  1. There seems to be confusion over the issue of the MOT emissions testing and the fitment of Catalysts. The MOT requires All cars first registered on or after August 1992 or fitted with a "k" registration to meet the Catalyst emissions test requirements. It does not actually require a catalytic converter to be fitted, and furthermore this is not a reason for rejection or MOT failure. A vehicle that falls into this emissions category, irrespective of whether or not it has a cat fitted, will be passed or failed according to it's gas emissions. Therefore if your car passes the cat test and you have removed the cat and replaced it with whatever alternative, you have passed the MOT requirement. I would add however that i have tested alot of vehicles which have had cats replaced with alternative non cat pipes and whilst some pass the emissions test, most do fail even if only buy the smallest margain! I can supply Milltek Sport systems, Hi Flow Sport Cats, and cat by-pass pipes for forum customers at extremely competative prices ( please see Milltek Products thread for details). Whilst i appreciate and respect the opinions held by individuals i would urge any prospective system buyers to experience first hand Milltek products, before making final selection. I have a large custom base of Milltek clients the vast majority of which are delighted with these superb quality systems. I have had occaision to assist some clients with difficulties, but would hope that this small minority have found the after sales service offered by both Milltek and JMR to be both honourable and exemplary. It is my belief that these systems are a top quality aftermaket option, that compliment the cars they are fitted to, and have been in many cases the first manufacturers product onto the market offering credible power upgrades whilst retaining a quality equal to the engineering onto which they are fitted. I welcome all enquiries and indeed look forward to hearing from any interested individuals.
  2. Before you go changing the rack, be aware that new components can be faulty, or indeed may have become insecure. Best to check the systems thoroughly before going to this expense. You say you have had the alignement done many times, this suggests that a component or components are altering the geometry at random. Again i reiterate get the systems as fitted checked first before further expense. When checking the systems be sure to check the front subframe security and integrity, corrosion and stress, over the age to be considered, is now a relavant factor.
  3. The procedure for changinging the VR6 mount is very simillar to that of the 4 cylinder engines except they are held in place with two bolts, one in the top and the other in the base. The VR6 mount sits into the front crossmember as opposed to the 4 cylinder engine mount which sits on the crossmember. The VR6 front mount is typically easier to change than the 4 cylinder equivalant. If you can afford yourself the wait Neil, i will be able to supply you with an alloy front mount.

    G60 induction

that's an inspired addition for any PUG, cos who wants to sober up to find out they actually own one of these
  5. Thanks for the shout ref my front engine mounts, they are proving to be a very popular product in the line up. Mind you at half the price of a Vibratech and pretty much same diff for OEM part, on price allone they represent a great deal. So vwdubs, why did i not get to sell you one of these     :?:
  6. Hi Brian, As you are so near to me why not take the oportunity to call in and experience the performance characteristics of this mount on your Corrado. It does not take long to fit and i am sure that you will not be disapointed. As said earlier the crossmember on which the mount sits is itself rubber mounted, so unwanted vibration can not be a cause for concern. These mounts have been going like hot cakes, thanks for your interest. The VR6 mount should be available in the near future, i will keep you posted.

    sirocco mk1

On My MK1 Scrocco G60 i used the TSR upgrade kit that gave 285mm front discs with original calliper. This combo works very well. Incidentally this car is for sale if anyone is interested?
  8. Rich, sure most things can be made to fit with time and enough money. The question i would ask first however is what gain will be had from said component. Surely if you are to be going to all this effort would it not be better to fit an intercooler that will give the best fit, with minimal effort and yield maximum gain? I don't want to rain on your parade, but moreover, would rather see you sorted properly rather than persue Hobson's choice therein compounding an allready flawed decission.
  9. Rich, give me a call before you go for another impulse purchase, your theory is good but the parts chosen are not suitable. There have been many permutations of improved intercooler installation onto the G60, many of them documented on this forum. It would be best to discuss your requirements before proceeding with a purchase.
  10. Just a note to add to the Magnex forum :? . I've said this before and will say it again, why don't the forum members with Milltek systems speak up to expess their satisfaction with this superb product  ? I have since Mid May this year sold over 35 systems to forum members allone, does this not say something for the ellidgability and desirability of the Milltek product. To read this thread you would think very differently. I don't wish to dissmiss the Magnex systems, but would at least press for a fair trial. Blown, give me a call if you wish before making a final decission, i will be happy to answer your every question on this topic.
  11. vwDubs, details have been PM'd to you as requested. Would it be possible to have a show of hands as to who might be interested in a VR6 solid alloy front engine mount, for simillar money as the 16V / G60 front mounts? It would be useful for me to gauge the size of my first production run.
  12. At present JMR mounts are restricted to the front mount only, and to be honest in the majority of cases this is the only one requiring to be upgraded. I have found that by fitting a JMR mount to the front and new original VW mounts to the rear and gearbox the engine is superbly braced and able to deal with torque control more than adequately. VR6 front mounts are still under developement and will hopefully be available soon. Do you require an appology to then Kev? :-P I thought that it was more a matter of symetry, and natural progression to put a matching wiper on the rear. If you indeed were the first to carry out this mod then i salute you sir :salute:
  13. Hi Rack,   I offer you an unreserved appology for my earlier comment which it would appear was made in error. I have made the mistake of reading your text and believing it to make reference to the thread topic. This indeed has been done by a number of my forum colleagues locally. I stand corrected however, and hope you will accept my appology as a genuine gesture of reconciliation.
  14. Cheeky Bar Steward  , ten out of ten for bare faced cheek. I know mimicry is supposed to be a complimentary facet, but i think your suggestion is more allong the lines of taking the p***s :-P . It's very kind of you to offer your assistance with regard to production of these mounts, but i allready have an engineer who does this job to my satifaction. Furthermore i have stock of these mounts and a plentifull replenishment service upon their sale. Lastly your touching concern for my busy lifestyle is truly moving, it may put you at ease to know that i am quite capable of dealing with my business commitments, and your offer to relieve my ill percieved stress by copying my latest product will, with all due respect, not be required. Apollogies if this sounds edgy but i have had my ideas and products stolen from under me before and the wound takes along time to heal.

