  1. I think the Cam Position Sensor is called the Impulse sensor- or thats what I had to ask the dealer for. Its part number 021 907 601A. Dead easy to find. Take off the plastic cover that lies over the coil pack (so thats the two spline bolts on the top, and one round the back side), the sensor sits above the coil pack and is held on by one allen bolt. I know this cos I just changed mine the weekend cos its been down on power for the last few weeks- fook me I haven't smiled so much for weeks when I took it for a drive- the difference it makes is just unbelievable.. anyway comes to about £40 from the stealer :D
  2. Its not even worth playing with a Cupra R- they can be chipped up for peanuts and then push out 260-280 BHP yet still look absolutely standard- Guy at works got one and its a flying machine. If you get a rolling start against a non-chipped Cupra anf take full advantage of the VR's lightening quick 30-70 then you certainly shouldn't come too far behind..
  3. couldn't it just be that you have knock sensor which is slowly giving up the ghost? maybe working a bit of the time and then conking out- its something ABS sensors do for fun. The ECU would store the fault code even if it went out of range just once- but i bet both were working fine when you checked them. I would clear the fault codes, run for another week and then check again. If it flags a problem again you'll probably need to replace them both Mike
  4. My guess is that ebay seller is actually someone from the liquid leather company- its the same price as the website so its not just some chancer trying to make some money. FJ- would be great to see some before and after shots of your leather. I have a black interior too and the leather is just starting to lose its face in some tiny spots on the bolster- would be good to see if this stuff could stop it before it gets worse
  5. Got any pics Lee? I am from Leeds (kirkstall) anyway so could meet up somewhere and have a look at them. Cheers
  6. Hello Am in the good situation where I can put the Corrado into overdue retirement soon, due to imminent purchase of a sheddy old Corsa Diesel to rack the miles in. Now I can afford for the C to be off the road for a few days at a time, I am going to polish the inlet manifold. I kind of know how to get it off but are there any consumables like bolts or gaskets I will need to get it back on again. Also how much would it cost to get it sent away to be polished? and lastly, anyone know where I can buy a different engine top cover (the bit thats says DOHC 2.9 on it), maybe a carbon one or something? Cheers for any help Mike
  7. Wahey- You are the man, 8) Order placed- nice guy as well, I told him he may well get a few more calls about this over the next few weeks- I assume everything else needed to get these working is available from the UK then? Cheers Mike
  8. Yep I have had just the same from two dealers now- one actually tried ordering the part but said the system blocked him from ordering because it was obsolete... Don't want to sound cheeky Dave B but what dealer are you ordering this from. I might give them a call myself and try my luck with them. Cheers Mike
  9. Aye your not wrong. Well phoned the dealer up again and he said it comes up on his system as part obsolete and that he is not even able to place an order for this part. Oh Bugger. I really wanted one of those as well
  10. Wow, Along with probably about a million other people I called the dealer as soon as I saw the post. He says that I can order the two gauges, but the piece of trim panel is definitely not in stock and there is no part number!!! Can anyone help- My only hope is that maybe the trim panel comes complete with one of the gauges but its a long shot- Let us know what part numbers you ordered mate- I'll be putting my order in prontsky
  11. People will answer this better than I can- but its something to do with your suspension springs not being seated correctly and catching when you go round corners- rather than turning with the wheels like they should.
  12. Pretty sure its under the gear stick gaitor, thats where it is on my '95 VR. Dead easy to get at :D
  13. The traction control won't work over a certain speed. A good test is to get in on some snow or ice- wind down the windows and spin the wheels hard in first. As the speed of the wheels drops down below 20 odd mph the EDL will kick in and you will hear the familiar ABS sound.
  14. It sounds a bit obvious but if it has got knackered or worn discs on at the moment then its amazing the difference some new VW metal, pagid fast road pads and a brake fluid change will make
  15. Hi, Today was the first time and the last time I use my Corrado to carry my mountain bike around in. Spent two hours biking then about the same again getting the car clean again :? Was thinking about buying one of those bike racks that fit on the back of the car. Does anyone else use these and if so can you recommend me a brand/ model that fits OK. Not sure how the spoiler will affect things either- maybe I'll have to take the fuse out or something? Cheers Mike
  16. Yes it does- My resistor came wrapped in a bit of foam, so I used two small circular fabric plasters and used them to sandwich the resistor between (a nice trick actually). I think this stops the resistor from reacting too quickly to the heat from the element. Cheers
  17. Yep your right. The circular metal piece is the temperature sensitive resistor that allows you to set the temperature for the seat. Just be careful with your soldering- The resistor is so small that its easy to bridge the terminals. Its a separate circuit to the heater element like you say. Mike
  18. Yes you can, and the base is a ten minute job to change, bolsters more tricky but there is great guide in the how to section. You guys really want to get this stuff quick. My bolster had to come germany and took ages, there won't be many left
  19. Mine did just that when the thermostat jammed shut. Mine had collapsed completely and jammed shut and wouldn't run for more than a few minutes before dumping the lot. Maybe yours is on its way out too :(
  20. No its no problem getting the pad off a seat base- you'll just pull out big chunks of foam off the base. This is fine if you have new seat base as well cos you just change the pad over. Its only a problem if you wanted to reuse the base :)
  21. Truly couldn't be easier- just whip the seat out, the leather pad is just stretched from the back to the front and secured using two metal clips on the rails on the front. Take the clips off, lift the base up, undo two wire retainers which stretch the leather around the foam and take off the leather pad to expose the seat pad/ foam. One problem is that the heated seat pad is stuck so well to the foam that you'll gouge strips out of the base if you need to remove. Wasn't a problem for me cos I had a new base- not sure how to remove it without causing this tho :( Well worth getting a new base though anyway  Cheesr
  22. Hi Spent the weekend doing some work on the driver seat- few comments I thought I would share: Put a new foam seat base in- looked identical to the old one (that's now done 97k..) that came out :( , until I took it for a drive :) . The new foam is so much more effective at absorbing road bumps its untrue- If anyones got a lowered car and £40 odd quid knocking around I couldn't recommend getting one enough- especially cos they won't be around for much longer Got a new heated seat pad from the stealer (One of the last apparently) :), they gave me the wrong one :( (probably a back rest one  ). Luckily managed to fix the old one- what had happened is the seats pads are thermostatically controlled using a temperature sensitive resisistor in the pad itself, and the wire had come loose to it, giving no resistance and hence the seats wouldn't come on. You can check by putting a multimeter across pins 3 & 4 on the seat side of the multiplug (these are the middle two out of the six- upper and lower). If you get no resistance (but get no continuity instead)- then thats whats happened. This might explain why someone might have a pad with no visible burning but that still didn't work. Finally did the bolster- well worth doing- these are discontinued now to :( , I have an extra one which I'll ebay up soon- doubt it will fetch much so i'll post the link. Cheers Mike
  23. The Corrado is a wind as well- I'll find out where its from when I get home tonight
  24. Do a search on this one fella, The most likely problem is one of the front sensors- it takes a minute with a multimeter to find out if these are the problem- there have been a few posts on here that tell you what you need to do. Mike
