Where did you get the downpipe from? Looks a nice bit of kit
-
ChrisL did a group buy not long ago for some brackets, nice bit of kit for securing a 9" and 11", think Sean_jaymo runs a single 11" and says that runs fine. Not sure why you want a mocal, from what I hear the 24v runs massively cooler than the vr6. Is it because of engine mount? The mk5 oil cooler seems to be bigger than the mk4 by the way, ive just bought a mk4 type because it's smaller and water pipes enter from the front not the side

I used to have an old suzuki swift I converted to a Gti, I took that to Cadwell and that was a whole lot of fun! Nearly went in to the back of a Caterham type kit car on the left hander after the main straight, he wanted to Brake and I was taking the corner flat out. Definitely want another track car, a little pocket rocket.

Yea I know that feeling all too well! I'm sure I'll be told I'm doing it wrong here but I tend to flush out the system whilst the thermostat is out then bolt everything back together, fill the radiator up through the top hose, undo the pipe on the header tank and raise it above the header so air can escape and brim the header then reattach everything and let the car run for a while with the header cap off.
-
Pretty interesting read that, horrible looking thing but a nice bit of engineering!
-
It does sound thermostat related but you can tell if thermostat is stuck open if the car takes ages to heat up. I wouldn't assume that because you have changed something it hasn't broken, agree with Sean I'd be looking at thermostat I just had some sticky back foam from hobbycraft I was using to stop rattles I just covered over the flap with, and yes those holes should be completely covered! But as said above, I'd start with thermostat, if I remember correctly its an absolute pain to get to that flap!

Info from below thread: White is High Oil pressure sensor Blue is Low Oil pressure sensor http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?195556-help-knowing-what-sensors-do-2-0-9a-KR-engine

Well the flap is supposed to guide the air either through the heater matrix or straight out the fans. That flap, as I mentioned, moves and when the foam has gone it doesn't really do much. I had it all out when I did heater matrix and replaced the foam
-
It's a very simple system, fan in passenger footwell, through to a flap that is either open or closed. This is how it's not supposed to look but probably does now!
-
The foam is from the flap in the heater box, nothing major to worry about. The heater flap in the control box has a sheet of foam across it and deteriorates with time or in my case when my heater matrix popped and soaked the foam. It won't be blocking anything, of anything it unblocking it! You may have a blockage in your heater when you've changed the water, easy enough to do. Try bleeding the system, I'm betting that will help

Sorry I can't answer any questions about standalone as I'm running oem, but what you are wanting to achieve is swap all connections going to ecu over to standalone and all connections going into audi fusebox will then either need to be put into f, g1 & g2 connections or some are made redundant. You are lucky, the a3/mk5 3.2 looms are an absolute nightmare to convert You should be able to keep all factory sensors, don't think you need to swap any sensors

Just logged in on chrome on my laptop and advert is right in the bloody way, very annoying!!!
-
Yea, I'd have to agree with Sean, havnt got my r32 on the road yet so £1k is just too much before I've even driven it
-
Happened to me a while ago as well, funny thing was I was just pulling over to help a fellow dubber broken down by the side of the road and pulled my handbrake completely off... Oops

Well looks like Burton power are about cheapest for revotec but website doesn't list curved blades, did you have to call up to get them Sean or am I missing something?
-
Was that for revotec fans? I'm not sure what effect curved blades has on the cooling/efficiency. Anyone recommend?
-
I have got some of the slimline fan brackets from the recent group buy so I'm now after the fans to go with them, just wondering where is everyone getting their fans from? I'll need a 9" and 11"
-
Well it appears you got one from euro car parts, just got a text from my dad saying he was in the queue behind a guy buying a battery for an L reg corrado lol, small world!
-
You are bad people, i may be interested
-
Or dragonspeed!
-
Wow, now that is the ultimate garage. Car is looking good, sits very nice!
-
Think you are talking about voo51 or similar name, seemed a little ott, the wheels were 5x100 9x16 but car was 4x100 (think it was that way round) so after adapters made it about et-10. Thing was the wheels were available in right stud pattern and not too difficult to find. Nice job though

He wishes it was Red ;-)

Some cracking progress matt! Where did you end up getting the fans from by the way? Need to order some myself
