  1. That would be a pain in the arse for me at the moment. I am selling my Seat Leon, which is insured until mid November. My insurance and tax run out today on my C. My plan is in the next couple of weeks to sell the Seat and transfer it's remaining insurance to the C. Therefore my C which is currently uninsured for a couple of weeks and parked on private land which would make me a crimial! I tried to tax the C yesterday, but was not alowd, I would have been if my insurance ran out tomorrow though! So technicaly I am breaking the law because it is currenty neither taxed or sorned. If I sorn it today and sell my Seat on Monday which is when it ends on e-bay, I will be trying to unsorn and tax the C in a big hurry, after I receive a cover note which must be posted by my insurance company. Being a law abiding citizen becomes very complicated by all these rules and regulations. I think they will need to re-organise the way we insure cars for this system to work i.e. insurance needs to be available at reasonable cost on a daily rate, if it was I could pay say £1.50 per day to keep the C insured and also be able to buy a tax disc and stay legal.
  2. Jobs for my Corrado. Sell my Seat Leon and re-tax and insure it, tax and insurance run out today so it's now off the road. Decide if I want the front a little lower and once done set tracking and camber. Get a new sub box and tidy up my stereo install. Get the rear exhaust box re-packed, my Magnex was sounding very nasty, had the centre box done and it sounds way better now, but for everyday use I want it quieter still. Most inportantly enjoy driving it. Nothing to fix on it at the moment, tbh it is very reliable, and does not live up to the reputation of always going wrong.
  3. AMD does them for around £300. Try the searchm this has come up loads before, I decided against it in the end. I'd go for a KR inlet cam instead.
  4. I think you will when you hear it! They will sound lovely. A mate used to run a Mk2 Golf with a very lary 8v lump on twin 45s. It was really good fun, as I'm sure yours will be. The 200 bhp valvers were as you say 2.0, running Schrick 268/276 cams and other bits on K-jet. K-jet is a good system, and i'd stick with it personaly, but I can certainly see why you fancy the carbs. Keep us posted on your progress.
  5. Or drill the lower part of the airbox. Have to admit I would stick with K-Jet too. People on Club gti have been known to get 200bhp with loads of other mods but still using K-jet.
  6. No, your just being over sensitive. Just don't ask for pictures of a Corrado on 3 spoke wheels.
  7. You had me looking at that for a while. I know the owner of the Corrado and the brother of the owner of the white golf. I kept looking at the C thinking he hasn't got those wheels!!! If I am correct the originals were white.
  8. Assuming the valve timing is correct and this is just an ignition timing fault, it must be set to 6deg BTDC. You will need a timing light to do this. The knock sensors (there are 2 on yours) detect knock/pinking and retard the ignition timing to stop it.
  9. I've got a soft spot for all Veedubs inlcuding air cooled. I've had a Mk1 Polo, Mk2 Polo, Mk1 Golf GTI, Mk2 Golf GTI and own my Corrado and a Seat Leon Cupra at the moment. I wanted a Corrado to replace my Mk1 Golf which was too hard for every day use. The combination of VW running gear, looks and a little more refinement are what made my mind up. I bought my Mk2 GTI as an in between car and ended up keeping it for 5 years before getting my Corrado.
  10. I was in Cornwall a few weeks ago and had a White G reg Corrado follow me one evening from St. Agnes to Perranporth. Unfortunately I was in my Seat Leon, not my Corrado. I saw one or two others around too while I was there. I can't come to a meet because I live in Essex. It took 10 hours to drive from Essex to Newquay! Only 6 hours to get home though.
  11. Yep, I tightened the bolts as described in Kevs post - It made a definate inprovement. Well worth doing.
  12. Good news. Looking forward to reports of J-Dubs progress.
  13. Thats just down the road from where I work!! So according to your fiance is stock another plannet? :D Used to be an RS200 in the town I live in, plus there was a Metro 6R4 onwed by a local Rallycross driver.
  14. Son of a Beesting, I think you should buy a Seat Leon Cupra, just like the one I have for sale  Its 180bhp, with a very similar interior to the A3, 2000 X reg for £4000. You could revo it to 207bhp and still have about over £2400 left out of your £7000. Click the link in my signature if you fancy a look.
  15. http://www.clubgti.com is pretty big. Although not quite VW http://www.seatcupra.net is big too.
  16. Agreed, sell it if you don't like it whilst its running fine, otherwise fix it and enjoy it. Better the devil you know, and you will know it well by the end of all this.
  17. Can't beleive that, still at least you're getting it sorted. I'm looking forward to reading the article in the magazine.
  18. From what I have read, the milder inlet cam moves the power down the rev range a bit and gives cleaner emmisions, and the cat is supposed to reduce power and smell nasty. The extra capacity brings the power back to KR standards.
  19. I am, and have had no problems yet.
  20. IIRC mine was about 120bhp at the wheels which was quoted as 162bhp at the flywheel. So yours sounds fine to me.
  21. Yes, the Haynes Passat one has the 9A. I think to be honest a Mk2 Golf manual covering the KR will have most of the info you need.
  22. I'd imagine he used the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard. Press it and then go into word or whatever program you want it in and click "Edit" on the top menu and then "paste", or you can also probably right click the mouse and click "paste" from the menu which appears. If you hold "Alt" when pressing print screen it just copies the current active window to clipboard instead of the whole screen.
  23. Loads of hand tools, compressor and a few air tools, arc welder, far too many Mk1 Golf bits considering I sold mine eight and half years ago, a few Mk2 Golf bits including a complete GTI interior, I sold my Mk2 three years ago! My neighbour has a small machine shop including a milling machine and lathe which he machines custom stainless steel parts for his Harley.
  24. Theres nothing wrong with a 9a, mine produces good power, and I doubt you would see much of a difference between them. If I was to do an engine change it would be 1.8t.
