  1. I have been largely obsessed by 80s/early 90s performance VWs for many years now. I have so far owned several Mk2 Golfs and have just bought my 7th Corrado! For the first time I will be owning 2 Rados at the same time, as I still own my 6th (a 95 classic green VR6). Anyway, I have never started an owners thread so thought now was about time! I picked up the new obsession on Sunday and after the first week, evolving an unusually high number of miles, I can report that I am very happy with my purchase. So, to the specifics of the car. I had been interested in the particular Classic Green Storm for quite some time. I had determined to primarily look for Classic Green as I already own a 95 VR in that colour ( which could donate any body panels easily to e Storm). Indeed I had previously owned a VR in Storm spec (apart from Wheels & Badges) which wasn't actually a Storm. Having also owned a Mystic Blue Storm (not to mention a nearly new Mk3 Golf Driver in the Mystic hue) I decided it must be Classic Green. The car I decided to purchase was based in Scotland near Edinburgh. The owner (Craigowl on forum) was only the second custodian of the Storm, having owned it since 2002! After much emailing and huge reams of photos sent by Craigowl (thankyou muchly for being so pleasant to deal with, nothing too much trouble) I booked a one way rail ticket from Surrey to Edinburgh..that's how confident I was with the information and communication from Craigowl. Early last Sunday morning I lugged a heavy rucksack (full of maps, satnav, clothing, IPad, chargers etc as well as my tent (more on that later) to the local mainline station. The weather was glorious, too nice for trudging into London Kings Cross with muchos kit! Anyway, being sweaty didnt bother me- I was just too excited about the new car! The journey up to Scotland was very pleasant (largely helped by taking the plunge on the Weekend First Class upgrade for £25! I made it my mission for the journey to not say no to anything offered and think I must have consumed around £50 worth of catering/coffee/fizzy drinks! The views of Scotland were also very pleasant as the train passed alongside the coast. Upon arrival Craigowl was waiting for me at the station and I could see the car in the station carpark as the train pulled in. The car really impressed me with the standard look and the overall condition. It is a real credit to its 2 former keepers. I spent a very pleasant couple of hours in the company of Mr and Mrs Craigowl as we lazily discussed the Corrado (amongst many other topics), It was too warm to do anything in a hurry! When it was time to leave and all the paperwork had been attended to I couldn't believe the car was actually mine. I drove off very tentatively for the long drive back to London. The roads from Edinburgh area to the motorway were very pleasant and I enjoyed using the acceleration of the Corrado to dispatch a few meandering Lorries. At the same time I picked the car up my brother and his Gf have been doing the Coast to Coast walk from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay, so I had arranged to break the journey up by meeting them Sunday evening in Richmond (North Yorks). I met them in the Market Square outside the Kings Head Hotel. They both looked incredibly frazzled by the weather more than the walk! I had agreed to walk the following days stage with them from Richmond to Danby Wiske. They were at pains to point out to me that the leg I was doing happened to be the shortest and just about the flattest of the whole Walk! The walk was very enjoyable through the countryside and we camped in the Pub Garden overnight, before I grabbed a taxi the 14 miles back to Richmond to collect my car from the hotel. I must say that enjoyable as the walk was, it didnt compare to driving home to Surrey in my new Storm! I hope this lovely 107k miler will be a keeper, also determined to treat it as kindly as its previous 2 careful owners. After all we never own these cars, we are just the custodians preserving them for future generations!?!.. A few photos. More to follow over. I will endeavour to keep the thread updated regularly with changes, maintenance and road trips Thanks for reading
  2. I am looking for original style plates for my 95 Storm. The supplying dealer way back then was Sloan of Edinburgh. I wondered if anyone had a plate or a photo with the plate in it they could send me? It's not there anymore. I believe the dealer may now be called Westerns?!
  3. Sorry guys, HiFi is actually Kenwood!..it must be the heat!?..anyway, I would prefer to sell the parts in person tomorow. If items are not taken I will then post with suitable costs added. Regarding the stereo it is pristine and works perfectly, but one thing I forgot to mention is that I don't have the 4digit code for the Bluetooth! I am trying to get hold of it though. I will update once (if) I have it!
