  1. Sorry might have misunderstood, are you talking about the clip that goes over the plastic tab on the headlights?
  2. Don't think so, I've been after some as well. Can't remember if you can't get them anymore or if they only come with full headlight
  3. Lol, let me get the engine running before I go snail shopping! Havnt seen it before, looks pretty mental. Though
  4. Now why did you have to post a pic of that in my build thread, my efforts look feeble now 😦
  5. Think they about the same, subframes and cross members are interchangeable between corrados, mk2's and mk3's. just look at people doing vr6 conversions to mk2s using corrado and mk3 parts. There may be subtle differences though but it's not something I've ever looked into I'm afraid, I'm betting the question has been asked and answered though
  6. I'm just trying to think of things that may be causing you problems. You said the mech wouldn't go in so one of the things I thought might be causing you a problem is this. Oh and I just realised it's me and you diagnosing someone's car on Facebook lol
  7. You have removed the handle havnt you? Because that will stop the mechanism from going in as the slam lever rests on the door catch lever. Like I said though, you will not get the full lock mechanism in with the plastic catch connected because the interior door handle pull will be impossible to put on. What you need to do is connect the rods to the plastic catch, you won't be able to just move the catch up and down because of the vacuum pump.
  8. I just want rid of it, taking up space in my already crowded garage! Got the VR6 engine, the R32 engine, the car, plus workbench so its a tight for space! What do you mean clumpy? I've read you can use a 4motion crank in an r32 block to lower the compression ready for a turbo! But I certainly won't be doing that, long term plan is to rebuild the VR and go turbo but we'll see how I get on with the R32. I like the idea of the car having its original engine
  9. Well I decided not to put it on the road this year, was rushing too much and I want it done right so back apart it comes. But for now here's a progress pic. Also, I have a spare r32 engine, havnt taken the head off yet but if anyone needs any bits or wants a cheap engine to rebuild give me a shout. Think I heard you can use 4mo head, crank and management with r32 bottom end to make an r30. And a pic my mate took midway through the second engine swap

    Bonjour! How do? Pictures required!
  11. I'm midway through mine, plenty of info in the 24v conversion thread but make sure you read it all thoroughly! Putting the engine in is the easy bit, the rest is the fun part!
  12. No, both go to that plastic bit, I know because when you push the door pin down it pushes against the vacuum of the pump. It's all coming back to me now
  13. Nah, the lock goes in last, the plastic bit should just sit in position so get the rods attached, then attach the interior handle rod, then lastly push the mech into the door and the plastic bit.
  14. I'm struggling to remember how I did it all. The door mech is massively fiddly, you have to prize out a catch from the mechanism and hook the rod from the interior door handle into it, the vertical rod will only need to sit in that plastic bit to move it up and down. You have to sort out the door catch first then push the lock mechanism into the plastic bit. If that all makes sense?
  15. Hehe, a few people are after my sump guard. Been meaning to get it drawn up on CAD so I can just give the drawing out to anyone that wants it. Havn't even seen my car in about 3 weeks though :( Never even ran the guard matt, but next time my car sees the road it will have a completely different engine that hopefully won't have any overheating issues, plus its higher than the subframe which is nice! The later bonnets have the hump in the middle for extra clearance but doesn't quite line up perfectly with the wings and front end. Also just found this thread after a quick google http://uk-mkivs.net/topic/49980-shallow-steel-sump-info/
  16. Well that plastic bit is only to lock and unlock so it only pushes the lever up and down. That bits the easiest bit, doing the door release I found an absolute pain in the arse. What are you struggling with exactly? Looks like you have it right in the top pic though
  17. I've got a sump guard sat in my garage, mason tech made the original then someone had some made. I had problems with oil temps, made a massive difference just taking the splitter off so putting a sump guard will most likely be even worse. I'm fairly sure you can get a shorter sump for the 1.8t and even more so you can get one with steel bottom section. As for raising the engine i doubt you will notice that much difference in centre of gravity, but you may find clearance on the bonnet difficult if you have an early bonnet
  18. Yea think Chris rang around somewhere earlier on in this thread but didn't get much discount. Either way I'm after a 9" and a 11" fan so I'll be on the lookout fairly soon
  19. I'll be in for a group buy on fans if your offering to organise it matt hehe
  20. Ooh got a fan for sale fla, I'll be interested as well, details please.
  21. There are pros and cons to each engine but a hell of a lot of advice is vague and lacks any backup information, I don't think I've read anywhere about the oil cooler being different. I will battle on, I just need to figure out how to fit a hanging pedal, even if I have to make a mongrel one! I do have a 3.2 block ideal for making an r30 Shaun ;)
  22. Well I'm still learning new things about this conversion every day and hopefully when I finally have my car on the road I'll write what I have learn't for anyone looking at doing it. For now I've just see that the oil cooler on the mk4/TT is different from the A3/MK5, bloody typical! For anyone wanting to do the conversion I would strongly advise getting the TT or the mk4, my A3 is a royal pain in the arse and the most awkward engine you can use! The oil cooler pipes point directly at the power steering pipe so fouls on that, mk4/TT however point forwards as opposed to towards drivers side. So my question here is, I plan to swap the oil cooler over, does anyone know if they are interchangeable? I would presume so but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong
  23. Don't forget about me Chris! I'd like 2 sets please
  24. They fit very well matt, chris popped round to try them and they are a nice fit. Need to buy some fans now!
