  1. No wouldn't affect running at all... A dodgy battery could affect the startup... I'd at least phone VW up and ask them how much they'd charge per hour to look at your big-end and how much to pull it off for a more thorough look...
  2. Ok, are you sure the glowplugs were changed or were you just told that?
  3. Right, next thing I'd do in your position... Go to VW, explain the problems with it not starting up properly in the mornings and suggest that someone has a quick look at your big-end.. they may be able to see what the problem is just by getting under there and taking the cover off...
  4. Probably - does the noise go when you turn it off?
  5. Oh... forget that then as only turbo diesels need a flux capacitor...
  6. Sorry TD - they should have one instock, usually about a fiver...
  7. Easy to change and very cheap... Just go to VAG and ask for a Flux Capacitor for a mk3 TDi...
  8. Just checking... If the glow plugs are ok then maybe try the capacitor...
  9. Hmmm.... Depends what you got, Halfords do a pack of 2 red horns which work well as a direct replacement altho they plugs are different so you have to re-terminate.
  10. Yip, and sitting at idle doesn't do the turbo anygood on a PD engine apparently...
  11. I think Stealth charge £650 +vat for a drive in/out clutch and chains job...
  12. PhatVR6, Am I right in thinking that you can change this without dropping the box? If so, is it something you'd recommend (or think it's worthwhile) for VR owners to do..?
  13. Wales - you are letting the glow plug light go out before starting up I assume?
  14. 4 Bolts, then wiggle it about and pull... then unplug the indicators/fogs...
  15. Parts like this should be on a 2 year warranty, but not sure about that if it's blowing a thermal fuse! The reason the fuse is blowing is that the motor is struggeling and drawing too much current and therefore heating it up...
  16. I bet they're exactly the same - maybe the plug points the other way...

Still no pics - I think we should ban him!
  18. That piece of metal is less than a fiver from VAG!
  19. Yep, and you have to buy the intercooler pipes in a seperate kit to the coolant ones... Look good tho...
  20. Here you go... The highlighted item is the top mount...
  21. LOL - the Haywire fixed his earlier with a large self-tapping screw!
  22. Sounds like you have a vac leak thats affecting the operation of the ISV...

    loose parts

What engine is it? If it's a 16V and those pipes are the ones i'm thinking of then they are your braided fuel injection lines...!!!
