Car Buying Dilema- Newish Skoda or Oldish Audi??
coullstar replied to MikeVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Octavia VRS an option? Massive boot and loads of room. -
You still in Edinburgh? Who did the work?
-
130i I found great to drive. Very progressive in both steering and power delivery. Its like a min M3 I would say. Slighly harsh ride but no worse that most cars these days. I never drove mine without runflats either.
-
8-9k, get a 130i Beemer and keep your Corrado as well. Great fun cars.
-
You know what, that is now my perfect car. I wouldnt bother with the RS, the Nothelles are amazing.
-
Aye Rota's are better IMO.
-
Ive said it all along but if they did a 4wd, 5cyl version I would look into buying one i.e. VW's version of the TTRS.
-
Its funny how the B5's get under your skin. They are such a great all round car. Running costs Ive found are very reasonable, yes things can go wrong but they are relatively easy to fix if they do.
-
Did you make much from braking the Mk4. Ive got mine up for sale with no interest and thinking of just braking it as I should get about £1k more doing that from my calcs.
-
Loving the wheels.
-
Howdoo, spoke to you at Knockhill last year. There will be a few folks interested in this I reckon.

You will be on the limiter well before halfway down I would have thought. My od one used to go off the clock in a short space of road but it did have the 3.68FD. Im amazed at how composed the Corrado is at these speeds. -
Golf V6 4motion + extras + excellent history We are selling the car to get something with 5dr and hopefully bigger boot. This is a very nice example of a 4motion. Much of the credit goes to the last owner who had the car for a long time. The car has many ugrades over standard spec primarily the full heated leather Recaros, H&R ARB's, R32 front wishbone set up, Koni suspension and subtle styling. Private plate will also stay with the car. I recently replaced all the brakes discs/pads and have new all front wishbones bushes renewed with R32 items. It is also getting a brand new windscreen this week. Im getting about 28mpg average on a 20mile daily commute on A/B roads, had it down to Glasgow the other week where it was giving 34mpg over full journey of a few hundred miles. Wheel wise its sitting on 17in BBS RC's right now but Id like to keep them so it can come with 16in Montreal II with winters fitted or if I find some decent TT Comps I will swap tyre over to these. Please note that unfortunatley the car will be available after 13th June unless a suitable part ex deal can be done between then and now. It can be viewed no problem in the meantime. Part ex we would take is something VAG with 5dr, as much if not more space than a Mk4 golf and reasonable on fuel. I would have around 1500 to possibly 2000 to add on top. As said car is based in Kintore, just outside Aberdeen. Full service history - VW then VW specialist then from 2011 self oil changes (receipts to prove genuine parts ect) Haldex regularly done by garage (receipts ect) (can also come with tools to service haldex). Gearbox oil changed at around 50K Climate control just serviced in aug 12 Cruise control Body work; Black magic pearl metallic paint. A few stone chips ect and a bit of the usual mk4 boot handle blemish but good condition for year. Little bit of rust on tailgate lip under hatch blend and small bit approx 5mm across on passengers wing at bottom. Otherwise good. Later aero wipers front and Mk5 golf rear wiper arms Front and rear valance colour coded Pentagon Light smoke tinted windows all round Genuine VW rear spoiler, and 5door R32 skirts. Caractere rear hatch blend. Hella fog light kit in lower bumper. (plug and play wired to original loom and light switch so the fogs in the headlights also come on. ie 4 fog lamps!) Black VW emblems front and rear, currently running chrome front. Stubby Ariel Brakes; Std 312mm. Disks and pads fitted less than 1K miles ago. Braided brake hoses replace rubber hoses apart front front where new rubber hoses were fitted about 5kmiles ago. New genuine vw metal pipes front to rear 2012. (receipts) Suspension; Koni adjustable shocks, Eibach lowering springs approx 20-25mm. H&R Anti roll bars. Audi S3 upper & lower strut braces. Forge Adjustable Rear tie bars to correct suspension geometry after lowering. Polyurethane bushes rear end. Running gear; R32 front hubs, driveshafts, new R32 tierods and ends, R32 wishbones (new bushes). (upgraded geometry compared to normal golfs less understeer) B&M Short shift gear lever kit. Engine; K&N panel air filter. Milltek race cat converter (fully legal) Waterpump, thermostat housing temp sender, coolant changed last year. Interior; Black leather heated recaros Genuine (new when fitted) R32 steering wheel W8 interior light, pre wired this at same time for bora illuminated vents so all plugs for them are there waiting for plug n play. Beetle sport aluminium interior door lock buttons ICE/Audio Becker high speed traffic pro head unit. (sat nav disk for uk scratched but should be obtainable) Head unit and matches the blue dash ect. Front Focal component speakers. Toad Ai606 Cat1 alarm immobiliser and standard VW alarm immobiliser fitted. VW roof bars will come with it, I protected the roof with 3m clear tape where they sit so there will be no marks. Just to keep thread going. MOT passed after changing top mount bearings. No advisories which is good. Going to replace all front to rear brakes lines as they were showing signs of corrosion. Taxed for another 6 months and in the process of putting standard exhaust on. Selling the Golf 4motion soo so will nick the RC back from that and probably put them on this. -

Okay not sure where that came from, I honestly cant remember seeing stuff about thier wheels cracking. TH2 bent hitting a very big pothole at speed. Was only very slightly but it induced a wobble. There was a set of Speedlines in 17in that have been up for sale for a very long time on ebay, I think they sold last week though.
