  1. Just bought a Passat Bentley manual, which is for 9A engines so I may be able to help further. Gavin
  2. Lambda probe or water temp sensor that feeds the ECU are likely suspects. The other thing that happens is the idle switch on the TB sticking in, so the ECU thinks the throttle is closed. The ECU then doesn't advance teh timing as it shouldn't be needed. Gavin
  3. Cole, That crank'll be OK. Mine was a bit like that, it's still running strong. That bottom pulley is just how mine came off. No key at all. There is a fella in the states that drills the pulley and crank to pin the 2 together. He is called 'fastbunny' on vwvortex.com. If it were my car I'd stick it back together with a new belt on and 4 new allen bolts. Then forget it ever happened. Gavin
  4. I have that one but the pipe is angled.
  5. You did some open heart surgery on the motor. Give it chance to settle down. Gavin
  6. It won't run if installed arseaboutface. My outlet clears the fan, no problems. Gavin
  7. I have a filler neck that I bought at a show years ago, thinking it was for a mk1 Golf. I showed it to Jim Cotton(Awesome GTI Store), who would said it was for a MK2 Scirocco. It will be cheap if it's needed. Gavin EDIT can take it to e38 tomorrow.
  8. PM sent with my number. The only light on the front that works is a sidelight? Very strange. To start, prior to calling me if possible, I would check all the lighting fuses, in the fusebox and the loom. Swap the 2 relays in the loom around and see if anything changes. Try reconnecting the std wirng back onto the drivers side headlight and test the lights. Also, you do have the ign switched on don't you. Gavin
  9. OT There will be a number of these fine items available on Sunday at e38. Get them while they are hot. Gavin
  10. Mine look like this .....
  11. Could be the crank pulley has spun a bit if the timing is that far out. I am not at e38 til sunday. So feel free to PM me Cole. Gavin
  12. Ssshhh  I spent 25 on the real thing on ebay. Selling the syncro in the next month. May never have another............. Gavin

    2.0 8v Problem

Notes taken RW1. Thanks very much. Gavin
  14. I have had that when engineering the wrong cat to fit my mk3. I took the wire out of some clips to make it reach. If the replacement probe works I'd leave it in. Extending the wires is always possible, as long as you wrap them to protect them. Heatshrink is good for that. Just keep it away from the DP. Gavin
  15. The ECU still expects to see a signal and won't be happy without it. How do you know you need a new probe? No point replacing it if it ain't broken. Gavin
  16. Always nice to have, it's 15 inches wide consisting of 18 volumes and not a Haynes Fancy scanning that for us?

    2.0 8v Problem

I doubt the ECU is bad, just a set up issue. Looks like RW1 thinks that a battery disconnect could cause some trouble. Gavin
  18. Nearest thing to a manual outside of a VW dealers is the Bentley manual. Has the most comprehensive write ups on everything. If he has a 1551 I would have thought he would be well clued up on it's use. Sorry I can't help further, I have only really looked over peoples shoulders when these tools have been in use. Maybe RW1 will be about later. He knows the score. Gavin
  19. Dude, thats a lot of petrol...... Oh and this new C, does it have a headlight loom on it  Gavin

    2.0 8v Problem

I don't think there is an ISV, the ECU opens the throttle to modulate the tickover. There is a motor on the side of the TB that does this. Not ever worked on an ADY but my mate has one in a mk3 cab. We were going to turn up the tickover but after putting the ECU in basic settings I didn't have a clue. RW1 could you detail that for me/us providing it won't wear out your fingers. Thanks Gavin

    Bad fueling

There isn't a boost leak is there? The fronts wheels won't spin that long, they are driving the gears in the gearbox. A back wheel would spin a while. The gearbox has a drain plug and a fill plug on it. They need big, 17mm, allen keys to undo them. The (granny sucking eggs) drain is the lowest one the fill is the highest one. Best bet is remove the fill plug and see if any oil comes out. The gearbox should be filled through this plug until the oil starts to run back out of it's own accord. I don't like the screeching noises bit though. Are you sure this isn't a belt slipping? Is the steering heavy? Gavin
  22. It'll pass the test without a charger. The ECU injects the fuel based on the air it senses. At tickover that is the same with and without a charger. Gavin
  23. You should buy yourself the Bentley manual for the Corrado. Everything is in it. Really there isn't much to know providing you can put all the lpugs back where they came from then it should be dead easy. You will need to sort out the fuel pump though. 16V runs a higher pressure than G60. No need for the accumulator either. Gavin
