ok my corrado is in the bodyshop this week, windscreen out, window frame shot blast and corrosion inhibiter applied, prime and paint plus both a pillars painted 380 quid plus 80 for screen .460, painfull.! luckily my frame wasnt corroded all the way through.

just to clarify, when you car fails mot, it is electronically logged with vosa, and the car should not be driven on the road unless to and from the test station or place of repair. so basically your only allowed to drive it home or to a place of repair and back again, hope this helps! :D

G60 chin spoiler on VR6 - any pics please?
volksworld13 replied to sprinterVR6's topic in General Car Chat
i bought a new 90 mm spoiler for my 8v, and coz my car is soo low it cracked, just though id let you know as i bought myn brand new and it was close to 100 quid. -
the wheels just bolt on fine, my car is lowered so it can scrub when theres a hevy load, but the arch lip can be rolled to address this.
-
if i can remember you have to put the car into a basic setting to adjust ignition timing, well i had to on my 2.0 8v , as i adjusted the timing , it would not change unless i carried out a basic setting using 50501b.

i dont think yo can buy these seperate , try the dealers, but im sure the motor went obsolete years ago, i have a ful spoiler mech for sale if your interested.
-
its not even like you can just a new panel on like a wing or door, its just hour of remanufacturing a pillar or seeing if you can still get hold of pillar and cutting and welding it in! id be real intersted if you could still get pillars if they even exixt on etka parts and vw.

im a skoda/jeep /chrysler technician so i can use my ramp anytime, the small box section at the rear behind the bumper, was rotton , but i have cut and welded a new section in makinsg sure all rust was removed.if you look up from behind the rear bumper, i think is the box section next to the sunroof drain off tube sills look ok, but need cleaning and treating, my biggest concern is rear arches as is very difficult to clean and prevent rust, the rear suspension mounts are solid butter has minor corrosion around the top,i havent looked around the front very thouroughly, ther is a small amount of corrsion around the battery drain when viewed from underneith, it upsets me , its like im fighting a losing battle when it comes to rust, as ive invested silly money in restoring.i suppose most of feel that way when we chuck good money at our pride and joy or hobbie if you like. by the way did you get anyone to check out the wiring chaff on your 8v, it seems to be a common issue, affacting the throttle wiring.

just after full paint job, looked amazing very hard to recapture that paint,as i use it as a daily and , scuff little scrathes lacque scratches ect.

had a full respray 2yr ago, very good nick. rust on rear arches and front , trying to prevent and treat yr after year. 1995 2.0 8v, spent loadza money on her, everything has almost been replaced , ie the usual stuff, all managment sensors, clutch cam belt, switches handbrake cables list is huge, but i dont know weather to save up for a storm and invest , and rebuild another im torn. corrados absorb more money than blotting paper!! i have a bit of money to get the wings replaced and repainted, im prob looking at a 750-800 bill for 2 brand new wing incl paint. i love the car, but i could love a storm?
-
im my god, that is severe, and i had a paint job 2yr ago, im hoping myn aint that bad.that looks quite bad, that all need completly cutting out, can you buy a pillar panels or anything from vw, that could be a better repair if you have to pay that money for a repair id want new metal, not repaired rust, so to speak, i bet you were heart broken, fingers crossed, i hate screen fitters that are so careless about the longevity of their repair! they should advise it to be sorted before jamming a screen on top of rust!
-
hi everyone could do with some thoughts, all corrado owners are aware the c is getting old and dreded corrsion , is staring to eat them a way, my front wings around the arches are corroding, ive had a new peice cut and fitted at the bottom, all was ok, but as water from the wheel thoroughly soak the metal arch they are starting to rust again, should i get the body shop to remove and treat and repaint and hop they wont go again, or shall i blow 500 quid and get 2 brand new wings from the stealers and get them painted, you get 2yr warranty on new parts from vw, but would that cover rust, bit of a dilema, but i wnat to keep the car for a long time, and rust proof it as best as i can. your thoughts would be great. :brickwall:

a grand that seems an awfull lot of money , i would consider having a look around and some quotes,a screen through insurance is 80 quid, and the body shop should liase with them to have screen out, body repair and new fitted, unless they need some serious welding and fabrication, i still dont think it should cost that, im prob looking at a 300-400 bill with a new screen.i hope, will update when it gets done on end of next week. :)
-
yes this has been a concern, myn has started to rot out as ive had idiot screenfitters, and water gets in and around the frame, myns in the bodyshop monday, screen out, shotblasted treated new screen back in.dont know how much this is gonna cost? :cuckoo:

Help On choice of corrado.... Please
volksworld13 replied to Mr oemforyou's topic in General Car Chat
the 2.0 8v is certainly the most fuel efficent engine across the range, driven sensibly. thats why i cant let my 8v go, just so good on fuel. and the bhp between an 8v and 16v aint a huge amount.plus you can pick up an 8v cheaper if you look around! -
yes i think thae are still available, i got some 9-12 month a go, but i had to wait 4 weeks as they were on back order.
-
i have a spoiler mech fully stripped greased and ready to go, £35 delivered
-
i stripped my whole mech apart, and thorougly cleaned the tube the cable runs in, then greased it ,jobs a goodin very smooth and no noise.

hi everyone. just though id post this, my corrado is a 1995 8v ady, in aqua blue, when i 1st bought the car, body work was tatty but never the less solid, over the lasst 2 years, im struggling to fight a war with rust on my rear arches, it has been in the bodyshop , and i asked specifically to treat and prevent this rust . Although surface, it wasnt structual, looking under my car a couple of weeks ago i noticed a small hole rusted out ,at the rear just in behind the back bumper, which is a small box end capping of the arch, i have cut out all rust oversize and welded in a fresh box section that looks exactly like original, and then sealed it.with seal sealer and undersealer. because i have spent so much money 2200 on paint and bodywork, im finding it hard to keep the rust at bay, even though its the rear arches and a little on the front wings at the bottom. im finding it harder to keep ploughing money into when i know the rust is going to continue to spread like cancer. has anyone else got trouble and has any one found a good rust preventor for the rear arches, i have undersealed/waxoiled all under my car to prevent this.its just so damn frustrating, :brickwall: :brickwall: :mad2:

you must have a drain, making the battery flat, or the alterntor maybe overcharging, damaging cells, suspect drain though, get a multimter and check the systems. :D
