  1. Have you witnessed an F1 car going round a corner in person? Its simply amazing what they can do. I dont mind it but agree its not the most exciting to watch especially on TV. I went to the Hungarian Grand Prix this year, my first for almost 15years and its was a great day. I think that Audi/Vag need something new to do as they have done everything else. I believe it will be under the Audi brand though and not VW due to the AutoUnion name. I dont know how far it goes back but remember the money allocation is influenced by historic wins for a team registered name. Oh and I loved the sound they made, its much better in person.
  2. You need different drive shafts as well IIRC. Good for big turbo power.
  3. Current one around £3k all in over 3 years. I had loads of spares from previous cars so only really serviced and replaced broken bits. The Audi on the other hand....I have kept a spreadsheet and its nuts. Only 4k in service items inc suspension in the 2.5 years though.
  4. Get one with a soft lining, put a large container of rice in (change regularly) or those little silicon bags inside. Also get one that can be tied to the car or is tight at the bottom as the wind gets under the and blows them off the car.
  5. E46 is a nice car, I suppose there at the age and price now that you need to watch as they will have fallen into some hands that will neglect them. Regards the Corrado how much do you think you will use it? I contemplate every other day selling mine as it just sits about and I hate things not being used.
  6. Lol yeah they parts are heavy old beasts. I couldnt believe how much a door was either until I tried to pick one up. GRP bonnet, doors and tailgate are they way to go. Annoying thing as you will know is suspension will need dialled in again after that weight removal.
  7. Ive heard a few vids of that Aston from the other weekend. Utterly Epic.
  8. Impressive figures there. Yeah Mk5's are more about the looks for most at the moment. ED35 was the Mk6.
  9. Slightly sad by this as I do tend to keep them, I think for my Audi I have everyone from new.
  10. Put clingfilm over it. Best thing about thes gels and soaking treatments is your getting the corrosion out of the pitting, using a wirewheel is not really doing that. Im pretty sure these all use the same base chemicals and you will pay a lot more for branded stuff but it works, thats the main thing.
  11. Used there de-ox gel for a few years, its ace.
  12. Lol yeah S/RS tuning is not cheap as you know. £1500 on a B5 will yeild same actual numbers, 500bhp and over and your limiting the standard turbo's. As you also know its area under graph that tells the story would be interesting to compare. In fact I just did a quick check and there very similar. S has slight advantage lower down then RS comes back. Very impressive. I can see why some gearboxes have saht it. I love the B8's as its the modern day B5 but a proper Q car.
  13. Lol, are you on Audisrs fourm? I saw a few guys doing the stage 2 group buy thing. Ive been very tempted by these, manual is quite rare is it not? If I were to go to one car it would be one of these or stretch to a C6 RS6 I think.
  14. Mk3 winter hack....it will have rusted away before end of December. :) I can see the appeal but to me Id just get a Mk4 4mo and save yourself £4500 and end up with a better car.
  15. Its the alarm or fobs as they keep disconneting. It will be fine for a while then through a hissy fit and after going through the programming process a heap of times it works again. Cars parked up and pretty much forgotten about for the moment as Ive got better things to think about.
  16. Lol, we bought an 06 Skoda VRS TFSI estate a few months back for her and I had these things lined up before we had the car. Thats quite a bit of wear on the cam follower. Maybe suggests it is mapped then as ours was barely marked after 60k miles?
  17. Thing is mate theres a good chance it will affect the rest of the UK's economy so you should care. I care about how it effects the rest of the UK and its one of the main reasons I voted No today. We are and should be part of a United Nation, Ive become less nationalistic through this process as it only seems to divide and breed some hatred. Id never thought Id ever say things like that but it has changed my view on Scotland, I think its almost selfish what were doing if it goes to a Yes. Almost a look after yourself at the expense of others attitude. There was a good BBC programme on this by Andrew Marr that looks into the effects of Scottish Indepedence on the rest of the UK. You can see why Westminster doesnt want it to happen. Food for thought for us all.
  18. Cider - Aspall or similar. Liking some Crabbies on a hot day this year. Red wine mostly to be honest, heavy ones. G&T, vodka and other stuff. Im not fussy but no Jack D or Morgans - hate the stuff. Went of lager and heavy beers, dont miss them. Was in Colorado last year and they love thier microbreweries IPA's etc over there and Ive noticed a lot more bars popping up like that now which is good. Oh and if its a whiskey its MacCallan or local to me Glendronach.
  19. Oh yeah check the Vagcom connections the two prong type.
  20. Ian, I've got full Vagcom if you need it done. Would be good to see the car again as well. Not sure on the running issues, never happened with me. I did have an issue once with an inline fuse connection that was under the rear seats driver side. Work checking. That.
