what do you think will happen to the corrado prices in 18mt
Supercharged replied to C488ADO's topic in General Car Chat
IMO again original unmoded ones will fetch more money, thats why the mods ive done are reverseably This i would agree with! But as for the storm i cant see what all the fuss is about IMO, even tho they are a limited edition i chose not to buy one. a very good point there about storms, i guess your buying into the exculsive part of 250 in each colour, personally i think vw should of made the storm a 3.2litre,to make it extra special, i think its personally choice i guess They should have kept the VSR's for the Storms as there were just 510 produced - would have made sense... and made them all Air con as standard with Air bags etc - It also annoys me that VW went on the paint just about every other P reg MK3 Golf in Mystic Blue rather than keep it exclusive. 10,400 UK Corrado's made - I wonder how many are still on the roads? There is no doubt it's a classic but only the best examples will get to this status - spare parts need to be bought now before they go obselete. -

Yep, no plans to ever sell either of mine - too much invested... Just thinking now if I should import one of the very last MK1 Citi Golfs currently rolling off the line - roughly £11k I think, If only they were 3 door! -
Nooo - you nutter.
-
What coilovers? That will be a MK4 Polo or even a MK5
-
Before you do that - remove the dizz and see if it's free to turn with a large flat blade screwdriver... If not then 'hopefully' it's something just stuck in the oil pump!
-
No, everything else Corrado including the carriers. A few of us have changed carriers now due to corrosion and pads seizing up but they usually clean up fairly well...
-
Basically you need the 2 calipers and a pair of MK2-MK4 conversion hoses from Goodridge... http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info. ... ts_id=1530 http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info. ... ts_id=1531 The above should cost about £130 + the Hoses are £25 so you can do it with brand new bits for around £150 and no exchange required on the calipers! If old I would consider also doing new rear discs, Pads, wheel bearings, ABS rings, splash shields and handbrake cables - another £150 or so.

The VR is a different kettle of fish - On the VR i'd say the front VT mount is a must, the standard one is not really strong enough, especially considering how close the inlet manifold is to the bonnet - the only thing I would say is don't just replace the front one, if that's knackered then the rear mounts will also need changing. Been in several VR's with the VT front mount (and even Chris Gaskell runs one on his Storm) and you don't seem to get any excessive noise / vibrations like with the 4 cyl models.
-
Yeah, was going to say the VT ones are slightly cheaper than VAG altho they don't last as long, you can change the inserts on them for not much at all... VWspares sell some good stuff but I'd stay well clear of any non genuine rubber stuff like bushes and mounts - the Febi stuff tends to last a year or 2 at best when VAG lasts 8-12 years!
-
LOL - surely that's a joke!?!
-
OEM VW for all 3 for me too! Front VT ones are ok and a good VR upgrade, all 3 is overkill though as are solid fronts
-
Eddy - I'm running 312's but staying 4-stud incase this is an easier route for you... viewtopic.php?f=23&t=83206&p=963060 It's a bit of a bodge with machined carriers and re-drilled discs but is working well, very stable braking from high speed!
-
Well spotted - must have only had 16V clocks available - bl00dy Karmann! You don't really ever want to rev a G60 past 6k anyhow, no need on an 8v Also spot that the bonnet looks slightly open on some corners and the rear lights don't line up - shoddy for a press car! Good overall review though

My moneys on the lambda or dodgy wiring to it on the car side of the loom (look near rear engine mount) But could be many other things - As above, an air / vac leak Idle screw come loose Injector stuck open Bad engine / sensor earth Bad wiring - maybe to BTS or ISV ISV not working - is it buzzing and is throttle closed switch clicking - check throttle cable if not Bad ECU / Injector drivers Hopefully the above will give you some ideas....
-
Here's something to try.... let it warm up until the problem occurs, then unplug the BTS and plug in the old sensor if you can before it cuts out, this switches the engine back to the 'warm up' map... If it them runs better with that sensor just hanging there then I would say it's either a CO POT issue or, more likely, the O2 sensor (Lambda) as this is the main sensor on the warm map.

Looking for a free garage/carport/barn/storage in Cambridge?
Supercharged replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in General Car Chat
You might be best off contacting the council and seeing if one is available for rent.... -
Yeah - the camber on the rear shows a slightly bent rear beam but as above I would not worry as it's only a slight amount and shouldn't affect tyre wear... If it pulls when braking only than I'd say it's an issue with the brakes alone - likely to be a sticky rear caliper - maybe feel each wheel after a short drive and see if one side is noticably hotter that the opposite.
-
As above they are not obselete but no reason you can't replace with stainless.
-
Could maybe stick an octane booster in it and see if it makes a difference?
-
Before changing / checking stuff don't rule out a bad tank of fuel - especially at this time of year! Also could be blocked fuel filter, dying pump, dead lift pump, injector spray pattern - K Jet injectors should be changed every 60k according to Bosch / VW!
-
brake fluid reservoir hose to master cylinder hose fitting..
Supercharged replied to culshaw's topic in Drivetrain
Did you pull the plastic bit out? If so good luck! :) No you should be ok - you will need to use a flatblade screwdriver and (carefully!) apply pressure to get it back in. (Been there, done that!) -
FilthyTalk - what pressure are you bleeding at - try around 20PSI as this is what VAG use... Have you bled the master Cyl? - do this last if you have excessive pedal travel
-
VW or a Bosch dealer - usually about a £1 each.
-
It depends on the brakes you are fitting - ie the piston area... I think ABS cars are generally ok as they have the 23mm MC but you might get a long pedal on non ABS cars. The one to fit on non ABS is the 24mm one from a UR Quattro
