  1. Hi, Will be finally fitting bolster/ seat base and heated seat element this weekend. Obviously the bolster should be straightforward if I follow Mssr Haywires guide. Anyone got any advice on fitting the foam base? or is it just dead easy :?: Cheers
  2. Nissan 350z made the top ten  That is rapidly becoming my car of choice to replace the Corrado in a few years time (rather than the S3 which seems to bethe current favourite with many) . Especially the new one 350z with all the bodykit etc on. mmmm

I had a good look through this forum before I got mine done and didn't see any mention about paint chips. I think these guys should use heat guns on the paint to make it softer, might be worth checking he is going to do the same. £70 sounds good too.
  4. Emerald green Corrado on the M62 then M621 about ten ish last night. Anyone here :?: The car actually looked a lot like GixxerUK's car on the post above 8)
  5. There have been quite a few MPG thread on the forum recently- I have been feeling quite smug cos mine is showing some great MPG figures so I have been congratulating myself on how good my car must be  I always use optimax, but decided to use shell 95 to save some beans. I filled up on a motorway and had a good fifty minute fast drive after so the engine should have set itself up for the new octane just fine; and bugger me if the fuel economy wasn't approx 4mpg less, both in town and on the motorway :? The engine didn't feel down on power or misfire with the 95 so I have to imagine the knock sensors etc are OK. Filled back up with optimax today- everythings back like it should be ie 34-35 on the motorway. Might be worth trying optimax if anyone is suffering from poor mpg on 95 ron :D Cheers
  6. An interesting choice for me- bearing in mind 5k is not a massive amount of cash, I could be tempted by a cheap Ibiza cupra R (the older shape ones- x reg ish)- Obviously a very difficult animal to the VR6 but I have a sneaky feeling it would be a hell of a lot of fun
  7. I know that road well mate- One of the best roads to drive fast that I know- yet it does have some difficult corners that will catch you out if you don't know the road :( Thats a bad day mate- at least your OK. I'll take it a bit slower myself next time I use that road :|
  8. You can get a broken element in the seat pad- ie a clean break- not one thats due to a burn out Mine has the same- no scorch marks but won't work. On mine the wires will sometimes touch and the seat will work, so I can make the relay click on and off by pressing at the point of the pad where I know the break is. The wires on your pad may not be close enough to do the same. I am going down the new pad route to be honest- along with a new seat base and a new bolster :)
  9. yep the red VR6 badges are no longer in stock- Its a shame cos I have moved to Leeds recently- nice area and all but the cars on the road- am seriously thinking about taking the front VR badge and the rear storm badge off; Both add that little extra to the car and both would be very difficult to replace if they got knicked :( No worries- just makes my car look more popular than it really is :D
  10. Yes I did- I think it matches the red Storm badge- I am going to but a silver one though and just change them round as and when I fancy it. Cheers for the comments though 8)
  11. aye- your not wrong. :( Its not as scary as you think when you have got three lanes of empty M62 to play with. :D Was thinking how the fook I got this speed out of the VR- The external temp was minus 2 and I reckon that was the reason why it went so fast :?
  12. Just got a new fastest speed out of the 'ol VR. Was driving down the M62 tonight, cup of coffee in hand, having just filled up with a tank full of shell '95 cos the optimax is just getting too pricey; when a 225 S3 and a fancy looking impreza came past at about a ton. Jumped on the back and went for a few miles when the Impreza nails it and Audi follows. Put the pedal to the metal, gets past the S3 and pulling up on the Impreza- looked at the clock- 158   (this is downhill and getting a pull from someone). The VR felt solid as a rock at this speed and I am sure I must have given the Audi a shock. The Guy in the Impreza pulls into the outside lane and we drew level at indicated 155mph, he looks across and gives me a grin only to see me with one hand on the wheel drinking a cup of coffee :) Good fun I tell thee
  13. Yeah that guys having a laugh. One important thing that Henny mentioned is the reprofiling of the rim. When I took my solitudes in there were great chunks out of them from spin damage. They came back like new :)

    VR6 - MPG

had a crack at trying to get the best MPG last night. Managed 36 mpg after forty minutes of dingley dell B road. The amazing thing was that I reset the MFA2 ten minutes into the drive- and the MFA2 MPG at the same time (ie half an hours driving minus the cold start) came to 40.8 MPG   Thats gotta be a record :)
  15. I have used Toyos on my VR for a year now- never had any droning noticeable enough to cause me to think there was a problem :?
  16. Jesus Henny- I have to say you seem to have such a positive attitude to these things 8), especially given the fact that your car is (or was :( )nigh on perfect now. Hope it gets sorted soon though :|
  17. hey I aint going too- just thought it was a good place to locate it  :) The only way my cars going anywhere is if it gets towed, and I even park in places that couldn't be accessed by a truck now- how bad is that
  18. mmm not a bad place to locate a switch like that IMO. I was very suprised how easy it was to access underneath the gaitor (I guess the need to access the OBD2 port on later C's may have had something to do with it), i doubt any potential thief would think to look their :) (unles they just read this post :( )
  19. I believe thats exactly what it does 8)
  20. aye it could well be. I have to say a green paint/ grey interior doesn't sound my favourite combination- though having never seen one in the flesh i am prepared to change my mind if people say it looks OK
  21. I had just the same problem a few days ago- about a cm of water in the drivers footwell :( However I know exactly where its coming in from :) , in the 'tray' (where the wiper motor, fan housing etc sit), there is a large grommit on the back of the bulkhead going in to the drivers compartment. Even when the car is level the water just sits under the level of the grommit before being drained off near the wing. If the car is on a slope facing upwards the water pools about half a cm up on the grommit and leaks through (ie drips in at mid- pedal level inside the car). Have been packing grease around it so far to stop it coming in- but once one drop of water gets through then capillary action means the whole bloody lot goes through  Just though I would mention this a possible option :)
  22. Yes the central locking does sound pretty wimpy. My old corsa door pins used to slam up and down with a right thud. I actually think I preferred it that way too  Just think it sounded much more 'efficient' Mike
  23. Dave- what part numbers are these gauges? I have got a load of stuff to order from VW- I'll tag these on the back and see what happens  Cheers
  24. OK mate- cheers 8) Ford dealer it is then :)
