If you had it on the car then surely the hanger piece must be there, otherwise it wouldnt have fitted correctly.

So are the RC's and MO's staying as well? Seeling those pics I might put the RC's back on mine.

Ive done 3 cars with Ezibleed and all have been fine. I always keep the pressure lowish i.e. less than 10psi for the reason above. Remember a lot of these reserviors will be old. Take your time, they always feel a bit crap to start with but then after a few days they do tend to settle, most people seem to **** themselves that they feel rubbish straight away but give it time and then bleed again.
-
Drive it for a few days then bleed again.

Mmm, must be a different Ali. Ali Mowatt was racing last year in his Mk1 Berg kitted Golf. Running a 1.8T, he wouldnt break that car as he put so much work into it.
-
Hell yeah!
-
I kind of know Ali through a local VW site. Didnt realise he had given up on his Mk1, that was mint.
-
So you bought this from Gingernuts? Nice car, need to get down sometime to watch. Is Ali racing his Mk1 Golf again?

Gents, do you mean the bolts circled in yellow to remove/loosen? The upper guide then just slips off its locating pin?

Welcome, Aqua is one of my favourite colours. The VR6 is a noisey ticky tappety engine when compared to others.

Well, finally got myself a house with a man cave so might start doing things on the Corrado. Probaby just preventative maintainence, bodywork stuff. Redborbet are you still interested in the exhaust? Im sorry I havent gotten round to it but Im very busy right now and dont really have much spare time. -
Look at it this way, would you be happy in a car that you dont feel is in good condition? As said they might even just give you a form that you sign to say your car is in a suitable condition therefore if something happens they have evidence that you deemed your car in a suitable condition. Concetrate on ensuring your car is well maintained mechanically.

Ive done a few over the years. Most places are just book a place then turn up, show your license then off you go. No timings involved as then technically it would be a competition which then brings in all other liabilites. There good fun, main thing is to make sure of on your car is good cooling, good tyres and most of all good brakes. The brakes are the first things that go off. Usually need a helmet or you can rent one. Take a few tools if you have them and some spare oil/water.

Pro-active engine refurbishment/rebuild - costs at a garage?

Try looking for a good 2nd hand block or rebore 2.8 then get it all built up and swap it over. TBH unless it is blowing smoke or showing some dodgy readings on compression test Id just get the head put in and forget about it. If the bottom end starts going you can easily whip the head off and then get it done. Its not that bad a job putting a head on. To me a full rebuild is spending money that there is good possibility may never be required to be spent. -

I still cant see it happening. Its not an iconic car to the masses or even to most petrolheads. Yes they recognise it and like it but its doesnt have the motorsport pedigree that most of the desirable cars from that age do. Look at the TopGear thing a good few years back and then the couple of 5th gear programmes. Didnt change a thing from what I saw. If your waiting for a goldmine you'll be waiting for a while IMO. -

Yeah the sound is okay, it's just I'm getting old. It's a 2 box system that I've added another centre box to. I would probably sell it on, wouldn't be looking for much. Will let you know. -

Wee update as I decided to get this out after sitting for a month or so. Compomotives were sold. Bought some nice 16in TT wheels as I was needing tyres for the Speedlines and these wheels had excellent tyres. Track day plan is out the window as Im far to busy to even think about them this year plus there is a bambino on the way which is slightly more important. I think Im going to replace the Techtonics exhaust with the OE exhaust as the car could soon be back on semi-daily duties and I want it as civilised as possible. Maye even go back to standard suspension! Using it all this week to see how I get on. Bodywork is getting a little tired but Im not spending money on that now so will just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesnt get any worse. -
Ron's Blackberry VR6 - A11 VRX - Getting her back on the road

Lol, this thread is what was going through my mind when I sold my VRT. The car was amazingly capable and fast but you thought "whats going to go bang next". Saying that my car war very reliable but again with the chassis and FWD there was always this doubt that the car was not designed to do this. Thats the main reason I sold. I did miss the power kick so started looking for something that was designed to go that fast and put the power down, hence why I went for the RS4. I do also agree that a near standard car can be as much fun now. I dont regret owning the car and wouldnt put anyone of getting there car turbo'd but Ive pretty much come to the conclusion Im keeping my car relatively standard as well now. -
Lol, yeah I needed that as well.

Emissions pass okay?

Unless you have a real emotional attachment to the VR sell and get the Merc. For all the Corrado's are worth you can should be able to pick up another decent one in the future if you wish. In fact Im thinking the same right now as well as to be honest mine just sits and does jack right now so Id rather someone made use of it, plus the extra space would be nice.
