now the S3's gone as did the Golf GTI before it, the Corrado however is here to stay. I think you forget quite how special they are until you spot one driving towards you (not that it happens all that often  ) then you come over all warm and think "I've got one of those!", you forgive it everything again and start planning your next mod.

There's a couple of bleed nipples on the ABS pump and then the one I normally find makes the difference is the one on the end of the master cylinder.

When I worked for a rally team we often used to use up any left over Shell Turbo Rally (it's really serious gear and cost £4.10 per litre at the time) in our cars. I had a 16v MkIII Golf and it used to run great on it so 97ron out of the pump would be no reason for your valver to run badly.

Loving it, just wondering who looks on You Tube for instructions on setting up their timing???

Ha bl@@dy ha!

Same here, Classic Car is not widely available in Saudi :(

^^^^^^^ Then I got thinking about it a bit more and remembered I had the Diavia wiring diags on my computer. (I'm sat in a hotel room in Saudi without much to do!). If you don't have the wiring diagram it's attached here, the compressor clutch and fan start signals are both wired through relay 017019 so if there's something messed up in the wiring there it might be causing the problem?
