  1. My 24v is wired up to the diagnostic block behind the dash and I actually still use the old obd1 plugs to connect to. Look behind the dash, on top of the centre tunnel (from the left hand footwell with lower trim removed) and you will see the block with the diagnostic feeds. The plugs are junior timer type 2 pin plugs. 1 colour is grey and that's the actual diagnostic line and the other cable is yellow with a coloured (can't remember exactly which) tracer and that provides the power for the diagnostics line. The abs needs both wires fitted but should be fitted to the terminal block as it should remain untouched during a normal conversion. All you need to do is run the diagnostic feed from the 24v ecu to the same bank of pins that the grey line connect to and you should have no problems.
  2. I think the ccgb does a wonderful job considering how few active members it has spread over such a wide area. Just a shame that not everyone can be pleased all the time.
  3. I got the stock airbox, looks oe ish and sounds good rumbling around town :-)
  4. I've been watching /Drive for ages, fantastic channel. The Chris Harris on Cars channel is also very good. If we ever get rid of Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear because he's gone "a bit too far this time", My vote would be to have Chris Harris step into his place. He's entertaining, knowledgeable and passionate and a bit self deprecating which are all good things in my book!
  5. Glad I wasn't the only one feeling poor all of a sudden!
  6. I think the only cars that will struggle will be the modified ones with mods that can't be reversed or tatty high milers. I'm sure the rest of them will creep up gradually. I doubt they will ever really be worth anything apart from the few low mileage minters.
  7. If the car is lowered equally left and right, then no, it won't stress the drop links as the arb should rotate independently to the wishbones. Likely corrosion and a cheap part combination is to blame here!
  8. There are a lot of people I'm sure who would be very interested!
  9. Took time out from from fixing it and actually took it for a drive! Still love it to bits, but I'm not feeling at one with the Ch's, maybe I'll think about something else. They look great but maybe they don't do what I want for the driving dynamics. I guess if the right offer came along I could be more persuaded than I would have been in the past. Will see what happens :-)
  10. Cheers Sean, means a lot after the work and attention to detail you clearly stick into yours. Unfortunately there is always work to do on this car, but I think that's half the fun for me! I loves a project me!
  11. Haha! I'll class it as a good day myself! I'll get that loom made up for you ASAP.
  12. Well in that case, I hope you find what you are looking for. As you say, £400 plus is a lot of money to spend before it even runs, but unfortunately it's one of those things that needs doing. Once I bit the bullet, my rebuild really gathered pace. Going from experience, you don't need to worry about UM manifolds. They are exactly what is needed with no drama. Shame that the customer experience is so very poor. Matt is good, but he is also impossible to contact which isn't really excusable.
  13. Is the Mk5 manifold better than a Mk4 version Swiftkid? If there is no difference, might it not be easier to find a mk4 manifold than get a manifold made to fit? Either that or bin of the manifold entirely and go 6 branch?
  14. Dubpower do the conversion manifold in 6 branch guise and United Motorsport do the manifold in standard 2 into 1 pipe. I have the UM pipe on mine and i'm very impressed with it!
  15. Well, In between the showers I managed to rebuild the car. In the end I made up my own brackets and fitted the Revotec to them. I decided that the nasty through radiator ties were infact actually nasty and not the way to do things just to get the car back on the road earlier. Results? The car now runs beautifully cool, 85 on a cruise and 90/92 in traffic. Mixed with the T4 radiator thermoswitch which comes on a little bit cooler than a VR6 one which turns on at 85 and off at 80 which translates to on at 92 and off at 88 on the gauge (which I assume is because the block is warmer than the radiator). Add in a nice efficient fan without the huge shroud fitted to reduce the airflow and I'm chuffed. One less problem to fix, for now! I also wired in the stuff required to get my adaption values to register and that works too, which is nice! The only thing left I need to get done is to have 2 bungs welded in for the post cat lambas and everything should be working perfectly! Time to work on other problems then and there are a few! Namely that the bonnet release cable trumpet screw sheared on me earlier so I'm now stuck with a bonnet that won't open unless I get in behind the grille! Oh well!
  16. Would you be able to make up a 24v turbo conversion downpipe? I'm not going to be in the market myself (yet!) but there are a few people who may be soon.
  17. I ordered one from the eBay dude earlier, thanks for the offer though :-)
  18. My local dealer couldn't find any. Don't know if it's a combination of useless dealer and no stock or just that they don't have any in stock. Either way it 90 mins round trip to my next closest dealer/tps, so I'll take the hit on cost if indeed this is a bit of profiteering :-)
  19. It does thank you! It was the lacquer that had collapsed and shattered not the actual carbon, sorry if I never made it clear in my previous post.
  20. I saw a carbon bonnet on a Corrado last week (didn't speak to the owner so don't know who provided the bonnet) and it had bad impact damage from a stonechip. The Carbon looked ok, a little thin for my liking, but the clear coat over it had shattered badly and what was presumably a standard stone chip, made the whole front of the car look terrible. Is this a trait of cheap bonnets or is this something that can't be avoided regardless of who makes it? I'm not trying to sully your products, it's purely something that got me thinking when I saw the damage.
  21. Well in that case, get a thread started man!
