I'd be checking and cleaning all earth points near the light units front and rear.

Sounds like a bargain to me, cash job I take it? The matrix is around £40. I'd send the tech a link to a guide as it might just save broken obsolete plastics and him some time too

I did mine a week ago, the way to measure is centre of the wheel vertically to the arch lip, this way wheel and tyre size doesn't affect the out come Measurements taken from the top of the arch to the centre of the cap on the speedlines OSF 13.5 inches NSF 14.25 inches Rear 14.5 inches both sides -
For an engine to run it needs; To be timed correctly (crank and cam(s)in there relevant positions) A spark at the plugs? Fuel in the cylinders? (Remove the spark plugs after cranking, are they wet with petrol? Does the exhaust smell of petrol?) Compression in the cylinders? What's missing?

Need to be a member to see it?

I think you'll find the sump mounted sensor is oil level, most vag engines have them, it illuminates the orange light on the OE dash

Looking through previous posts the car has been off road for 8 years, was it with these tyres resting on the ground?
-
What voltage reading do you get at the plug?
-
Screwdriver in the sparkplug hole and rock the engine back and forth using a socket on the crank pulley

Did you get the doors and bonnet home without damage?

The sort of damage a turbo does when it lets go, 2001 TDi PD AJM 115 bhp 88K miles when it went bang There was bits of turbo in the sump too, exhaust and cat full of oil

I think someone asked for ride heights for standard VR6 suspension? Measurements taken from the top of the arch to the centre of the cap on the speedlines OSF 13.5 inches NSF 14.25 inches Rear 14.5 inches both sides

Sorry, I wasn't very clear, I meant to say I'd rather lightly used early 90s OE springs than new OE or non genuine ones, pre 1998 you hardly ever heard of broken springs on VAG cars, now its common place. What's the issue with the steering?
-
I'd rather have OE than replacements, I can't ever remember a post here saying they had a broken spring? Newer VAG stuff breaks springs like no tomorrow, I suspect certain processes have been replaced with modern more environmentally friendly ones making them work harden and snap. KYB list them for Corrado front and rear, loads on ebay

Is this the engine that suffers oil pump drive failure because it drives balance shafts off the same drive? 1.9s run the oil pump at half engine speed, 2L drives the pump and balance shafts at twice engine speed using the same 6mm hex drive and the corners simply wear away?
-
You could fit the lowering top spring cups to get another 15mm closer to the ground if you decide it needs it after the springs have settled? I've seen this car in the flesh, very nice indeed :)

Paint on the rear face of the wheel where it meets the hub or the hub where it meets the wheel will crush and the bolts come loose. Wrong wheel bolts - taper bolts on a conical seat wheel (or vise versa) - the bolts wont have enough surface area on there seating, the alloy will crush and the bolts come loose. Most tyre places will either tell you or advise on the invoice to check wheel bolts after 100 - 200 miles or so, plenty do them up so tight you need a scaffold pole to get them off leaving you stranded if you get a puncture and only have a standard brace..... This really ****es me off!

I'd go for a temp gauge, you could use several senders via a dash mounted switch and monitor sump temp (via a sump plug mounted sender) filter housing temp, coolant temp etc These cars are getting old, dashes erratic at times and wiring going high resistence - from your sig pic it looks like you do the odd track day?
