  1. No throttle potentiometre tho... I think only the ABF got these...
  2. trevor, cheers - i've checked the switch with a metre and it seems ok but then again the fault is internittent... might see how much a new switch is... Tempest, Yeah, thats basically what i want to do but there are 2 plugs with 4/5 wires and I can only find reference to 2 of them in the bentley...
  3. ewang33, just bare in mind that the whole intake system will need to be cleaned and the engine checked for debris as well as fitting a new charger... Engine looks fairly standard which isn't a bad thing but also budget to replace those original parts that wear out at this point in time... If the charger has been neglected then also check there is nothing else major on the car that needs imediate attention I hope it's cheap!
  4. Yeah, my mate was showing me this - looks wicked
  5. Car is a mk3 1997 1.8 AAM engine
  6. For the sake of £15 it's worth trying a new sender...
  7. Cheers, I know where it comes out of the fuse box but cannot see where that then connects to the main engine / ecu loom, must go thru the bulkhead somewhere... Fault is completly random / intermittent change of engine note where the car slowly overfuels it self to death where it starts to pop, shake cut out, won't rev as it's flooded... as if timing was out but it's spot on - all 4 plugs soot black, all sensors checked and replaced for new / known good and ecu tried in another car... loom continuity checks out ok but want to try a new one as i have access...
  8. I did some rear ones once using emery cloth on a flat surface, didn't take more than a few mins but I think I only needed half a mil off them...
  9. Ok, a good tip here is to use an MOT test centre run by a council for fleet vehicles, they have to be open to the public and are often cheaper than most places and they do not do repairs so altho they will stick to the book they will not fail you on certain things where others might as there is no incentive...
  10. They are metal and go inline in the hoses leading to the matrix... Problem is I'm not sure you can get them anymore so the fix would be to replace with mk3 matrix and 2 new pipes...
  11. McGaurd - try halfords, they are bount to have a set on the shelf with the same key as there are not that many variations - or give them a call... (deleted duplicate)
  12. David - just sand the 1mm off, won't take too long...
  13. My Mums MK3 1.8 CL has a 4 pin temp sender...
  14. Check the switch wires going to the door handles - they corrode and are probably shorting.
  15. I thought all advisories were available to look at online? Prive is going up to over £50 soon too!
  16. I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem by trying a new loom
  17. Autoexpress reviews always seem come up trumps for me... See if you can blag some Duo-fibre towels Karl!
  18. Hi, Does anyone know where the G60 ECU loom gets it's power feed from, I know it's from the ECU relay but how and where does it connect to this - behing the fusebox inside the cabin??
  19. Maybe worth changing the fluid (less than a fiver from VW)
  20. Did they do any investigation into why it went tho?
  21. What was wrong with the gasket?
  22. Very sorry to hear that Andy but it sounds like you got to spend some quality time with each other in those last few weeks. RIP
  23. The reviews on the autoexpress website are always fairly reliable... I think they did one on trickle chargers a while back but i know draper do one which is meant to be good.
  24. £800 sounds about right if it includes the servive and tax etc... VR6 Russ, this is just a case of age of the car i'm afraid - get the rad fixed first so you can drive the thing... Axle bushes or read wishbone bushes?? If the axle bushes are bad enough to be picked up on an mot then changing them should completly transform the ride and cornering ability!
