Weird. I remember the old t-shirts that Dinkus designed years back (still have mine!) but really don't remember those!!
-
All the best. Always a shame to hear about a Corrado getting scrapped and of course a member on here going their different ways but good luck with the new motor all the same! :)
-
Apparently the combination of modifications and the fact the car is not garaged at my home location but elsewhere was enough for the underwriters to decline to insure me. Thanks Nick for looking into it so quickly and a shame I can't insure my car with yourselves!
-
I was under the impression they'd be able to offer a typical 'classic' type policy where no NCB is applied, or earned when the car is a second car and does limited mileage as many other specialist insurers do. If that's not the case then that's fine of course :) But there was no mention of no claims in terms of setting up the quote so I figured we were both on the same page in terms of what I was after.

That's lovely. Looks a hell of a lot of Corrado for the money!
-
Excellent. Will do. Thanks!

Nope. It was admittedly a voicemail, but was just told that the underwriters wouldn't give a price. I've owned Corrado's for about 12 years and I've had my VR6 for four years. I'd understand if we were talking about a Veyron here, but even then at 34 I'd think I'd have a shred of sensibility and not put it into a ditch within a week. I'd love to know a reason if you're able to find out why I was declined a policy?

Getting stuff from the States, opinions please.

I don't think there's any confusion - if you're getting someone to ship them on to you and declare them as a gift or to declare their value as something like $100, then you're avoiding tax which you know you need to pay. So either you risk it (and it is extremely unlikely to get caught) or pay up :) In terms of carrying them back in your luggage, there is actually an allowance of stuff you're allowed to bring back from a holiday that you do not need to declare. See here: https://www.gov.uk/duty-free-goods/arrivals-from-outside-the-eu Specifically "Allowance for other goods". Assuming the surplus baggage weight isn't a major issue, this would be the most sensible option I think :) -

Would have been sceptical if it were not for the positive comments - but that's a bargain really for that lot. -
Cool. Be a novelty for the Americans of course as they didn't get the 16v in a Corrado :) Worth knowing about Pistonheads classifieds - glad you managed to get it sold. Thought it was a fair price, and an honest advert.

Peter D James quoted me £252 which I'm happy with. Just thought I should be diligent and ring around a bit. Just can't understand how I'm not a safe bet for an insurance company really. Baffling. As a moderator on the forum it's hard to endorse / stand behind an advertiser if I can't actually get a policy with them! :) It also means that other Corrado owners may struggle...

So I rang up to get a quote for my Corrado VR6 with yourselves on Friday. Have just had a call back this morning to tell me that you were unable to get a price for me for insurance (having spoken to your underwriters) and that I should try you guys again next year instead? I'm 34, with no points / claims / accidents / endorsements, and looking for a limited mileage policy (2000 a year) on a car that's always garaged and only has a handful of normal Corrado modifications. What gives?
-
Mental! I have to say I've noticed in the last year or so older folks buying Corrado's to restore / keep / put away, and seeing stuff like this too makes me think it might be time for prices to start heading in the right direction :)

Shouldn't need any lubrication. The clips are damn tight no doubt about it but they will go on, and the plastic shouldn't (!) break in my experience.

Any of you guys Commdore/C64/Amiga guys back in the days?
Jim replied to Mawrick's topic in Off-topic Chat
I remember playing Stunt Car Racer on a friends Amiga. I guess it must have been one of the first times I ever played a game with '3D' graphics. I think it was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen. Can remember like sitting in the chair leaning left and right with every corner, and generally being way too excited about it all. -
Doh - I'm pretty good at missing jokes written like that ;) "I moved here from Canada, and they think I'm slow, eh!" :)
-
Wish my VR had a turbo mate! It's just a N/A 12v VR6.
-
Indeed - but as I've already said to a few other folks I'm determined to get them as close to original as possible :)
-
It's only ever run on V-Power :)
-
Try disconnecting the 5th injector then try starting it from cold next time and see what happens.
-
Well my VR6 grille badge is currently away at the 3D printers / prototypers.. so a) I hope I get it back if they're going for this kind of money but b) hope we can still get some good replicas made :)
-
Likewise. I have to say it feels like it's lost a little oomph since about 5-6 months after the rebuild so not entirely optimistic it'll make the kind of power I hoped it would :(
-
Thread cleaned at C5's request, purely just to keep it a 'Wanted' thread - not another general discussion. Cheers.
-
Based on my own experience of running RR days at Stealth Racing, normally starts pretty sharp at about 9/9.30 and will run till probably 1pm'ish at a guess? :)
-
Yep - according to the VR6OC thread they're fine with spectators coming along to watch.
