Apologies mate, I had intended to mention your input but suffered an all to common senior moment!

Both door mirror glasses on my VR6 were starting to show their age so I looked about for replacements. £72 a side from Classic Parts was out of the question and ARZ tuning prices were almost as bad so I decided to try the mirrors advertised on e-bay (link below) at £8.99 a side. Delivery was a very impressive next day job and everything looked good. The glass comes with the heating element already installed and the connections are idential to the original VW part. The rear of the heating element then has a super sticky layer of adhesive with a peel off cover. Also included are a pair of plastic backing plates which clip into place on the mirror motor. Fitting was simplcity itself. There are two points worth noting. When unpacked, the two spade connectors on the rear of he mirror lie flat against the glass and will need to be bent up a right angles to ease fitment of the wiring and you will need to trim about 5mm off one side of the backing plate to allow the mirror to centralise in the mirror housing as the connectors will foul the backing plate if it is not trimmed slightly. Once you have done these two slight mods you simply clip the backing plate onto the motor, connect the wiring, remove the protective sheet from the adhesive, centralise the mirror and press it into place. Job done, it should not take you more than 15 minutes per side. After I completed the fitting I could not resist trying to remove the plastic backing plate from the original mirrors and with a bit of patience I got them both off without damage. They are simply stuck on the same as the e-bay version. Now, if you are really anal, the new mirror could be used with the original backing plate for an OEM result. The photos below show the mirrors installed and also the rear of the original mirror with the plastic backing plate removed. It can be carefully prised away from the mirror with a fine flat blade screwdriver as it is simply stuck on. If you were to go down this route you wuld need to drill two holes in the backing plate to correspond with the connectors on the new mirror as they are not in exactly the same place as on the original mirror. At £21 posted I'm well pleased and you really have to wonder where VW get their prices. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-88-95-CONVEX-HEATED-MIRROR-GLASS-BP-/330909704622?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item4d0bc161ae

The perfect answer to faded black hard plastic is to paint it. Remove it if you can, clean any old dressing off with thinners on a rag, plastic prime it, give it a coat of black base coat and satin lacquer it. I've done the grill, the three scuttle trims and door handles and the results are superb. Obviously it helps if you have access to a compressor and can spray but if you are going for a re-spray or if you know someone who paints then it is well worth the extra effort.

I have now found the full set of low head bolts (M14x1.5) which are used to mount the adapters to the hubs. Price remains the same at £50 delivered.

Here we have a set of FK 25mm 5x100 VW to 5x130 Porsche adapters. In very good condition with no thread damage. No bolts, but these are readily available on e-bay. Just do a search for Short Head Wheel Lug Bolts. Asking price for the adapters is £50 inc postage. The adapters are in Bangor, N. Ireland. Contact me by PM, on 02891462425 or at [email protected]

Do a search for Glass Scratch Removal kits on e-bay. They are widely available and all claim to be DIY friendly. I think if you can feel the scratch with a finger nail it's too far gone but if not I'd give it a go as the kits are not expensive.

Sorry mate, long gone on a local forum.

I was just about to post a new set that I've just finished when I saw this ad. I'll give you a free run for a few weeks and see the level of interest. Still looking well, you've looked after them. Good luck with the sale.

Pretty sure the grooved discs have been added at some stage by a previous owner. I've had four Corrados and they all had standard discs all round.
-
The one in mine is 480x95x30mm ,orange in colour and has Votex embossed on the box. I'm assuming it's the original one.

Many thanks guys. Very helpful link ............ I think I can live with it as is.
-
You'll get them in German and Swedish or Euro Car Parts without any problem.

On my previous Corrado the rear spoiler came up at 45mph but on my current one it comes up at 55mph. What actually activates the spolier and is it something which can be adjusted?

You can't flat and polish satin paint or you'll finish up with shiney areas. With satin paint, the finish out of the gun is pretty much what you're left with.

How old are you, and how long have you had your Corrado/Corrado's?

65, but I came to them late. I've have had two G60s and two VRs in the last 7 years, currently in a 92k Ice Grey Violet VR. -
Here we have a set of Diamond Audio M56.1x crossovers and the surface mount tweeters from the same set (no woofers unfortunately) These are high end units and the crossovers could be used with any tweeters and woofers. They have input, output for tweeters and woofers and also an additional output for rear fill speakers. Asking price is a mere £30 posted for the lot. Collection from Bangor, NI is welcome.

Here we have a set of Audioscape door pods for the Corrado. They are for the early models with the window switches on the door cards but they could easily adapted to fit a later model by cutting out holes for the switches on the pods themselves. Overall condition is very good with the exception of a slight nick in the vinyl on the leading upper edge of the passenger pod which I have tried to photograph. As you know, these are no longer available. Asking price is £140 which includes Parcelforce 48 hour delivery. They are in Bangor, N.Ireland ............... collection welcome. SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD

As for getting the signal to the amps, you could use RCA splitter or Y leads. These, as the name suggest are like the letter Y. There will be a single plug at one end and two plugs at the other end. Obviously you will need two sets, one for the right channel and one for the left channel. They come as one male to two females or one female to two males. Plug a two sets into the RCA from the head unit and then plug another two sets into one of the two outlets thus giving you three outlets all with the same signal. You will be able to buy any configuration or length of RCA lead you need to link all three amps. If you have two pre-outs on the rear of the head unit, you will only need one set to split one RCA. If the head unit has front, rear and sub pre-outs, then simply plug one set of RCAs into each amp and use the amps accordingly. Don't take this the wrong way, but years of experience fitting car stereo would suggest to me that to build a top quality system all you need is a quality set of 6.5 inch components in the front, standard speakers in the rear for rear fill and one top quality sub in the boot. Run the front end and the sub from a quality four channel amp or a two channel amp and sub amp, high pass signal to the components and a low pass signal to the sub and run the rear fill from the headunit. Total simplicity and properly set up it will sound amazing.

Type the details of your present rims and the details of the Porsche twists into the calculator at the link below. I could be wrong but I think the standard Speedlines are 6.5 wide with an et of 43. I also am open to correction but I think the Porsche twists are et 50. Obviously the calculator does not take the width of adapters into consideration so remember to add that into the result. Good luck mate. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Clips ordered from the dealer@ 67p each and inserts from Classic Parts @27p each ........... to-day was a 'good Corrado' day. I only had the passenger side trim off and there were three missing there so I reckon 10 is probably correct, I ordered 10 anyhow. Many thanks again to anyone who replied.