    Service

Trip to the Seaside maybe  I'm not in London but i do look after alot of Corrados from the "big smoke" will be happy to service your Corrado, if you can deal with the 60 mile trip to the Sussex coast. I look forward to hearing from you.

    lupo wipers

Any of you interested in having the rear wiper arm modded to match the front Lupo style items, i am happy to carry out these works direct or via mail order. You or i can supply the parts ie a Lupo arm and blade, and the Corrado rear arm. The labour charge for these works is £35. If Duncan can supply a pic of the works recently done to his Corrado, this will illustrate the end result.
  17. Allong with a colleague of mine and the manufacturing skills of my usual engineering works, i am able now to offer solid alloy front engine mounts to fit the four cylinder engined Corrado and Golf derrivatives. These items have been available for a little while now, and the feedback from my customers has proven the mount to be excellent in service. These mounts are a direct swap for the existing item and offer far superior engine movement control in particular for cars with improved output. There are no problems encountered with harshness in take up of drive or indeed with vibration, remember the front brace onto which the mount is fitted, is itself rubber mounted to the chassis. With other options in this area costing up to £135 i think the JMR asking price of £70 represents great value for money. I offer these in either the alloy finnish or they can be blue annodised for £10 extra. I will try to put up some pics to illustrate these new JMR solid alloy front engine mounts ASAP.
  18. THe outlet on the back of the charger is a Golf MK2 GTI G60 outlet fitted from the factory as part of the Aircon package. These are readily available from dealer and i port them out prior to fitting to match the charger. Interested?
  19. Sadly Neil these items are not serviceable and if indeed they are making noises they may well be past their sell buy date. Cleaning as we discussed has clearly not stopped the problem which could have been trapped debris or corrosion. Might it be true that these units were off a non VR6 Corrado and the extra load on allready used units is telling on their condition?

    Charging a 16v

"Not a cost effective gain" Wash these words from the forum straight away, you heratic  Have a ride in a 16VG60 powered Corrado before abandoning this project, or making such sweeping statements. The 16v G60 engine has torque by the bucket full, craves to be driven and amalgamates all the best characteristics of both the 16V and G60 engines. So it might take a while and a few quid to complete, but such things are the inspiration of phraises like "the best things in life are worth waiting for" And " is this available with the parashute braking option" . The VW scene is rife with turbo cars, the 16V G60 option is still enjoying an elite niche.
  21. Long pedal travel is indicative of either air in the system and or very worn brake components. Does your brake pedal travel become less if you pump the pedal repetatively? If yes to this then you have air in the system. Bleeding is the answer to this once you have checked the system for any other faults. As regards the servo you can carry out a simple check on this by pumping the brake pedal 5 to 6 times apprx to discharge the servo stored vaccum, the start the engine whilst at the same time pressing upon the brake pedal. You should feel the pedal drop and give a little owing to the servo effect. Try these tests and see how you go. Give me a call if you need further help.
  22. As Nathan says i can supply you with a Milltek Sports Cat, or i do also have a second hand VR6 cat which is in very good condition ie heat shield all in place and has covered very low mileage. Give me a call if you are interested my number is 07974 020031. I look forward to hearing from you.
  23. Have fitted Corrado rear beam bushes in Golf MK2 many times now, and yes they work extremely well ! With regard to poly bushes, after having played with these in road cars, i much prefer new standard VW items. The OE VW bushes offer superb control and compliance, furthermore they are quiet in operation and allow your teeth to stay where intended ! The only application for an uprated component to be fitted on a Corrado is the rear bush in the front lower arms. Given that alot of owners judge the standard rubber upon it's performance at the ripe old age of 10 plus years, it's no wonder they rush into buying uprated items. The decay of suspension components is so gradual that it goes un-noticed until drawn to the attention. I have totally re-furbed a number of Corrados for their owners and without exception they are astonished by the vast improvement. My recomendation is to stay with the OE kit even if you have uprated the performance of your Corrado.
  24. There is no need to use polyurethane mounts, chain re-enforced mounts or indeed any other variety of "uprated" mount when fitting a Milltek system. The reason being that weight is not an issue, the Milltek system is substantially lighter than the VW OE system. Standard VW rubber hangers are more than capable of supporting the system in a vertical plane, it is lateral bracing which is more important, and OE items offer this and are far more heat tollerant than polyurethane. Heat is a critical issue to be considered as in common with all stainless steel systems the Milltek system in use becomes extremely hot. Neil, give me a call as i suggested and i will happily supply you with the mounts required. As you live not far from me you could collect some tonight?
  25. Thanks for all your help guys, especially yourself Andi. Nathan Hawksworth approached me over the phone direct in response to seeing the forum details, so sadly i don't have his user name. The reason i need to contact him is that in with his Milltek system parcel was included a cat by-pass pipe (packed in error) which he did not require. He promissed he would return this to me but i have heard nothing and he seems to evade all means by which i try to contact him. Oh well, life's too short and all that, i'll try sending another letter. Thanks again for your help. For the record the other Nathan to which this thread refers (jedi knight) is a fine upstanding fellow who will be the recipientof a shiny new Milltek soon plus some other works. Jedi knight is not in any way implicated in this shananigans.
