Steve - how long has this been happening for? - just wondering if you have a crap tank of fuel??
-
Superb stock control there! :cuckoo:
-
You checked the big fuse and the belt?
-
The resevoir is a standard Gold driver (carb) or TDI part I think... peanuts from VW
-
Vince at Stealth Racing (ex-Gemini) is probably the best person for VAG boxes...
-
You can adjust in situ using a gearbox jack or similar altho it is a pain... elephant tape the other rings so they don't fill with dirt / rust
-
A dead aux pump usually causes this...
-
Could be the release bearing - i'd see how it goes...
-
About £8 for 5 when I bought some from a Volvo dealer in Frinton - they only fit certain valve stems tho...
-
Welcome to the forum, I reckon you have got the firing order wrong?
-
Nice one mate!! good bit of troubleshooting there!
-
Yeah - that 60Nm + 90 Degrees is correct and you must use new bolts (come with locking compound) There is a bulitin about this, apparently the original figures on G60's were 30Nm and the bolts were coming loose

^ Thats fair enough as Goodridge charge alot more for the hoses seperatly and don't seem to be prepared to make a custom kit up... If you do buy direct from Goodridge i'd advise paying the extra and getting the stainless steel option - my 3 year old ones are noticably rusty now, I reckon they will be an MOT advisory in another 3....

Moving to Engine Bay

The matrix could be leaking internally into the box - any loss or smell of coolant in the cabin?? If the valve detects a leak it will shut, thats what they are there for - I would be tempted to by-pass then for now just for testing...

For anybody that has ever sworn at a hose clamp...

Constant tension  -
My standard 6-spd puts out 310Nm - yours might be nearer the 400 mark

None of the petrol engines excite me apart from the R32... Would have to be the 130 or 150 GT TDI for me, economy, torque and a true GTi
-
No worries - ECU relay should be the 3rd one in the top row I think (above the fuse box) - maybe grey in colour (most are black) - maybe numbered 30/31//32 (without checking)
-
- sorry thats what confused me, I thought you meant you'd changed it... Ok - So you have looked for continuity from PIN2 or the sensor plug(s) to PIN 33 on the ECU plug? What about Pin 33 on the ECU back to the battery Negative? I would at least re-seat the ECU relay or change for a new / known working one and maybe also look for corrosion on the big multi-plug in the engine bay
-
Pin 33 I think mate - sensor earth - not sure where that goes from the ECU - probably the relay? have you changed this?? Pin 2 on both the IAT and CTS earth back to ECU pin 33 along with the TPS which is interesting - did the other 2 faults come up before you changed the throttle sensor or only afterwards???
-
Have you checked continuity between the sensor plug ang and ECU plug... I think both these sensors earth thru the ECU so that might be the issue...
-
As above or running rich - thermotime switch maybe faulty if it's a KR engine?
-
Yan, sorry - didn't see this thread... Good to see the inside of your engine is the same colour as mine - so strange and never seen another VW like it apart from G60's How much backlash should there be on the intermediate shaft? - I noticed on mine if I 'wriggle' the rotor arm the pulley moves in and out by about half a mm moving the cambelt with it! Also what about the line on the dizzy casing - should the rotor arm point directly at this at TDC or is this a 6 degree marking?
