  1. as easypops mentions first port of call is checking your ignition leads are connected at both end, check coilpack for any cracks or sign of wear & possibly vagcom it to rule out if the cam sensor is reporting any codes my gf's storm showed similar signs & actions & it turned out to be an intermittent coilpack & dodgy cam sensor
  2. nice 1 easypops thats the diagram i had in my mind
  3. IIRC the bentley manual has an exploded diagram showing all the mechanism of the sun roof - not sure if you can find it online though
  4. you could try plugging it into vagcom if you havent already & check for error codes
  5. i know that feeling m8! ive been hunting for some autostrada modena's for years & then when a set popped up on here i missed them :(
  6. refreshing all your running gear will make a great difference it would be a personal preference or 'is there room' regarding if you strip it & put on stands & also regarding whether you reuse some items or get new/refub (eg wishbones themselves) forgive the haphazard listing, im just going top to bottom on my notes about whats done on my VR to date... tie rod ends cv joints & cv boots steering rack & gaitors drop links suspension top mounts & bearings (front & rear) front wishbone bushes (IIRC some use R32 versions for these, i have OEM & they give a nice cushioned feel to my KW V1's) rear beam bushes (again IIRC it is important to use OEM for the beam due to the nature of how it is designed & polybushes have a detrimental effect) brake compensator can be a real pain when changing rear beam bushes & i needed a new one due to butchering it out your idea of collating all parts prior to fitting would give the benefit of you being able to have items like front wishbones & rear beams stripped & powder coated so they look all new (if 2nd hand of course) hope that helps as a starter but its well worth speaking to members here who have stunning undersides to their cars
  7. Wise words 'Ken' ;) lol in all seriousness though, as it is the tires which make contact with the road your driving on they really should be a very important item rather than something to skimp on
  8. EJ - you could PM n3p as well ;) IIRC he had an LSD fitted when his turbo was done at stealth (his VR was there at the same time as mine) & he is a nice helpful fella :)
  9. OK jim thanks. No rush though m8 so in your own time is all good with me :)
  10. thats a great price Mr L! i will defitely be asking you for a quote when my current 1's need replacing. Does anyone know an average kind of cost for a local tire fitter to fit & balance only?
  11. ahhh thats made my morning thanks Jim & EJ! love it when everyone here has a fun chip in on a wayward thread lol im non SC but run fuchs titan 10w40, after vince recommended i move away from the fuchs 5w40 i had been historically using as it is too thin
  12. just had a quick check on the site i used for my last bridgestones for you..... bridgestone 205/45 R16 87W BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE002 FZ @ £95.22 each fitted at your door by http://www.event-tyres.co.uk they are not quite what the old SO2's or 3's used to be but having experienced a range of tires on the VR (michelin, avon, continental to name a few)personally it would take a lot to get me to not fit bridgestone's
  13. bridgestone all the way is my recommendation - you pay the price but get the desired results
  14. Thanks Ian - it was a helpful question as it made me double check. It is great that we have such thoughtful & knowledgeable members on here, very much appreciated
  15. They are indeed Ian - i had a look at the sellers other items & they have the correct bolts for 4 stud valver pattern.....& they do a variation which has locking bolts included too
  16. Thanks from me too Ian. I have been looking for some well priced bolts for the BBS RX's im refurbing for my valver (they have a good range available) :)
