  1. Admittedly they are very long intervals, but I'm sure VAG don't quote them for a laugh, and I'm quite sure they have put a lot of effort into making sure they are save intervals too.
  2. Just phoned up to find out if my gauges have arrived, to be told, "He's got today off" :x . This bloke beginning to annoy me, whenever he's say's he'll be there, he is not. Apparently he is in tomorrow, so I'll be trying again then.
  3. That would be great if you could do the conversion for free, but you would need to sell the car for a lot more to get your money back, and getting your money back on modifications is less likely than than tredding in rocking horse shit. Plus it will probably be more difficult to insure with an engine conversion, which is likely yo limit your market.
  4. Cool, job done then. I think you need a page for your repair parts, so people can buy them easily and save themselves money, and hopefully make you some at the same time.
  5. If you can wait, because I'm very busy at the moment I can draw it up in CAD as long as the bitmap is proportionaly correct, and you give me at least one definate dimension so I can scale it correctly. Daves16v or whoever will lasercut them, what file format do you want? dxf?
  6. I'm hoping to hear tomorrow, which is when he says mine should arrive. I was quoted the retail price obviously. If it turns up I will be trying to knock him down! I'll post when I know more.
  7. If I manage to get my oil pressure/volmeter pod, I'll be looking into where this mysterious little wire is going to.
  8. In my price range - probably a Corrado VR6 or BMW 325 or 328. Out of my price range - Porsche 911.
  9. A Scimitar, may well have something like 321bhp. Good old American V8.
  10. Ok, keep an eye on the thread, and I'll post up any new as and when I get it, hopefully it will be good news.
  11. Thats a bit cheaper than what I was quoted!! Definately gonna have to do some haggling.
  12. I was quoted about £140, I was meant to go to see the bloke one lunch time last week to order them and pay, but he went for lunch and came back late so I didn't see him. He phoned me and apologised and ordered them without payment, I will be trying to negotiate a cheaper price on collection.
  13. Ok, a little update on things so far. I have ordered one set for myself, which I have been told should arrive on Friday this week, but knowing how these things go I wouldn't be suprised if they take longer. If they manage to get mine, I'll enquire as to how many more they can get, and post the outcome here.

    Gauges

OK, keep an eye on my thread in the wanted section.
  15. The wipers, aren't great, but I'm used to that, all my cars have had rubbish wipers, I think VW struggle to get them right. Not being able to open/close both windows at once. The handling was to be honest rubbish, bordering on scary, but I sorted it all out with new bushes and it does drive very nicely. I wish mine was a bit smoother and a bit more powerful - a VR6 basically, but I've got mine to a very high standard now, so I'm not going to throw that away to start again on another.

NickVR6, If you can, wait for another week or so before commiting to anything, I still have a possible source of RHD late vdos. I have ordered a set for myself and if they turn up, I'll enquire about how many are left. If it all goes to plan, I'll post the details of the supplier in my original thread, but please be patient for the next week or so.
  17. I think the B is just a design revision. So the later the number on the end the more recent the part design. The rest of the number is identical so it the same item, just revised.
  18. Race power motorsport machine the originals, they are based near Bluewater in Kent.
  19. Ooh, finally something to make me glad I have a valver and not a VR. Mine does over 400 miles on £50. Not sure on VR6s, but I know on a 20 vt you can measure the airflow reading the maf is putting out in grams/second using vag-com, which can give a good indication if something is wrong. I'm sure someone on here can confirm or dismiss this.
  20. That's good to know, if we can't find any, thanks.
  21. Well mine made 162bhp with 95 octane U/L. I've since advanced the ignition timing to 8 deg, which made a noticable improvement, so got to be 165-170bhp now.
  22. We'll love them if we can get them  I had VDO console gauges in my 1st 3 cars, and really fancy having them again.
  23. Ok, make that one potential supplier.
  24. Depends how much more power you want. I agree with Flusted about a flowed head. For road use I would stick with the KR cam set up, I've not tried two exhaust cams so can't comment on them. New injectors made a noticable difference on mine at around 140K miles. Make sure it is all set up properly to make full use of what you have.
  25. I've got two possible suppliers at the moment, but nothing 100% yet. If one or both turn out to be able to get them for definate, I will post the details here. So keep watching this thread.
