  1. You can buy cloth like the stuff used on the modern GTI's from VW but if you want Corrado / Mk3 era stuff you need to speak to an Auto retrimmer
  2. Yes, worth re-seating the plug etc and checking wiring before you replace.
  3. ABF would be the obvious way to go but then something more modern like a 1.4TSI would be awesome I reckon in a Corrado... I'd get the other stuff around it sorted first though mate then decide about the engine - should be a nice cheap and relaible car to run once done as you've basically done a full drivetrain restoration.
  4. Yeah, they're not much, mine was £15 back in the day - tend to go wrong after clutch changes after garages drop gearboxes on floors :bad-words:
  5. Kev - http://www.stahlwille-online.de
  6. He's not heard of Irwin Bolt Grippers then - these will get them off in seconds, removing the beam is bonkers!
  7. You've got an edit button btw... Could be the starter or the ignition switch, especially if you've not changed the switch recently and it's not a new black one - if this is the case I would buy one anyway. The way to tell if it's the starter though is to measure the red / black single pin plug that runs to the solenoid - you should get 12V down this when the ignition is turned to the crank position. If that is the case then the solenoid is sticking (this happens when warm as your friend sugested) - you can sometimes hit it with a metal bar to free it off but a new starter is really the way to go.
  8. Yeah agree with Tandino, hard to get an idea of speed but it seemed to be faster than anything else, braking on turn in and probably worn axle bushes - sooo important on these cars!
  9. Nice one, must be a short somewhere - you can confirm this with a multimeter
  10. I've got one on order from TPS Ross and they've not said they are obselete - could I have dibs on the spare you have though in case I can't get them please?
  11. It's not difficult, the Benley manual shows all the parts needed and the procedure - just so many seem to get it wrong and bodge it.
  12. Great thread title! Might be worth putting what car it is??
  13. If it's under load and the engine hase done around 100k miles then it's likely to be conrod bearings - G60's just seem to need them at this sort of mileage.
  14. You must match the wheel bolt seat to the wheel...
  15. Maybe time to fit a fixed column dude!
  16. Sorry just re-read your first post - hmmm maybe it only triggers the run on of the fan The Fan is controlled by a black box mounted near the washer bottle so I suppose that could be faulty - maybe try unplugging stuff to narrow down what is causing the fuse to blow.
  17. Welcome to the forum... Fuse 13 and they are the only 2 components on that circuit so I'd say the rad fan is on it''s way out - as electric motors fail they draw more current. You could maybe try a 15A to test but if it blows this then you really need to try another fan I'd say.
  18. Yeah it can crank and not supply power to the ECU to actually fuel the engine... They fail in different ways but if it's not one of the new black ones (6N0 Part number) then change it
  19. No - usually happens with pattern clutches and probably won't get any better unfortunatly...
  20. Yeah - I'd rather pay £100 for a good retrim and kep it standard rather than fit a comedy Momo that looks tatty after a year!
  21. No, they are External Torx mate - Ford interior fittings etc...
  22. That's not right, the MK4 part should no be supplied - it's plastic for a start. The one VW supply sometimes needs a later pedal fitted too which is another £20
  23. Yep - spanner set is actually only £6.40 on Trade, also got a few other bits and the £10 voucher.