  4. I agree with most points made. Though in my opinion the values of the best standard well preserved cars will firm up and be more in demand as time goes by. The number of cars will dwindle as the years pass. Whilst the Corrado (VR6 even) could never seriously be mentioned in the same breath as cars such as an E type, I do believe the best cars will be seen more and more in the Classifieds pages of Classic Car magazines over the next few years. Low mileage, low owner highly specd cars with strong provenance should start to appreciate. Though, I doubt anybody should be in a Corrado of any flavour to make a short/medium term profit! The ownership costs to achieve the holy grail mentioned above are too great. I would see a strong car being worth £5/£6k in the not too distant future, though I myself spend around £1000 a year on each of my cars, which I don't expect to get back any time soon. There are a lot of classic cars out there that were relatively unloved ( for whatever reason) which are now doing very nicely value wise. The regard in which the Corrado is held by those within e motoring world/press should be enough to see it do relatively well over time, as a rare car becomes rarer.
  5. -Complete Instrument Binnacle (120k mile car) £25 -Sunroof Cover (one broken front fixing) £3 -Complete Standard Airbox & Filter £30 -Sunroof Motor in good working condition £25 -Badgeless 3 slat Grille (new in box) £10 -K&N Panel Filter.in good condition £15 -Pioneer KOC BT30 CD Bluetooth HiFi (in perfect used condition, complete with cage & Wiring Loom) £20 Think thats it for now. 6. Yeah, I agree with this. In the context of the car TCS currently have for sale (41k miler 1995 VR6 in Classic Green with Black Leather @ £5995) it doesn't look that attractive to me. It is certainly about what has been done to cars of this vintage, rather than the mileage.
  7. Welcome to a very select Club. Lovely weather to be picking up a Storm. I collected my Classic Green yesterday! Regards exhaust, the usual recommendations appear to be Jetex and Milltek. Tough I believe the Milltek may now be unavailable?! Also like the near standard look of the DubPower exhaust, guys based in Reading. My Storm has a Jetex and I am very pleased with it. Nice and quiet with an underlying bark. I previously had a Magnex system on a car which looked and sounded pretty similar. Did Jetex absorb Magnex? Think I will get a Dubpower fitted to my other VR6, purely for the looks at this stage! I will see how they compare
  8. Ok Nick, I am easy on time. Was going to leave fairly early but really need to have a look at map/start times etc. let me know when you're sure you're coming, or not?!..
  9. Er, hang on chaps..did you not get the memo?!...I have hijacked this thread for Surrey owners!!..
  10. You should have arrived wearing a tweed jacket and Trilby, called the marshal 'my man' and nose in the air pootled on past regardless like you had just triumphed at Agincourt...this tactic would have got you a tick in his 'classic' box! What a wally..he probably drives an Allegro like you mentioned (which, even though my Grandad owned one, is a sack of ****)
  11. Bought it. Love it.. Sorry for the delay. I am currently in a hotel Richmond (Yorkshire) as met up with my brother on way back from buying it. Him and his Gf are in middle of doing the Coast to Coast walk and I am doing a relatively easy 15 mile stage with them tomorow. The caris parked up in the market square and I just want to drive it rather than walking all day!.. ..picked the car up in Scotland near Edinburgh from a lovely couple. I will get some photos up in a day or two. Should be bringing it along to Castle Coombe. Hopefully meet some of you guys there
  12. sounds interesting. Keep us appraised regarding medium term benefits. Your car is looking lovely these days, always look out for it on my way to work
  13. I really don't know?!..I guess I'm just an addict needing a bigger and bigger hit to get the same buzz!..I think if I won the lotto I would try and buy them all!!..
  14. As the title says I am on the train heading to pick up another VR, which will mean I own two VRs at once for the first time...good times (hopefully!).. ..full details to follow, fingers crossed it appears to be a keeper?!
  15. Hi James,

I posted the payment to you today for the Black Cup Holder. I have sent £15 cash. I enclosed a letter detailing address details. I wrapped it all in a few sheets of paper so it didnt obviously feel like money inside!

Thanks very much fella. I will be coming back to you in due course for a Headlight Wiring Loom

    Cheers

    Ben

  19. Well played Sir.. that Aqua is beautiful. Beige leather electric Recaros, mega low mileage too and a working sunroof! You my friend have the car I (and I suspect everybody on this forum) would give their right arm for! Enjoy, what must be a pretty unique example of a very rare car anyway!..
  20. a very nice example. If I am not in another VR (that I have had my eye on) by National Day I might have to have a serious chat with you about it!?
