VR6 crank sensor probs ** Now Dastek/Unichip probs!
corradovr6sc replied to dr_mat's topic in Engine Bay
Mine has those symptoms now and it's the MAF so I would vag-com it. -
No, I haven't got an uprated loom.

I've got a problem with my headlights. They both work on sidelights and headlights but the passenger side doesn't work on full beam. When I pull the stick back for full beam, the drivers side works but the passenger side dims to the brightness of sidelights. When I release the stick the lights go back to normal. The blue light on the dash doesn't illuminate either. I've removed each light and swapped them round and the passenger side light works perfectly on the drivers side (on side lights, headlights and full beam) but not on the passenger side. I conclude from this that the bulbs are all ok. Is there anything else I can check such as the earth? Any ideas guys? thanks :)

They do seem to fail more often on charged vrs but the hotfilm mafs possibly last a bit longer. Wonder if it's anything to do with running the maf under the wing (such as water penetration)?. I bet they haven't gone down in price much either. I'll check the wiring first then go to my local Bosch dealer to check availability.

I've recently bought my old car back and everything was running fine. Been out and the car started jerking and stalling but then the engine would pick up again and everything went back to normal. Got home, plugged into vag-com and I've got the following fault code: 00553 mass air flow meter (g70) short to ground intermittent My old friend the airflow meter, I think I'm on my third or fourth. They seem to have a lifespan of about 18 months (on my car anyway). Does this code indicate anything other than a knackered maf, such as a break in the wiring? thanks for your help :)

I got my rear with the yellow background and GB from germanplates. They'll send you a picture too before they deliver.

Flicking through the demon tweeks catalogue I came across a number of brake line adapters. I'm wondering whether I could mate my existing brake line (goodridge) to the mrk 4 caliper using one of these fittings. Does the vr6 flexible brake line (caliper end) have a female end? I'm thinking I can remove the banjo fitting on the mrk4 caliper and use a male to male adapter with my existing hose. Is this possible? If so what size adapter would be required? thanks :)

Not sure how to change it but I've got a new pollen filter which might fit your car if you can give me a part number?

Is it phillvr6?

I'll have a set of bolts/washers too.

BristolBaron. Cunning use of rhyming slang.
-
I'll have some as well if you can get them cheap!
-
Fairzy, I'd be interested in a set of bolts/washers. Do you know what hoses are required? I've already got goodridge braided hoses or will I need something different?

The increments on the rev counter are wrong also: 1234 then 6810

I'm sure the corrado is quite a bit better aerodynamically than the golf which would tell at high speeds but I don't think the r32 is that quick in standard form. As for the remap I wouldn't bother unless your going to do quite a few mods beforehand. Chipping a standard engine isn't worthwhile imo.

What happened to the Supercharged VR6 for sale recently??
corradovr6sc replied to monVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Mine was sold on here a few months ago (moonlight blue, vortech charger). -
18 gallon US tank is the same capacity as the UK 15 gallon tank.

What sort of mods required to get a VR6 upto 220/230 bhp
corradovr6sc replied to V3DUB's topic in Engine Bay
I think that power figure of 290 hp is at the crank. -
If I remember rightly, your old red C was a 2.0 valver with some mild tweaks wasn't it? In which case a 13.9 is V impressive! 1.5 to 2 seconds quicker than those Civic Type Chavs.... going by the figures I saw them achieve at the Pod last year. I did a 14.03@101 in my vr6 s/c (stage 1) at GTI festival. Just an example of the kind of performance which should be expected from a charged vr6. So stage 2 owners should be looking at some mid-high 13s.

Yep if you don't get the maf far enough away from the charger intake it sees too much air and causes bad running/stalling. It will also stall if the diverter valve isn't plumbed in due to the same problem.

The mesh ( called a pre-charger) came from k@n: http://www.knfilters.com/wraps.htm

I found that having the maf horizontal made for the best fit and stopped the air turbulence affecting the maf:

Try German ebay.

Is it this one:? http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... sc&start=0
