  1. It was a classic policy I was trying to get! I should ring Classic Line - have used them before. Got a reasonable price from Peter D James of about £250..
  2. I know this might seem radical but... bring some with you? :) Provided the car is already a clean, one or two 5 litre bottles from the supermarket should be more than enough to give the car a rinse over.
  3. Well congratulations on such a reasonable quote. That's really good! However it just goes to show what utter horse**** insurance is in this country. I actually got refused insurance from specialist insurers who even advertise on this very forum, on my VR because "it had modifications" (lowered a bit, and a remap - crazy I know) and "was not kept at the home address" (never mind it's in a locked garage, with access only via a very tall heavily locked gate) - and I only wanted to do 3,000 miles a year. I have no claims, no accidents, no endorsements... Yet you're able to insure a 400HP turbo Corrado with modifications adding up to thousands and thousands of pounds for It's infuriatingly stupid.
  4. Afraid so.. you would be welcome to come and join the club on the day if you wanted though :) But makes more sense to just sign up on our website.
  5. Having footed a bill just for a regular service on a '67 Daimler V8 at a local specialist earlier this year (which was several times that of the average Corrado service bill) I can imagine that restoration work carries a similarly ludicrous 'tax' as well. They said that servicing these old cars is far more labour intensive - having to set up carburetors correctly, attention to the underbody / chassis, grease points, etc - but still..
  6. Welcome aboard! Look forward to seeing some pictures of the car and finding out a bit more about the spec.
  7. Can I er.. politely suggest that I trim the crap from this thread and just return it to the spirit with which it was intended, Rustynuts? Cheers.
  8. Ah that looks so much better :) Really nice mate. Have you had a chance to try it on the road yet and see how it feels?
  9. Oil & filter plus labour charge and bearing in mind disposal of old oil. £100 seems about the going rate these days to be honest though I agree it's pricey.
  10. Believe me, if I had somewhere to put it, I would :)
  11. Covered it in Wheeler Dealers I think - didn't Brewer get his E-Type restored Poland as it would cost a crap tonne less money and be done to just as good a standard?
  12. For Sale threads on here have a long and colourful past - and the long and short of it is when we allowed For Sale threads to become discussions people complained (as thread crapping would happen, useful information would get buried, they went off topic (amazing I know), and various other problems) - so it was decided we'd try like some other places where For Sale posts are just that - and all discussion can happen via PM. It has to be said things have been a lot less painful this way though it maybe means a bit more work for the seller in answering questions - that makes it pertinent to put as much information in the original post as possible though to answer any questions buyers may have. Cheers.
  13. Likewise. I just don't understand ignoring people, not sending parts, etc. If you have a genuine reason why you can't get parts posted (family problems, whatever) just let people know.. they're generally pretty understanding! Glad to hear Macdaddy is taking this on - hope you make some progress not only for yourself but for the other folks that have been duped here.
  14. I have Virgin Broadband (but no TV or any of that guff) and the broadband is consistently fast and reliable and the router is excellent. Either you got duff or there are so many routers in your area competing for the same channel that it's making your wifi signal unreliable?
  15. I don't see why not. Will gauge opinion a little nearer the time :)
  16. No way - you get the best figures on a freezing cold day ;)
  17. I'm always happy to organise them depending on the level of interest. Maybe see about later this year or similar time next year perhaps.
  18. I just want to stress I'm the same as Portent here - I much prefer the VR, but I just think the increasing rarity of the G60 will make it more interesting to collectors longer term :) The VR engine was used in MK3 Golfs and other stuff too so I think that will always count against it.
  19. As has been said, £25 for two runs complete with a printout of the results. Been that price for years too so got to tip my hat to Vince for keeping it at such a good price for so long. Indeed some figures were high but many were exactly as expected, and indeed some were well down so there was a good spread of results. And as I say, I have run virtually all my Corrado's on those rollers over the years - they generally have given expected results every time, including my trusty G60 which made 207BHP on both theirs AND AMD's rollers.
  20. They're advertised at 180BHP but have an overboost feature to take them up to 197BHP.. but after soliciting opinions on an owners forum it seems as though it's not uncommon for them to crack over 200BHP in standard form!
  21. Hmm.. not sure on that one. I don't actually get to see donations, etc - only Andi (site owner / admin) does. Your account status should go to Donator, but don't think that happens automatically. Hopefully Andi will spot the thread and check accordingly.
